He never expected his truemate to be a shifter, but nothing makes him hotter than when she purrs.

When a master vampire and a saber-tooth tigress get together, expect lots of neck biting and purring.

This is a quick creampuff bite of a story for paranormal romance fans. Caleb and Lia are cute together and entertaining.

The author piled together many paranormal tropes in the telling of this tale: mating scent, true mates and quick mating rites. This short story also has references to previous characters’ tales but the author wrote this in such a way to be fully standalone so I was comfortable meeting Lia and Caleb. There are established ground rules to how relationships grow within the world building that Ms. Butler has created so I just accepted the speed as a natural course of events. The result of which was the hurtling into the meeting and claiming of each other as mates. It’s kind of cute, interesting and very toothy.

Not a lot of time is spent getting to know what makes the main characters tick or learning about their personalities. Ms. Butler gave just enough to grab a reader’s interest but not enough to truly engage with, or about, a character’s emotions, save for lust and passion. I don’t know if a deeper emotional connection is developed from reading about Lia’s other two brother’s stories or if this is the pattern, but as far as Caleb’s Tempting Mate is concerned, enough was shown for me to at least enjoy myself.

There is no dark drama, no suspense or battles – Caleb’s Tempting Mate is simply a short shot of romance with a little sex thrown in to keep things spicy and exciting. This tale is the perfect length for a reader who needs a fast-paced romantic paranormal romp to unwind after a rough day. It’s not deep but it is fun.

The Lord Vampire of Rochester doesn’t do a favor without a price. And now it’s time to collect.

Gavin Drake, Baron of Darkwood is being pestered by nosy neighbors and matchmaking mothers of the mortal nobility. To escape their scrutiny, he concludes that it’s time to take a wife. After witnessing the young vampire Lenore’s loyalty to the Lord of London, he decides she is sufficient for the role.

After surviving abuse from rogue vampires, Lenore Graves wants to help other women recover from their inner wounds. She befriends mesmerist John Elliotson and uses her vampire powers to aid him with his patients. When the Lord of London declares that Lenore is the price the Lord of Rochester demands for aiding him in battle, she is terrified. Will all of her hard work be destroyed by Ruthless Rochester? Yet she can’t suppress stirrings of desire at the memory of their potent encounter.

After Gavin assures her that the marriage will be in name only, Lenore reluctantly accepts Gavin’s proposal. Determined to continue her work, she invites John Elliotson to Rochester. As they help women recover from traumas, Lenore explores her own inner turmoil and examines her attraction to her husband.

He knows he should put a stop to Lenore’s antics— yet her tender heart is warming his own and tempting him to make her his bride in truth.

As Lenore and Gavin’s relationship blossoms, the leader of a gang of rogue vampires embarks on a quest for vengeance against Gavin… using Lenore as his key.

This is a new and intriguing addition to the Scandals with Bite series that I’ve been really enjoying. I ‘met’ Lenore in the last book and I was very impressed with her bravery and determination. She is going to need every bit of that courage when she takes center stage in His Ruthless Bite.

Gavin, the hero, is as ruthless as his reported reputation and the author presents a reader with enough evidence to believe it. Yet I came to respect him and his decisions and judgment. The saving grace for Gavin is that he is fair, that he cares and not one of his people goes without his notice. He’s so different from what Lenore is used to that it takes her a while to find her feet with him.

The heroine has quite a bit of growing and healing to do. In the last book, she was tortured and traumatized. In this novel, which truly is a standalone read, she has a fresh start, an opportunity that she never believed she would ever have and a wonderful possibility for a great future; she just needs to tap into her inner strength and stand up for herself. Some of the things she does are amazing, and some are predictable. Part of learning about her own ability to stand up for herself has her testing not only herself but Gavin’s patience and goodwill. I found it interesting that in reading her point of view, Lenore can justify and rationalize her decisions but they don’t stand up to Gavin’s censure. She’s strong enough to admit when she’s wrong, then goes off and plans something else. Lenore is stubborn.

