This is a really sweet romance story that is character driven and whose cast includes an opinionated cat and a donkey who thinks the cat is his BFF.

The Accidental Cowboy has plenty of adorable, charming and special moments sprinkled throughout. The romance that grows between Lavonda and Jones occurs in spits and spurts. There are mistaken assumptions, untruths or partial truths and marriage proposals for all the wrong reasons that create conflicts between them. Most are rectified and the main characters make up, and then there are the ones that cause some serious emotional plot twists that make a reader wonder if they’ll ever be honest with each other and come clean on all levels.

The one thing that annoyed me was Lavonda forcing Jones to admit what he was really doing. I simply could not understand the complete disregard for the possibility that Jones might be onto something. I didn’t like how the revelation was handled, how the university responded or how the people involved acted. Then, Lavonda finally lets her starch out, regrets her prudish demands and does an about face to then support Jones. All this at a time when his departure and lack of funding have finally become a reality does she finally decide to make the fateful journey to see what there was to see. I suppose better late than never, but this was the only area in the entire book where I did not think Lavonda a good heroine. I thought she was a ninny.

If not for that implausible conflict, the book is a good read. I thought the man/woman differences, the Scottish and the American differences, were well done, entertaining and put to good use. I’m a sucker for a rolling Scottish accent and Lavonda is no different except she actually gets her own Scotsman to romance her and I thought she was one heck of a lucky lady.

I’d classify this novel as a gentle romance with some light spicy loving to illustrate that both Lavonda and Jones are highly compatible. There are even some moments of effective self-sacrifice which showcases that they are worthy of the titles hero and heroine. The Accidental Cowboy ends with a confusing (because Lavonda comes from a loving but zany sounding family) but effective and humorous happy ever after that made the whole journey worth it. If you have time for a sweet read, then this is a good book to choose.

In Wolf’s point of view I get to see his reaction to Becca. It’s satisfyingly entertaining because he loses the capacity for speech and logical thought. He truly becomes a horn-dog but the only woman he’s panting after is Becca. I thought the love advice he received and whom it received it from made for some of the most endearing scenes in the whole book.

No, wait – I think Becca’s canine companion, Einstein, was the most endearing, and hysterical. I strongly believe Einstein knew something about the two humans long before they did. Personally, I think the beloved dog was the true matchmaker of the story. His many ‘gifts’ to Wolf provided no end of chuckles and giggles.

As for Becca, she had to overcome some serious distrust. Unfortunately Wolf provided reasons himself that fed her fear. The poor guy seemed to suffer from ‘open mouth, insert foot’ syndrome and when he messes up, it’s a whopper. What was frustrating was that he was so super close! This is where the light BSDM came in, with the blindfold and restraints. It wasn’t a lifestyle he was introducing her to but a means to teach her to trust. There is actually a lot more I could say about this story because it was chock-full of interesting characters and action but the romance was its strongest point and the happy ever after was perfect. I definitely recommend this little nugget to romance readers who want a quick happy ever after that jostles the emotions but delivers a cheerful and fun ending. Santa Wore Leathers is worth every second reading.

This book has it all – humor, excitement, a bit if heavy hitting drama, romance, some eccentric but adorable characters, rambunctious dogs and last but not least, sexy shenanigans. For the Love of a Fireman is complete entertainment.

When I got this book, I had no idea there was BDSM in it, but the premise sounded so good, I took a chance. I’m happy to say that it’s light BDSM, and the heroine was the one being introduced to it. I actually liked how the author presented it, explored it between her characters and made it about emotions, trust and other positives that helped Barclay and Molly’s relationship grow. Because the lifestyle is a tad unconventional, the author used it as part of the internal plot conflict. It worked.

Barclay is a broken man who is afraid of opening his heart again. Molly is juggling a lot of sad emotional baggage on her own – she’s surviving but not thriving. The two truly meet in an explosive encounter that blasted the path to a relationship wide open. There were no tentative steps to take in this story – every step on their journey is bold, productive and revealing. There’s not a boring scene in the whole book.

I laughed out loud quite a few times, especially with the references to James Bond. I got the biggest kick on how Ms. Davis incorporated those humorous little quips into Molly and Barclay’s mating dance.

Secondary characters are very important in this novel. They provide heart, insight and support when it’s needed most. The relationship between Molly’s dad and Milt was priceless. Other important secondary characters were the dogs – they made for effective comic relief.

As for the drama I mentioned earlier, it was brief but intense and gripping. The author wasn’t overly dramatic with the descriptions; she was short and to the point and managed to keep me at the edge of my seat all the way through. I actually re-read that section twice. Molly was so brave!

