David Underwood needs to go to AA – Alpha-lovers Anonymous. His last attraction to an alpha male got him into an abusive relationship, and now ogling two hot members of the Australian volleyball team on Laguna Beach gets him harassed yet again. But he can’t resist the allure of the delicious Gareth Marshall… even if the man isn’t gay.
Australian Gareth Marshall needs to come out. A lifetime of hiding his orientation from his best friend and volleyball partner, Edge, as well as everyone else around him, has left him hurt and frustrated. When Gareth gets a load of David posing nude as the Michelangelo statue in the famous Laguna Pageant, he knows his days in the closet are numbered. And David is more than willing to help him take the first step out of the dark.
But Gareth’s teammate, Edge, has secrets of his own, and David’s ex-lover will never be happy without David under his thumb. With everything stacked against him, can a gay Laguna man find happiness with an alpha male – or two?
David needs to attend AA: “Alphas Anonymous”. After leaving an abusive relationship, David tries to steer clear of all alpha males. However, being caught drooling over the volley ball players on the beach during lunch, David finds himself facing down Edge (aka Goliath), a giant of a man, and one of the team members. Thinking a beating is to come he is grateful when Gareth, Edge’s team mate, steps in to stop the fight.
As the plot thickened I found myself laughing and enjoying the character, David, and his smart mouth. I could not help but love the byplay between Gareth and Edge especially when Gareth came out and said he was gay before a match. I definitely loved the plot with all the excitement and banter that went on between the characters. The courtship was not a bed of roses and had a number of road blocks to keep me wondering if it would be a happy ever after. Ms. Lain did a beautiful job in creating a funny but emotional tale to entertain the reader with only a few editing errors to be found. As a whole, the book was short but an attention getter and worth reading again in the future. This tale was truly a sensual and decadent experience that I will not forget any time soon. The whole story was a light and entertaining read that left me with a smile on my face thinking about an “Aussie sandwich”.
I do enjoy Ms. Lain’s writing style and her unique sense of humor which makes her books stand out in a sea of other publications. She is one author I would recommend to anyone that is looking for someone new to read.