Gavin is an interesting hero. He initially has an atmosphere of ennui about him, hence the strange marriages he’s had in the past, and I enjoyed watching his waking up to love. As the story unfolds, there is an undercurrent of sadness and regret because of one of his past decisions and it comes back to haunt him. In exploring this conflict, the author shows a reader another aspect of Gavin’s character – he’s passionate and truly caring, and he loves deeply. Even when he’s supposed to do the unthinkable, he doesn’t because of how he feels about the person whom he had to punish. That facet of his personality plays an important role later on in the novel and it really solidified my belief that he is not only a good hero but perfect for Lenore.

Even with all the good stuff that is packed into this book, it didn’t continuously wow me; at times it was a ‘warm like.’ I think it’s because Lenore did predictable things, things that made me roll my eyes and think less of her. It was also in how Elliotson was portrayed. Initially he was described as nice and sincere, then it was sinister, then he was a fruitcake with obsessive plans, and Lenore’s reactions to him seem kind of waffly too. His inclusion was a necessary foil for the plot but it didn’t impress me much.

The fun scenes were when Gavin was wooing Lenore and those kisses led to more. There was a great build up from kisses on knuckles and necks to other places that made the pages steam. Those moments were written well.

All in all His Ruthless Bite has a lot to offer followers of the series as well as fans of historical paranormal romances. It’s entertaining and enriched with a few twists to keep the pages flipping. I liked Gavin and Lenore’s relationship and the promise of new beginnings at the end. This is a really good read and quite enjoyable.

Fun loving wolf-shifter Colton Albright’s usual concern…his next meal, has been replaced by haunted dreams. The nightly visions of the sad, anxious face of his mate have this jovial jokester withdrawing from his fellow Alpha Unit members.

Rheia Bradley is a dedicated professional that lives to help others, but has long forgotten how to help herself. When she arrives in Lycaonia seeking the protection of the warrior units, Colton is ecstatic to discover that she’s his mate. His relief is quickly eclipsed by one small problem, a tiny, solemn four-year-old girl who happens to be his mate’s adopted daughter. Which means… he is now a father!

While Rheia settles into her new job, Colton and all his fellow warriors are about to get a crash course on little girls. The men quickly learn that not one ounce of their centuries-long training has prepared any them for this precocious child.

When Rheia uncovers something about their enemy that puts her name next to her daughter’s on their hit list, Colton is willing to do anything to keep his new family safe. But will it be enough?

Ms. Alder is a genius at weaving a story plot arc that grows, intrigues, and grips a reader to the point that one never wants to stop. My Healer clinched it for me. The novels in this series are not standalones after all because even though, in this case, Rheia and Colton are the stars, the sense of continuous community abounds. Everyone I met in the previous two books is present although they act like moons orbiting a planet. The point of view is strictly Rheia and Colton’s but Aiden and Meryn, Gavriel and Beth, and others are still relevant and important players on the stage and contribute mightily to the plot conflict, momentum and family atmosphere. My enjoyment level because of it, is immense.

The sense of humor and pop culture references are alive and well with Dr. Who being primary. There is also a shift in the series, a slight darkening and the realization that the external conflict, the feral attacks, are not what everyone is used to fighting. There are some surprises in store for the reader as well as the main characters. The elements of drama and suspense are sinking their teeth more deeply as the story unfolds and in doing so creates in me a drive to read as fast as I can.

One of the surprises early on is the fact that this time around, Colton gets something extra along with his new mate – a daughter. I appreciated how the author handled the youngest addition to the family and how important a role she ends up being. The story is filled with moments showing just how loving, noble, protective and honorable all members of the units, particularly Alpha Unit, can be.

I appreciate that fact that, in each book so far, Ms. Alder takes the time to provide for a reader the justification of her main characters falling in love so fast. Each way has been unique. This is a paranormal romance series with magic, both fae and witch, and its influence is powerful, acceptable and believable.

