Had a stressful day? Had enough drama for a while? Then The Greek’s Nine-Month Surprise is the perfect book to kickback with and relax. This is a comfortable, sweet and well-told romance that is soothing and can make a reader happy because the HEA is so full of love.

I kept waiting for something harsh, sour or some other kind of manufactured conflict to heighten the tension but I never got it. This novel does have a conflict but it’s mostly internal, emotional and familial. There is passion between the two main characters of Niko and Sofia, but the author focused on their getting to know each other, and of Niko trying every way he could think of to seduce Sofia into saying ‘yes’ to marrying him. He has a few flops along the way. Niko’s got a lot to learn about being a well-rounded human being and I enjoyed Sofia teaching him in the only way she knew how – by being herself.

This is classic romance and quite entertaining. There were some dialogue gems sprinkled throughout that enhanced the story’s ability to grab my attention and keep it, and allowed me to connect with the hero and heroine.

I think the most poignant element was watching Niko discover his heritage, his family and how much his grandfather truly loved him. That was the strongest scene in the whole novel because it really tugged on my emotions.

The Greek’s Nine-Month Surprise is definitely worth a look. It has heart, it’s simple and it’s a pleasant, pleasing read. I’m happy I read it.

Star Crossed has a multilayered emotional plot which includes an assassination attempt, emotional quagmires, personality conflicts, family dynamics and a mystery that needs to be solved sooner rather than later or someone else is going to die. A reader knows pretty much from the beginning just who A.J. (Alexandra) and Luke are to each other because of what happens early in the book. The thing is, neither A.J. nor Luke has any idea just how momentous and devastating that moment in time affected them into the present. I like how Ms. Holly weaves their fates together at points in their lives. A.J. and Luke grow, mature and become what each will need later in life. Then, the author creates the perfect storm that brings them together again and the rest is romance magic.

The mystery of who the shooter was, the motivation and why the criminal was so determined made for some fascinating reading; I couldn’t put the book down. The best thing is that I never guessed who the culprit was. I thought I had a clue or two but I really didn’t. I liked the surprise. The villain was certainly a few cards short of a full deck, that’s for sure.

The most heartbreaking revelation was Luke’s finally telling the full story to A.J. of what happened to him that lead up to that fateful day. That was powerful writing and it affected me. The sad part is, stuff like that really can happen. I wish there were more A.J.s around; people compelled to help someone else in need even when it’s against the odds.

There were a lot of dialogue moments that made me pause and re-read them again just to appreciate just how profound and effective they were. Ms. Holly certainly had moments of pure genius when working with her characters in this novel. I was very invested in A.J.’s and Luke’s safety and happiness.

Fans of Ms. Holly’s erotic works are given a lot of opportunities to experience what the author writes best when it comes to those scenes. What I enjoyed this time around was that all the spice and heat were between the main protagonists. The excitement and titillation helped foster their budding love and romance and I liked that all that sexy passion proved fruitful.

Star Crossed is a very sexy romantic suspense that delivers on the promise of suspense, excitement and love. It’s a great read and an easy recommend.

I liked meeting Dare and Haven. They worked well together and I enjoyed watching how they took turns taking baby steps in revealing their innermost hopes, dreams, hurts and pains. They both come from messed up backgrounds so it makes sense that they’d have a hard time not only recognizing, but admitting to being in love. Yet, each time their eyes lock, they touch, kiss or talk about peanut butter cookies, a reader can feel the emotion and passion between them.

The villain in the piece is very well drawn and he’s evil. Haven is right to be scared; her father has lost his humanity. Proof of that comes in the climactic finale. During that same scene, a reader sees just how far Haven has come in being her own person with her own will. It’s impressive writing.

The bedroom door is blasted right open and readers who enjoy scenes of high-powered, intense and powerful passion will find plenty of opportunities for satisfaction. It helps that they also help grow Haven and Dare’s romance and relationship. That’s important to me for those kinds of scenes to impress me.

Fans of Ms. Kaye should be in their happy place while reading Ride Hard . I’m a first time reader and I enjoyed myself so much that I’m interested in past books written by this author. Her style is such that the men come across as men; they work hard and play harder and when they love, it’s forever. They’re my kind of romance heroes.