The focus of For the Love of a Fireman is Molly and Barclay’s romance. The author took the time to let a reader get to know them, care for them, and root for them when things got messy. The BDSM lifestyle isn’t the star of the book, it’s just a part of who Barclay is and how it affected, for good or ill, his relationship with Molly.

For the Love of a Fireman is truly delightful. It’s sexy, funny and warmhearted with just the right amount of external conflict to keep a reader engaged and fascinated. I had an awesome time reading this novel and have no problem recommending it to other romance readers. The story is that good.

What no one realizes is that Maggie has set in motion of chain of events that no one could have predicted.

I laughed at how she got Sebastian to help her. I liked how grumpy he was and when he tried his The Raven glare at her, she sassed him right back. Maggie refused to let him get to her. But, eventually he does get to her, in the best of ways. And, true to romantic tradition, she gets him right back and softens him up like warmed up clay – still some lumps in there but she won’t totally give up until Sebastian reaches his full potential. His resistance is futile in the light of final truth.

My emotions were taffy pulled all over the place while reading. There are layers upon layers to unravel and as each one is revealed, the pages kept flipping faster. Each chapter is an exercise in amazement and entertainment. There is a mystery to solve and intrigue to puzzle out. The pace is brisk, the dialogue crisp, sometimes saucy and when Sebastian finally seduces Maggie to the ultimate act, it’s romantically sizzling and satisfying.

I had a blast reading Marriage Most Scandalous, and have no qualms about encouraging readers to discover this treat for themselves. The story is meaty, captivating, and filled with full-bodied characters worth getting to know. I enthusiastically tout this novel as a recommended read.

If readers enjoy the marriage of convenience theme then this is the romance for you. I like the fact that Merina and Reese were actually very well matched. Perceptions, assumptions, laser focused goals and passionate explosions of dialogue were effective walls between the two, but it was the passionate speech with the door knob that set the stage for knocking down all those walls. What follows allows readers and each protagonist to get to know one another. The results, though shocking, disconcerting and surprisingly sexy to Merina and Reese, were pure entertainment for me. The Billionaire Bachelor is a fun spin on a well-loved theme.

This novel is quite the see-saw. Reese is broken, Merina isn’t, sort of. Then Merina gets really broken and Reese has to step up and take the scariest risk of his life. How it all comes about, from learning what broke the hero, to what makes a confident Merina into a woman uncertain of her womanhood, to forging a bond that takes both hero and heroine by surprise and actually makes them better people, is why this story is so compelling. I didn’t find any slow paced scenes in the book; the author kept this character driven romance rolling right along. Reese is complicated, with pride and shame coloring his stubbornness. Merina is loving, mostly open and the first one willing to take a chance on making this marriage deception into something real and forever. As with any good romance, the conflict makes that a bum decision, at first. I like how the author resolved it.

I enjoyed meeting the secondary characters that populated the novel in support of Reese and Merina. I found that Reese’s dad and brother were more developed as characters than Merina’s parents or her best friend. I have an idea that it was a planned decision since Tag’s character, Reese’s brother, seems like a likely potential hero. Who is going to make this seemingly happy go lucky man turn serious about love? That’s a good question I hope someday to see answered. I just have to wait for what will seem like forever for the next book. And, I found Penelope to be quite the dragon, even though well intentioned and doing what she was hired to do. I would love to see her as a main character someday. She’d be fun to fluster because in this book she seemed much too perfect at her job.

Another reason that I enjoyed the novel was because of Merina. I loved the way she was written regarding her openness and joy of life. She knew that she could get hurt along the way, but her nature would not allow her to shy away from grabbing every moment of bliss that she found in Reese’s arms. The way she melted for him was so romantic. And the tie thing she had going on? How the author used Merina’s fascination with Reese’s ties was incredibly sultry and sexy. Of all the imagery the author used, those scenes were some of the best.

Ms. Lemmon’s The Billionaire Bachelor is not only entertaining but well written. There’s a lot of emotion, heart, love and optimism written into its pages so when the happy ever after finally came about it was satisfying and left me feeling quite cheerful. When a book leaves me in an upbeat mood in the end, for sure I’ll be recommending it to other romance readers. After all, one can never get too much of the ‘happy’ in a happy ever after.

Color me floored when the hero is told to ‘make himself at home’ and he tidies up the heroine’s couch pillows and her shoes, not because he had OCD, but because he felt it was the right thing to do for someone he respected. I don’t know about you but I thought that was really sweet and yet the hero, Benjamin, is far from being sweet, or humorous or even emotional. His cold personality is why he’s called the ‘Beast’, and why he’s an excellent tormented hero. I enjoyed discovering his emotional layers.