There is a definite richness to this series and My Healer continues the enrichment. Once the sensual build up erupts to its natural conclusion, the physical loving is as hot and delicious as a reader who prefers that level of openness could wish. Colton may be the jokester but when it comes to loving Rheia, he’s as serious a lover as a lover could be.

Ms. Alder has another winner with My Healer and is not to be missed. This is turning out to be a gripping, exciting and well written series that is blowing me away. This particular novel has an emotional depth that the first two didn’t quite reach, and I credit it to the introduction of Penny. Nothing shows what type of character a person has as when they deal with a young child. This book rocked on so many levels and is an easy recommend. Paranormal romance readers simply have to give this series a whirl. It’s amazing!

Gavriel Ambrosios has been dreaming of his accident prone mate for weeks. Now that he is nearing the apex of his vampiric transition, she has made her way to Lycaonia, just when he is at his most dangerous.

Elizabeth Monroe was planning on staying in Lycaonia while humans forgot about the swan dive she took out of her boss’s office window. Little did she know that this short side trip was about to become permanent. Gavriel is the mate she has always dreamed of. Even as he sweeps her off her feet his need to protect her has him pushing her away. She’s both concerned with and drawn to his darker nature, but is determined to see him through his transition.

In the shadows their enemy has targeted Gavriel when they know he is at his most vulnerable. They creep ever closer to the Alpha estate putting the men on high alert.

But as the days get shorter and the nights get longer Elizabeth begins to wonder, which is the bigger threat? The enemy or her mate?

Profile of rapid cycling try these guys cialis for order most frequently observed. Ms. Alder has done it again – thoroughly entertained me while providing a fascinating romance that kept me glued to its pages. My Protector has some interesting surprises for readers.

My biggest joy comes from the fact that Meryn and Aiden are still around. They are now secondary characters to Elizabeth and Gavriel’s story yet as strong as they are, do not undercut the new hero and heroine on stage. In fact, they add to Elizabeth and Gavriel’s story in more ways than I thought possible.

One of the most amazing things about this novel is the busyness of all the action, verbal dialogue and repartee, and the fact that so many people are coming on board. There are so many it made my head spin but kudos goes to Ms. Alder for making it work, keeping it making sense and never letting the main couple be overwhelmed by all the action. It was like an organized soccer match where everyone worked as a team to get the ball (plot) into the net (HEA). I am suitably impressed.

I hope readers are going to be as fascinated by Gavriel as I am. He has a surprising history and is truly worthy of the title of ‘hero’. I also appreciate his fascination, worry, caring and love that he exhibits towards Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is a funny bunny. Okay, so she’s a klutzy bunny, but she’s a great heroine because she is smart, clever, wise, comical, and loves Dr. Who. What’s not to like?

As far as physical love goes, it’s a bit complicated loving a vampire – especially one who likes a little kink. That scene is certainly hot but what comes afterwards is full of emotions, decisions and is a character driven plot conflict. I appreciate Elizabeth all the more because she’s not all about the drama, but the loving. I respect that.

The problem of the soulless ferals attacking people in the town becomes a lot more complicated in My Protector. More revelations are revealed but it generates more questions. I truly believe that I can guess one person who might be involved in the evilness that is happening but the author is not ready for readers to find out the true motive. There’s more conflict coming and I can’t wait to find out what it might be. Talk about a story hook!

My Protector is another winner from Ms. Alder. Truly, this is only the second installment but if the books following are this good, I’m in it for the long haul. The author has created a vibrant, exciting and detailed world that I can’t wait to visit again. This book probably could stand on its own but having read My Commander previously, my enjoyment of My Protector was off the charts, better than the first. Therefore, I do recommend reading the first book before this one – it makes Meryn more funny, Gavriel more fascinating and the overall plot conflict that much more intriguing. This is a fast, gripping read and an easy recommend.

He meets his destined mate Meryn Evans and things go downhill from there. In the first twenty four hours she kicks, screams and knocks her bear shifting mate unconscious. They eventually discover that life before finding each other may have been good, but life afterwards is perfect, even if it involves super soaker battles and accidentally discharging hand grenades.

