Review By: MyrtleWe’ve talked about them for millennia. The Sons of Heaven came to Earth and lay with the Daughters of Man, spawning the heroes of old (or the monsters of old, depending on your mythos). They have been called angels. They have been called demons, the fallen, the devil… Somewhere behind the myths, there were men, winged men who came from the stars and took simple human women as mate. It is time for one modern human woman to discover who and what the Sons of Heaven were, and that discovery will change her life forever.
When Jannie Reynolds goes down the line into the deeper caverns in search of more artifacts depicting the winged god-man, she doesn’t know a team member with a thirst for fame intends to cut her ropes. She doesn’t know her life will be saved by alien technology or that she will stumble upon a five-thousand-year old winged alien in a stasis tube who doesn¦t know his colony has been destroyed. And she certainly doesn¦t know she’s an alien crossbreed, as well.
Have you ever had a cover and book title that just reaches out and grabs you? This book did exactly that with me. I have often wondered who the sons of Heaven were, where they came from, what they looked like and, more importantly, why did they come, and where did they go?
It was not hard to let my imagination run wild, and envision how they entice the daughters of man to sleep with them. However, I was not prepared and was completely amazed at how Brenna Lyons spun an astonishing tale and painted her own picture as to just what the sons of Heaven looked like and why they came to earth. This tale is completely believable if you let your mind roam free and think of the possibilities of other life forms, and worlds, or if you just like sci-fi/fantasy stories about angels, nephilim or winged men you will definitely be entertained with the plot in this one. Ms. Lyons’ writing is so vivid I can easily imagine how the winged master known as Beldon would look. A strong warrior ready to take on the world to protect his Sakk race and the young seedlings who were bred on Earth. I can see how it would be pretty intimidating for a warrior such as he to awaken not knowing if he was stranded on this alien world alone after being locked in a bio tube for a millennia. Getting no useful information from his sensors, and not sure what had awakened him, he fears he may die locked inside the tube.
Injured from a fall, Jannie Reynolds comes across the bio tube and frees Beldon. She soon realizes that she is not dead and the blue-eyed angel with white wings is a flesh and blood myth that archeologists live all their lives in hopes of discovering. Now the plot is set and the scenes come together to form an amazing story.
UFO’s and aliens were hot topics in the news back in 1958 when I was small and nephilim where talked about during Sunday school so I grew up enthralled with it all. The cover, title, and blurb hooked me and Ms. Lyons reeled me in with the plot, characters, and the delicious twist on the myths of the Sons of Heaven and the Daughters of Man, one that will open up possibility and fantasies for your dreams if you are as enchanted by the subject as I am. This reviewer was thrilled to see that Ms. Lyons continued the story with “The Daughters of Man” which I hope to read in the near future. As for “Sons of Heaven” I would not hesitate to recommend it.