Maggie is the perfect foil. She’s everything Benjamin is not. She’s down to earth, doesn’t put on airs, truly cares about people and her emotions are there for anyone to read. She defended Benjamin and took his side when no one had ever done so before. It left Benjamin reeling – is she for real? His finding out is what romance stories are all about. I enjoyed watching his reaction to her and how his feelings change over time.

The hero’s nemesis is completely unreasonable and vicious. Definitely the villain was 100% unlikable. It doesn’t matter to me what the ultimate reason was for such harsh treatment, the author created a despicable character that I loathed and I in no way can condone their actions.

I appreciated the sensual buildup of the physical side of their relationship until the point of ‘the knee’. It was quite hot but kind of amusing too, especially the dialogue that came later. I really liked how the author placed those love scenes, how they were written and what she chose to show me. It was very fun reading.

Beauty and the Boss has an emotional richness and a vibrant romance that’s sure to please. The main characters are engaging and fun to watch as they fall in love. I enjoyed Maggie’s family’s cameo appearance and the sweet and happy scene that stemmed from it. There’s so much to like and enjoy, I am happy recommending Beauty and the Boss to fellow romance readers. It’s a treat.

This is a quirky, fun and bizarre romance story and that means it’s quite entertaining. The delivery starts off with Cimil sort of setting up the scenario of the company, its goals and the players. Each person, like Zac, is over the top, loud and larger than life. There’s not a boring character in the bunch.

Andrus and Sadie are quite the couple. He’s a horndog and she’s a hardworking struggling girl who wants to make it in Hollywood. The two are thrown together in what has to be the most convoluted and peculiar matchmaking scheme ever.

Andrus is not shy with his body (he’s not afraid of a little exhibitionism) or his language. He’s rough, rude and as hot as fresh lava. Sadie has these internal dialogue monologues and quips that are quite amusing especially when she’s trying to not notice Andrus’s fine physical qualities even though she very clearly notices, a lot. And, Andrus notices her noticing. The primal dance between them is quite witty and sexy.

The funniest part was Sadie telling Andrus what she liked in the bedroom department, in detail, and the hero’s very choked response. I was greatly amused.

The conflict is a bit elaborate and manipulative. I could never figure out what the threat was, or if the deadline was as critical as depicted, or if Cimil was playing head games because let’s face it, she’s like a demented Energizer Bunny who majored in Machiavellianism. I had a love/hate opinion about Cimil – at times I was annoyed with her and the way her character was written, and other times, the conflict she imparted was genius. Readers have to decide for themselves which side of the fence Cimil falls on for them.

The biggest surprise was Sadie. I never even suspected the role she played in the novel. What was finally revealed made it even more apparent that Andrus was the most perfect choice for her as a mate. I strongly suspect other readers will agree.

All in all, the first book in The Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. series is a fun launching pad for romantic hijinks in the future. The characters are creative, unique and provide a fresh batch of zany romantic entanglements for readers to enjoy. The next book will be about Tommaso and from the sounds of it, his romantic journey is going to be as madcap as this one.

I’ve read this book three times and I can’t believe it’s only now I’m writing a review. Amanda Quick’s stories are my go-to books when I need something I know will take me away from the stress of everyday life. I Thee Wed has an element of re-readability that I enjoy.

Ms. Quick’s stories sometimes have a formulaic feel to them that I find comforting. This novel isn’t boring or predictable except for the fact that the heroine is usually intriguing and unique, the hero is fascinated by her mind and personality and there’s always a villain that is clever and hard to catch. Trying to outsmart a criminal is a tough business, but add in an element of possible paranormal influence and it becomes engaging. Is the paranormal real or fake, is the Book of Secrets quackery or the genuine stuff of legends? Does Emma truly have an otherworldly talent or is it coincidence? Who killed the creepy letch? Who focused the young criminal’s attention on Edison? Will Edison be forced to kill him? Why is the tattoo so important? And what really happened to Ms. Kent? So many exciting questions need to be answered and Ms. Quick insures that a reader’s interest is kept engaged chapter after chapter.

My favorite part of this novel is Emma’s ability to challenge Edison. Not only about how competent a female can be in investigating a crime, but her clear-eyed empathy about the situation between the hero and his grandmother makes him doubt all that he assumed. She inspires Edison to see things differently, to question and to grow as a person. His falling in love with her makes him a better man in the end so it makes the happy ever after that much more powerful.