I laughed so many times during this paranormal romance because of the pop culture mashups that the heroine spouted, which created some of the most memorable and humorous moments in the story. If the author is a true fan of Dr. Who, Twister and other awesome shows, she picked some great lines to show it. And her heroine’s T-shirts? Totally grin-worthy.

I wasn’t too sure what I was getting into as I read the first chapter because Ms. Alder had Meryn meeting her mate, Aiden, so quickly. It was a bit unbelievable and seemed like it was happening at warp speed, but for all of that it was no less hysterical. I mean, how many heroines bean their hero over the head with a part of his own toilet? Or pull the pin on a grenade? Or turn a growly, alpha bear into her own teddy bear? Or wow a were-wolf shifter to the point of letting the heroine treat him like her own favorite puppy including belly scratches and ear rubs? Meryn is a very unique, engaging, funny heroine with an attitude, a love for coffee and who suffers PMS with a vengeance. On top of that, she’s wickedly smart and a great organizer. I totally liked Meryn as a heroine.

Aiden is her gruff bear who acts more bear and soldier than human man. He’s been so long dealing with shifter politics and in command that he has no concept of the finer aspects of courtship or patience with waiting for what he wants. He wants Meryn with such a force that he is his own worst enemy, which of course translates for fun reading. When one of his important “missions” is to obtain tampons for his mate, I was mentally rolling on the floor laughing. Oh my gosh was that ever funny!!! I am quite impressed with Ms. Alder’s sense of humor.

Secondary characters provide some of the plot motivation which contributes to crucial plot points later on in the book. A few of them, like Aiden’s parents are fleshed out enough to make me like them and enjoy reading about them in the story but they still seemed too nice, too easy, too accommodating. Then again, if they were written any differently it could have undermined where the author wanted the plot to go, so I can understand that and accept it while still feeling not 100% satisfied.

As it is, Meryn is the stronger of the characters because the plotline follows her mostly through her introduction, acceptance and eventual role in this new paranormal world she finds herself in. That includes the fact that someone has targeted her for death; but not before she’s magically, sadistically played with because someone wants her to fear before they kill her. The scary part is, a reader is never sure just who the mastermind is. As My Commander is the first in what looks to be a new series, that little carrot of Who, Why and How is left dangling for further exploration in the next book. Considering all the yummy guys I ‘met’ during the course of this novel, I’m going to be in for a treat as this overall story arc is explored.

My Commander is a grin-worthy delight for paranormal romance readers and should not be missed. Once the action gets going, the pace is fulfilling and brisk and is a real page flipper. I have no problems recommending this novel to other paranormal romance fans because there is a ton of good stuff within its pages. I adore Meryn and Aiden and get a kick out of their relationship. I am completely satisfied with their happy ever after and I’m sure many readers will enjoy it too. One of the most clever twists is the title – it seduces a reader into an assumption so kudos to the author for crafty wit. My Commander is definitely worth reading.

If readers are looking for a sexy paranormal romance story with lots of adventures in passion then Dark Promises delivers.

Aleksei is an ancient Carpathian and Ms. Feehan created her hero to be as deadly, dark and commanding as any she’s introduced readers to yet. The one element that is insidiously sensual is his dominance. All Carpathian men are control freaks due to their living in the time when men were warriors, but the author takes the hero to a new level. At first it is an extremely uncomfortable level especially when Gabrielle and Aleksei first meet. He’s wild, untamed, violent and uncontrollable. Fans of the series will understand what drives him and will more than probably accept his behavior with the understanding that he’s overwhelmed emotionally by all the feelings that bombard him all at once. Much of it comes from his misinterpretation of the situation. New readers might be turned off because his initial brutality is shocking; it was even for me, a longtime fan. Once the hero calms down and is able to listen, he slowly starts to figure out he was partly wrong. Never totally wrong, mind you, but certainly some.