Gunnolf’s story has been a long time coming. He’s been a favorite of mine just because for almost all of the series, all standalones, he’s been the loyal sidekick, the trusted friend and always had the makings of a hero. In The Viking’s Highland Lass he finally gets his chance, but he’s got to work for it. How? By resisting his urges and behave like a gentleman. I enjoyed his discomfort because Brina is a significant challenge to his composure.

I liked the fact that the seduction of Brina occurred by forced restraint. Gunnolf’s control, even though the heroine could tell it cost him, not only impressed her but it laid the foundation of trust. That’s important for any relationship, but because Brina is used to men controlling her, not taking into account her feelings or wishes, trust does not come easy. I enjoyed watching her flower under Gunnolf’s care.

The conflict is typical for the time period – father dictates who his daughter will marry and the daughter knows she’s going to be in a world of hurt if it comes to pass. Drastic measures needs be taken and Brina doesn’t waste any time in escaping. Cue the start of her adventure.

The villain is an easy spot. He’s just enough on the scene to make it rough and threatening to the heroine, and by association, Gunnolf. However, he’s not present enough to take away from the budding romance between the hero and heroine. He’s a great reason to throw them together and an incentive to propel the movement of the plot.

The paranormal aspect comes from Gunnolf’s grandmother and a secondary character named Wynne. And, although Wynne is a more significant character than Brina or anyone could have dreamed, her role in this novel didn’t wow me. Her talent certainly is formidable and key in plot movement, I’ll grant you that. However, at one point she gives specific advice about how the talent to foresee can’t be forced and it’s ambiguous at best, whereas her talent reads like a controlled remote viewing camera with sound. It’s too convenient and a little unbelievable.

What was really written well were the passionate moments between Brina and Gunnolf. I enjoyed how he seduced her and how she blossomed under his tutelage. I also liked how some of the characters from past books showed up to help out. Again, their inclusion does not mean that a new reader will get lost. Not at all. They support and assist the hero and heroine where it counts and behaved as perfect secondary characters should.

The Viking’s Highland Lass is everything I hoped for when it comes to an HEA for Gunnolf. He deserved a special lass to fall in love with and Brina is perfect for him. I really enjoyed myself and can easily recommend this book. It’s a wonderful romance and I’m a happy reader.

The format is basically taking each chapter to showcase a different person/situation and how they’re affected by the earth’s gravity not working like Sir Isaac Newton said it did. There’s the firefighter, the pilot, the child, and the scientist. Sean is the firefighter who provides the best emotional conflict; Michael, the pilot that crashed behind enemy lines and somehow has to survive and live to see another day, provides the action and suspense aspect of the conflict; and Holden is the child with the insight the adults ignore and his point of view gives readers a chance to look at the crisis in a magical, although still worrisome, way. As far as the scientist goes, the blurb gives him a much bigger role than he actually has in the book. Dr. Restrepo’s presence is extremely important as far as providing the cast and readers with the skinny as to what is actually happening. His role as the canary in the mine is reminiscent of Terry Rapson’s role in The Day After Tomorrow, but not as convincing or evolved. The plot definitely benefits from having someone of science back up the findings and gives credence to the announcement to the world that comes later.

I like how the book starts, like a movie. It’s an innocent preview of what is about to happen. It seems innocuous, certainly from the point of view of the kids but like all great disaster films, it’s only the beginning. And that’s what I found so enjoyable about this story, it reads like a movie and it was easy to envision the action in my head. Everything built from there.

I’d read a couple of reviews about this novella after I’d read it and someone mentioned editing issues. Honestly, I never saw any. I was so completely engrossed in the plot, the action surrounding the characters and the way things built and built, it kept me on the edge of my seat reading as fast as I could. Nothing bumped me out of the story, nothing undermined my enjoyment and I actually liked the formatting of the storytelling. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was Dr. Restropo’s role; it was necessary but not developed enough to carry the weight of the responsibilities that his role was imbued with. It was cluttered with unnecessary details like the shiny nose.