The sensual, sexy scenes are softly told – the descriptions are not graphic or glaring, but a reader has an open door view and can enjoy the moments when Edison and Emma succumb to their passions.

I Thee Wed is a guaranteed entertaining read. I enjoy the dialogue, the action, the suspense, the solving of the murders and Emma and Edison’s unusual courtship. There is a reason that this book is, and has been, on my keeper shelf. Ms. Quick knows how to write a romance story that gives fans of the genre exactly what they look for. I’m a satisfied, happy reader – again.

How the book starts doesn’t give a reader a decent hint as the hilarity, romance and fascinating dialogue that ensues as a reader meets all the players on stage. Piety, Trevor, Miss Baker, Ms. Breedlowe, and the crusty but loveable Lady Frinfrock, are all delightful and I enjoyed every single moment visiting with them.

Piety is the unconventional American heiress who comes to England to escape the machinations of a mother who is a parent in name only. How wretched and callous that woman is can only be appreciated upon reading her dialogue and viewing her actions. The author convinced me that the heroine was wise to run. Add in her evil, icky step-brothers and it’s almost like a twisted Cinderella story.

Trevor is a grumpy bug. His early life was not a picnic and now he’s doing everything he can think of to live as opposite a life as he knows how. On one hand, he’s honest, sometime too honest and that causes one of the conflicts later. And when he becomes less than honest, with the best possible of intentions, well, that causes conflict too. He doesn’t follow his heart and it’s almost his downfall. I liked Trever. I cracked up when he tried to tell himself, not to ask, not to make it his problem, not to look, not to want – but he always does and the results have him falling in love and lust with Piety even more. It was fun to watch.

There’s plenty of internal conflict that both Piety and Trevor have to work through but it’s the external conflict from a man that’s like a Greek mafia boss which really brings the tension and worry to a fever pitch. He’s a great addition because not only does he provoke drama and suspense, he prods the hero to do the right thing, even if it’s one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do. An effective evil villain brings out the white knight in the best of heroes and Trevor passed with flying colors – and a few flying fists. And a knife – can’t forget the knife because the author used it effectively and deserves a mention.

Some readers might think that everyone fell in love with Piety too easily, and their acting so protective of her so quickly and thoroughly was a bit unrealistic. I found her likability delightful and it made this story more upbeat, positive, a pleasure to read. I like to think that the marchioness’s ability to size a person up was razor sharp and she astutely determined that the heroine was worth her trust and sponsorship. Certainly I enjoyed her wit when it came to dealing with Piety’s horrid parent.

The Earl Next Door is truly delightful. Ms. Michaels has penned a winner with characters who are engaging and charming and a story that completely entertains. I enjoyed myself immensely and will not hesitate to recommend this novel to anyone who asks.

If ever there was a challenging point of view to write, none could be as daunting as writing from the perspective of a blind heroine. I commend Ms. Hoyt for penning such a convincing novel. Not only did I respect Phoebe, but I believed in her senses, her independence and her capabilities. That’s all due to the wonderful descriptive way in which Ms. Hoyt shows what and how Phoebe ‘sees’ in the world around her. It’s wonderfully done.

Blindness notwithstanding, the most dangerous thing to happen to the heroine was someone’s tenacity in trying to kidnap her. Even though it wasn’t’ meant to be funny, after a while I was amused because it seems that every time Trevillion or Wakefield were distracted, or thought the coast was clear, they were proven wrong and one or the other had to scramble and rescue her. Talk about action, suspense and enough intrigue to keep the pages flipping!

I liked how the relationship grew and warmed between Phoebe and James a/k/a Trevillion. I enjoyed watching James take matters in his own hands and the result is exactly what one would expect, no matter how he tried to delude himself. He was a goner. Eventually, they both were openly besotted with the other – true romance.

My favorite surprise was the smoothing over of troubled waters and the removal of a longstanding threat. It was bittersweet but it left me with a feeling of hope. It certainly played well into the plot because it showcased a depth of emotion and honor in the hero.

I enjoyed the dialogue, the mystery that surrounded Miss Dinwoody and her role, and meeting James’s niece. I liked the romance, the dynamics between Phoebe and her brother, Maximus, and the other secondary characters that populated the novel. There’s so much to like, except for the person who has a unique scent. That one is a whacko genius who reminded me of another villain in a series that liked to ‘collect’ certain somethings. It certainly made for effective conflict motivation.

All in all, Dearest Rogue has everything I look for in an engaging historical romance. This novel is so well done, it’s a must read. I’ve followed the series but this is a solid standalone read and I highly recommend it to new and established fans.