Gabrielle is a hard heroine to completely like. She has her moments and I believe and agree with Aleksei’s understanding of her; she’s a submissive. How that revelation comes about needs to be read to understand why I agree. Submissive doesn’t mean ‘doormat’, it means she needs someone to lean on when she needs it and needs–here’s the big thing–to trust that the person will deliver, will be there for her and will understand her needs. When the heroine’s strength has to be counted upon, she comes through. Her character flowers under Aleksei’s care because he truly does ‘get’ her. One scene even dabbles with a little bit of light BDSM hence the mention of Gabrielle’s being submissive. I just didn’t like all the crying she did.

The flowering, so-to-speak comes from sex; lots of sex. I think Ms. Feehan basically shows how Gabrielle and Aleksei fall in love, come to terms with and learn about each other, through all the sex scenes that populate the book. In fact there is so much of it, page after page, that I was hard pressed to find an external conflict. There are a few token suspenseful moments but it goes right back to sex. Dark Promise is basically a hot, sexy romance with light paranormal drama to enhance the love story.

For me, what stole the limelight and the show away from the emotional drama that is the Gabrielle and Aleksei show was Trixie. When Trixie meets Fane, it was pure magic. I’m not sure how to describe their meeting but it was more romantic, fun and enjoyable than the main hero and heroine. I adored Trixie. I liked her sass, her moral compass and her dedication to family. I was thrilled with how Fane treated her, thought of her and talked with her. I felt happy, completely happy when they were on stage. As secondary characters finding their HEA, Ms. Feehan presented a winning combo. Fane and Trixie rock!

The book winds down with hooks for new books, new characters and Carpathian men to save. Certainly I want to read them because I never know just how the author is going to save the hero and what kind of woman is up to the job of taming her caveman Carpathian. That’s half the fun of this series – old fashioned warrior men versus strong-willed modern women.

Dark Promises does have a satisfying happy ever after and tells a good romance story. Many fans will enjoy it and for those that just love the sexy side of a Carpathian romance, those readers are probably going to be extremely happy.

Holing up in their respective corners, a battle of wills ensues. Who will be the first to blink…or give in to their off-the-charts chemistry and decide to make this unorthodox living arrangement a little more permanent?

If you’re in the mood for a quirky, fun and busy romance, then this is the book to choose. It’s busy because the story is told in a panoramic scope with many characters playing roles that affect, help or play practical jokes on the main characters, Rory and Amber. It’s quirky because of the characters’ personalities and how they play off of each other and it’s fun because of the dialogue, the adventure and the romance. There’s a lot to enjoy.

I Dream of Dragons is told from four points of view, Rory’s, Amber’s, a third party and a ghost. Most of the story is told via Rory or Amber but the plot is stirred, poked and prodded by the other two. There are life changing circumstances, a secondary romance, a feud revealed and a plot fueled by greed. There is also references to other characters that more than likely appear in a different series and have crossed over to help give older fans a feeling of continuation, especially if they are well liked characters; and for new readers, a reason for curiosity about how the couples found their own HEAs. As it is, the secondary characters help smooth over the major transitions both Rory and Amber experience.

The positive strength of having all these sub-plots and secondary characters populate the novel is a dual-edged sword. It also has the unfortunate effect of keeping a reader slightly off-balance. If not for the extreme likeability of everyone, the constant shifting would have turned me off. Too many things going on make the story seem like a three-ring circus – I feel like I’m missing something somewhere because I can’t concentrate on all three at once and I feel disjointed because the focus is constantly fluctuating. I like a book with a smooth flow, this one doesn’t read like that. Nevertheless, it is entertaining, fast moving and its gem is the romance story.

Also, this is a perfect book for readers who do not want a dark edge or intense, stress-filled drama. The conflict is rather mild but it certainly did its job in affecting the plot. Sometimes, people’s personality conflicts and how they face life’s challenges creates the clash one needs for an interesting tale.

