Aspiring writer Tabitha Lawford and her emerald-eyed muse have a falling out, right when she thinks their relationship couldn’t be better or more passionate. All attempts to woo him back fail and, as a last resort, Tabi signs them both up for a weekend of couple’s therapy — at a writer’s retreat held at a remote mountain lodge.

Determined they’ll either end their relationship completely or she’ll get him to loosen his tight lips and stop the silent treatment, Tabi adds a bit of playful experimentation to spice up their stalled love life: writing on an antique Underwood typewriter instead of her laptop. Tabi has given up the ghost — but can she win him back?

I was intrigued right off by the premise of this story: a writer who can’t seem to get passed her writer’s block. Tabi feels like her muse has abandoned her. She goes to a writers retreat to try to find a way through her block and back to her passion.

There really is no male perspective, as the romance aspect of this story is between Tabi and her muse.

The sex scenes while scorching are written as if Tabi is writing them for her book. Yet the way Mr. Norris writes the two mesh so incredibly that it seems as if it’s all one in the same. Toward the end I was left wondering how would this all turn out? Would Tabi’s muse leave her once she left the retreat, would she ever finish her novel? Also was this how real writers felt when stuck? While that last question remains unanswered, the ending of this book left me extremely satisfied and happy for Tabi.
