Steffan was the stand out character in this story. We all know at least one person in our lives who is a gentle giant like Steffan. He was a sweetheart who I just wanted to see be happy in the end and if Francis made him happy than I wanted him to get his man.
Francis is no slouch, either as a character. He has the inner strength of a true wolf. The conflict in this story left me a little baffled. I understood why Gunnar felt as if Steffan was a threat but the tension between the two was very wishy washy. One moment Gunnar seemed to want to beat Steffan up then the next he wanted to help Steffan and Francis work their problems out. The conflict also felt incomplete. This is part of a series so it may be carried over to the next story but I did not get a feeling that it was something that was purposefully left open-ended.
Regardless, it was the relationship development within this story that kept me turning pages. It flowed so seamlessly I continued to read until I was suddenly at the end. It is clear from the beginning that these two only have eyes for each other. The journey they take to reach a point of knowing they are true mates is one that will mesmerize anyone who picks up this story.
This story would also make a nice introduction to BDSM. Because the characters are just getting introduced to the BDSM games the reader gets to learn along with them.