I Dream of Dragons is an easy recommend, especially for dragon fans, paranormal romance fans or anyone looking for a fun, light and briskly entertaining read. The chemistry between Rory and Amber is very apparent and I enjoyed meeting them and watching them navigate their path to love. I had fun.

Clarissa has no intention of marrying anyone—not Edwin, whom she’s sure would be an overbearing husband, and certainly not the powerful French diplomat stalking her. But when matters escalate with the diplomat, she chooses Edwin’s gallant offer of a marriage between friends in hopes that it will deter her stalker. She expects nothing more than an amiable union, but their increasingly tempestuous kisses prove more than she bargained for. When her stalker’s vow to expose the lovers’ deepest secrets threatens to destroy their blossoming attraction, will their tenuous bond withstand public ruin, or will Edwin lose all that’s important to him to protect his bride?

The Study of Seduction includes a hefty emotional plot that deals with being a survivor of physical violence at a time when such things were never discussed, dealt with, confronted or acknowledged. Women back in the day were victimized twice over because for some twisted reason, society always seemed to lay the blame on the woman no matter how innocent, pure or precious she was. There were some men who had their heads screwed on straight, their compassion and willingness to put the blame squarely where it belonged, on the criminal, made them unsung heroes; and then there were other men who all too easily believed another man over a woman, misogyny at its most vile. This novel explores the results of those two types of men, and how it dominos in time, and a woman who has to struggle to be perfect for society, play by its rules, act like she’s like every other eligible lady looking to make a match, yet never reveals what happened to her. In fact she’s too embarrassed and has been dealing with it on her own – not that that’s working out too well for her. This is the backdrop of the story in which a reader will watch as a romance between Clarissa and Edwin emerges. The plot is a serious one for sure, but the romance between the hero and heroine is beautiful, poignant, challenging, frustrating (for Edwin) and delightful.

Ms. Jefferies even adds another plot conflict to spice things up. Seriously, The Study of Seduction isn’t for readers who want fluffy, cotton candy, brainless fun. This is flavored like a romantic suspense novel, with a mystery to solve and daring villains that seem to have unlimited power to plague the heroine. Certainly, this book is a page flipper because the pace is brisk, the dialogue is crisp and the personality byplays between Clarissa and Edwin were engaging, entertaining and many times, heart wrenching or just so incredibly romantic, they made me swoon.

Another strong element is the secondary supporting characters. They were such a great asset to the novel as a whole. Considering the sheer meatiness of the plot and the intrigues that abounded, the main characters needed people in their corner and the author provided a wonderful cast to help out. The best part came at the end with a big, happy, unexpected surprise that made the happy ever after extra special and exciting. I was thrilled!

My favorite aspect of the book was Edwin’s love for Clarissa. For readers who feel a romance is healthier when physical expressions are explored, fear not. Edwin works magic and eventually, Clarissa gets into the swing of things and discovers her inner playful siren. It’s all good.

The Study of Seduction is a must read for fans of Ms. Jeffries. This one is a winner. It’s busy, and easy to read even if it’s about a subject that is a little dark because the author balanced everything just right. I cannot think of a single thing that I would change about this novel. It’s well done, well written and an easy book to recommend.

Romance and mystery, justice and happy endings, suspense and surprises, all are components that make Ghostly Liaison great entertainment and a book worth recommending.

This is a ghost story with heart. It’s about a brother’s love for his sister, a woman trying to come to terms with why she’s even alive and her place in life, her relationship with her parents and the love of a dog that is truly unconditional. There is so much beauty and feeling woven into all the characters it seemed jarring to find a killer stalking some of the characters.

I liked Rob and Bridget. I enjoyed how the author told the story from both their perspectives but in such a way I didn’t feel like it was head hopping. It’s mostly told from the heroine’s point of view because most of the action revolved around her. She had to reconcile the fact that she could see ghosts, that she was falling in love, and she somehow had to eventually accept that she deserved love. I also appreciated how Ms. McKitrick wrote Rob. He’s acted like a real man would. I could relate to him because he wasn’t some alpha macho over the top hero with crazy skills. He was a man who took chances on love, was loyal, earnest and believed the best in people. Rob was also a person who felt emotions deeply and sometimes, he let them rip. His doing so made me respect his character all the more. He was approachable and eventually, believed in Bridget, all of her. There’s nothing more romantic than a man who loves a woman for who she is, not what she believes others expect her to be.