The funniest scene and a true creative lark was the chocolate flatulence. I outright laughed at that and thought it comic genius. The emotional conflict between Sean and Jenny, Carter was the main thread that wove through the entire tale and it felt realistic to me. Love and all its messy complications, of loss and healing, trust and redemption are what gave this book heart and the reason to survive. The complicated romance situation was not the center of the story, the potential catastrophe was, but the romantic elements certainly gave readers a connection to the main characters.

I truly enjoyed reading Pulse: When Gravity Fails and give it a thumbs up for readers of science fiction disaster themes and of stories about people who survive against incredible odds. I would like to see this be turned into a movie, even if it only ever aired on the SyFy channel. It has the right elements to be an entertainment success.

Mending the Bear has a good story and does not need to be read in order of the series as it’s a solid standalone tale. It might be the 13th in the series but since I forgot the finer details of stories I’d read in the past, I’m perfectly comfortable recommending this little gem to newbie paranormal romance readers of the Kalispell Shifters series.

It starts off with Ian being wronged. And wow, does he ever have a temper. The good thing is that he does not take it out on people, at least, not directly. He splashes through puddles and throws some fish around so it’s not too terrible. But a reader definitely gets the impression that the hero is hurting and he’s not able to think beyond his immediate pain. What I liked was that all his friends and family rallied around him and tried to cheer him up. Ian does have to make restitution and I felt the council was more than fair. In fact their edict introduced him to Eve and that was the best part.

Eve was there in Kalispell to turn over a new leaf in her life. She knows what she wants and won’t settle for less. What she didn’t expect was to meet Ian and her reaction to him. She’s not quite sure what to do because the hero instills in her feelings she never even had for her first husband. Eve had her moments of doubt but she gamely decides that she isn’t going to fear going after what she wants, and she wants Ian. And the fun begins.

The author dabbles in some foreshadowing that had me expecting something dramatic or sinister to happen, but never did. Ms. Devereaux reiterated that eerie factor with Charlie so I expect it to pop up in a future story. At least in Mending the Bear a reader only has to deal with the internal conflict between Eve and Ian. It’s solid enough that no external conflict is required.

I did notice a bunch of editing issues, one of which is a point of view error when it was supposed to be Ian speaking but was identified as Eve. Another thing that made me raise an eyebrow was Eve’s reaction to when she finally sees Ian’s furry side. It was too rushed and a bit unrealistic for me considering what lead up to it. Sure, what came after would thrill erotic romance readers but I prefer a bit more substance and emotion to what should have been an earth shattering moment but instead was glossed over.

As for the elements that erotic romance fans like to see, Ms. Devereaux does not disappoint. The bedroom door is completely wide open so fans should like what they read.

Mending the Bear is an easy read with a likeable hero and heroine. It has its shining moments and has engaging dialogue to keep a reader interested. It’s a decent story with a satisfactory HEA. The hook at the end means more fun is in store for fans of the Kalispell Shifters. I hope Cade’s story is as entertaining as this one was.

A reader will see through examples shared in the novel just how skewed and twisted her exposure has been. They have formed her, hardened her and fed her determination to not only not mate an alpha wolf, but to not mate at all ever again. How is Eric going to get around that hurdle? By just being himself, which is pretty awesome as I’m sure he’d agree.

The internal conflict comes from Pepper and her extreme distrust and reluctance to even consider allowing Eric to pursue her. But she’s charmed despite herself, so I enjoyed watching her get seduced. The only drawback is the repetitive nature of her resistance to not wanting to be mated to an alpha. The author made that abundantly crystal clear early on; the constant reminders wore thin after a while and made me want to yell, “I get it! I get it!”. Eventually, she stops resisting because Eric is irresistible. The external conflict comes from the kind of alpha male that she abhors and he’s as stubborn, wily and ambitious as any criminal who wants what others have. The depth of his determination stems from something that happened in Pepper’s past and it was a surprise to find out how it played into the drama and suspense of the plot.

The author took some time to explore Pepper and Eric’s jobs and responsibilities, and gave me some idea of each of their personalities, character and quirks. It fleshed them out enough for readers to feel connected and interested in what happens to them. I know it did that for me.

One thing that happens, and what romance readers enjoy, is when the main characters succumb to the physical passion that drives them. All scenes were well written, steamy and effective.

Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply is fun, steamy, interesting and a page turner of a novel. I did enjoy myself. I liked the happy ever after ending and I thought it was romantic. Pepper and Eric went through a lot to get there but the journey was worth it. I’m pretty sure fans of the series will enjoy this story and since it’s a standalone read, there’s plenty for new readers to enjoy too.

While the hero is off trying to save the day, who else is Aleck going to threaten, or even, worse, kill? After an opening chapter like this in Wild Things, there is no way anyone can just put this book down and walk away, especially not me.

The promise of the first chapter is realized all through the book. It kept my interest; it was exciting, twisty and seductive. There were definite moments of fun which often came from Mason and Jazz’s (short for Jasmine) interactions between themselves and other secondary characters – that includes all the dialogue and descriptions of their reactions. It was a very busy book.

When they finally find the healer, Zander, the scene that affected me the most is when he came face to face with Olaf. That held me emotionally suspended over a sharp point of a figurative needle. I had no idea which way it was going to go and I was quite fearful.

The novel is a great read with a lot to recommend it, not the least of which is the romance that grows between Mason and Jazz as they do their dangdest to find the elusive healer that so many have pinned their hopes on to save a man thought lost to not only them but his mate who carries his child. I like the dynamics between Mason and Jazz and thought they were a well matched couple.

Wild Things is a stellar addition to the series. It can be read alone or out of order of the series, which is what I did. I missed the last few but I never felt like I lost out while reading this tale. I knew Aleck was in a bad way from a few books ago, and I’m thrilled I was able to see the story arc come to a kind of conclusion in this book. I chose wisely. And I liked meeting Jazz – she’s good for Mason. This book is an easy recommend to paranormal romance fans and definitely for fans of the series. Don’t’ miss it!

This was a one sitting read that thrilled me to my toes. It takes place in the world of The Guardians of Eternity but Burned by Darkness is the first of a new series filled with dragons.

Levet, the adorable little gargoyle, is along for the ride while contributing humor and hijinks like in the other series but his antics are toned down so as to not dilute the impact of Tayla and Baine’s romance. The hero and heroine have a lot of hurdles to overcome before they can breathe a sigh of relief and explore their passions in relative safety. Seems quite a few villains want to kidnap Tayla, and Baine is at a loss as to explain why. She’s just an imp, right? Gorgeous, a talented baker of scones and somehow a draw to some powerful villains, Baine has to figure things out in time to save Tayla because if he doesn’t he could lose her forever. That’s a major story conflict that had me glued to its pages and I couldn’t stop reading.

I enjoyed meeting Baine’s right hand man, Char. He’s hunky in his own right and I suspect Cupid is going to be paying him a visit some day and I can’t wait. Meanwhile, he was fleshed out enough to be a definite asset to Baine and his quest to claim Tayla as his mate. Not that Baine recognized that fact in the beginning. Guys, or in this case, dragons, who have been alone for 500 years tend to be slow on the uptake. Still, when he finally figures it out, it was almost too late. Great fire-breathing dragon scenes ensued.

The passion between the hero and heroine is volatile and steamy so if readers like the door wide open, the author wrote the scenes well for readers to enjoy.

I am quite satisfied with the happy ever after for Burned by Darkness and I can safely say that Ms. Ivy has new winner of a series shaping up. I’m quite excited and eagerly await more. I like the way she writes her romances.

What I also found endearing was Martin’s relationship with his mother. I enjoyed seeing it change and mature and seeing them come together as a family. Their relationship ended up sweet with a tart and cheeky twist. I liked it.

I liked many of the secondary characters and I enjoyed how they fit into the plot. I liked the dialogue in the novel and of course I enjoyed how all that sensual buildup finally came to fruition. Helen sure made Martin dance a merry tune.

As for Martin’s brother, he really needed a swift kick. As far as I’m concerned, the hero let him off lightly. I l liked Hazelmere though; he really tried to help but truly, he was as clueless about Helen as Martin was. Ferdie was the only one that seemed the most intuitive. I liked his character. My favorite scene was the one at the church. I love it when an HEA comes together.

All in all, Fair Juno” is a great historical romance and is undeniably entertaining. There is an interesting internal conflict with just the right amount of external conflict to keep the main characters on their toes, and a reader flipping pages. I’m a satisfied reader.
