Edward is a mess, and yet there is strength in him as well. The attraction they feel for each other is hot and steady, but Callie is determined to complete her mission, no matter what. These characters are finely crafted, and I was brought to tears by Edward’s pain, and cheered by Callie’s strength.

And the supporting characters from the series also make appearances here in support of the ultimate mission to end the Empire’s grip on the world. No Empire book would be complete without Ms Marsters’ particular brand of hot and steamy sex, and the ultimate scene that provides Callie’s boost in power is so far over the top as to be incendiary. If you want a great read with lots of participation and passion, this installment of the Empire series comes highly recommended.