For most of the book, the external and internal conflicts work. The only thing that grew to be a tad repetitive was Bridget’s insistence that Rob would be better off without her; that her scars were insurmountable obstacles to any kind of relationship, with anyone, and she didn’t deserve the attention of the hero. As a conflict, based on her background, it works to a major degree but there is such a thing as overkill and I think for some readers it might have reached that; for others it might teeter on the line of their tolerance level. Rest assured she gets beyond it, but it takes some serious drama and suspense from the villain to catapult her to clearly seeing what is truly important in life. It becomes crystal.

Barnaby is a wonderful touch for a supporting character and I really believe his role was pivotal in this novel. I liked Kate and the cute interaction between the next door neighbors. There were so many elements that gave this story a depth of emotion that it engaged me all the way through.

Ghostly Liaison is a wonderful blend of romance and crime-solving mystery that’s easy to recommend to readers. I really enjoyed myself even when I almost came off my chair at the part with the reptile. Yeah, that was writing at its best.

Kate Benton is stunned. Who is this arrogant, infuriating man who’s invited himself into her home and taken over her life? Her vow: to do everything in her power to convince him to leave her—and Brambly House—alone. Yet as chilly days melt into sultry nights, Kate sees glimpses of kindness underneath Edward’s cool façade . . . and a passionate nature that takes her breath away. There’s so much she doesn’t know about this man. But does she dare trust this devilish duke with her heart?

I really liked meeting Kate and Edward. The start of their relationship was highly unconventional and unique and because of that the book was hard to put down. How can the actions of revenge turn into the catalyst for romance and a happy ever after? Dukes are Forever answers that by telling a tale that ends with a wonderful resolution. This is pure romance.

This is the first book in what appears to be a trilogy. It’s about three men who served in war together and their friendship was born and solidified on the battlefield. Their war is over and they are back in polite society where Edward, the hero in this book, and Grey and Thomas need to find their place in the ton.

Edward is now the Duke of Strathmore but he’s not happy about it. His life isn’t turning out to be the way he wanted so this story is about finding the one thing he was missing in his life and he hopes to embrace it. Not in his wildest dreams could he imagine how it would come about. The conflict comes from bringing a doll to his new ward only to find out that his ward is a lot older than he was led to believe. Kate is her name and healing is her calling. She’s feisty, opinionated, and independent and as far from a typical society miss as one can get. It’s Kate’s unusualness that sparks life into Edward’s cold heart and makes him engage in life again. The sparks fly, passions are stirred and there are plenty of reasons for a reader to not want to put the book down. The storytelling is strong and the dialogue is brisk and peppery, but it’s funny at times too.

What isn’t funny is the darkness that focuses on Kate. What she doesn’t know is that the person she should be able to trust most in her life ends up being quite the opposite. I had no idea it would go so far so I felt really bad for the heroine. For so long she had hope, she strived to be what expected of her and demanded little, all in the vain hope that someday things would be better. Edward is the only light in her life and a reader will be able to see that all too clearly.

When Kate and Edward to explore the physical side of their growing love and attachment, it’s sensual, sexy and sometimes fun. The scenes were written effectively and I enjoyed their banter and how well they played off of each other. It took Edward a while to come to terms with his feelings but once he does, like his military career, he’s focused on an objective, and in Dukes are Forever Kate is the prize.

I also liked the secondary characters, Edward’s brothers in arms, Thomas and Grey. Since they are going to have their own stories eventually, the author did a wonderful job of fleshing them out, making them interesting and creating an effective hook for readers to want more. I know I certainly do. I really enjoyed Ms. Harrington’s Dukes are Forever. This was a great romance and I can’t wait for Grey’s story!
