Evangeline (Evvie) was a character that sometimes I found endearing and other I found to be too much of a push over. She did not have the best of upbringings as a child; in fact, the girl couldn’t even read until she met her three knights in shining armor. This background made me immediately sympathize with her, and hope that she could find happiness in her life. While I can understand why this would lead to an infatuation, I really wished she would just stick up for herself, especially in the bedroom.  It seemed like she would willingly do anything they asked, and while it did pleasure her, at times I felt like she was submitting just to make them happy. This is something I struggled with as a reader, because while all of the men had no problem with putting demands onto Evvie, she never seemed to ask for anything for herself. In fact, the few things she did want she seemed to either manipulate the men into giving it to her, or just concede to the men in her life. In the end, I did see Evvie start to coming to herself a little more, and even put her foot down at times, I would have liked to see it a bit more earlier in the story.

Collectively Briggs, Gio and Chase truly entertained me. I think the author had a kinship to Briggs as he seemed to be center stage the first half of the story, and ever the voice of reason when one was needed. Chase, on the other hand, was pushy and demanding at times, but the other guys where always around to rein him in. Gio is the most laidback, down to earth of the three. While he can be determined, it was always done in such a friendly way you just couldn’t argue with him. The three of them really created the perfect man, and I could easily see why Evvie could not help but to fall in bed with them again, and again.

The erotica in this story is on steroids. It is a driving factor behind the relationship development, and plays center stage throughout the entire story. While I really appreciated this at first, after a while it got almost tedious. The men always found a new way to please Evvie, but sometimes I just wanted more story without the characters falling into bed one way or another. I can say, that I enjoyed seeing each man’s personality in the bedroom, as they all were very different, which was something I could truly appreciate.

I love the incorporation of Maisy in the story, and would love to have seen more of her. I think Maisy added a certain level of maturity to the story in all of the characters, and really helped solidity the bond between everyone. I also got to see a different side of Evvie when Maisy was around, which was refreshing because she really seemed to really shine during these scenes.

All in all it was an entertaining story. Anyone in the need for some hot male loving will not be disappointed in this story.

Lucy is the spunky sister to the resident tattoo artist we met several books ago.

Ms. Rainier was able to keep all of these characters fresh enough for the reader that when it was time for sexy Patrick and mouthy Beck to man up and accept their changing relationship with Lucy we were cheering and waiting anxiously for these characters happily ever after, which is one of Ms. Rainier’s specialties.

The Divine Creek Ranch series and it’s characters are so entwined and close knit that we still see our favorite characters from practically every book all the while any reader would be able to pick up any book in the series and not feel totally lost. Not many authors can not only juggle the amount of characters after 15 books but also include a cross over with another series/author and still pull it off as beautifully as she has done.

I can’t wait to read more from this author and if you are like feeling as if you’re meeting old friends every time you open a book, then I suggest you pick this up. You’ll feel right at home.

I thought it was because it added to the story in some way, the conversation etc, but it seems it is this authors style to pad out the pages with extra narration and detail. I wasn’t disappointed when it came to the detail in the sex scenes however. These were hot and intense and certainly hit the spot.

This is the story of how the small town of Bliss, as we know it today, started down the path of being one of the deadliest cities in America for homicides per capita. The irony of who took the first kill wasn’t lost on this reader. Nor was the town’s response to one of its own being in danger. Family isn’t a joke with these people; it’s a way of life.

Set five years in the past, my first thought with Once Upon a Time was that it was meant to be a prequel to the rest of the series and to a certain extent it is. Many of the characters I’ve come to know and love join the cast within these pages while other simply get a foreshadowing nod in passing. It was kind of like a wink from Ms. Oak to her loyal readers. And then because she seems to know what makes her fans smile, Ms. Oak gave me a chance to meet some very special people who had already passed on when the first book was written. I don’t mind telling you that brought on a few tears. Then in true Sophie Oak fashion she tied this book in with both the Siren series and the Faery stories. Truly inspired!

As I said “prequel” came to mind at first but in all actuality it’s the set up for next several books. I can’t say how because that would be a total spoiler. I will say the epilogue gave me a thrill similar to what movie watchers get when they wait until all the credits have rolled and then their patience pays off by getting a sneak peak at the next movie. But don’t jump ahead just for the ending, Henry and Nell have quite a story to tell and it isn’t to be missed. Bliss is a one of a kind town with one of a kind people you’ll want to visit with again and again.

When I read the blurb for this story I will admit that I laughed pretty hard. I went into this story expecting a funny tale, and it had its moments where at the beginning I found myself laughing, especially when we meet Harold Jacobs and his problem appendage in the shower. Then I stopped and realized just how embarrassing Harold’s situation could be to a guy in communal showers especially when he was in high school. I loved Harold for his internal monologue full of so much wit and humor that you have no choice but to love him. Then enters Owen who knows he likes guys but isn’t ready for everyone else to know. I was prepared to not like Owen because of this, since I’m not always sure how to feel about stories with seemingly straight guys who turn gay. Ms. Harris pulls this off beautifully, with characters so loving and human that you can’t help but be drawn to them. I was rooting for them the whole time. I loved that Owen was at first attracted to Harold on a purely physical and lustful level only to find that Harold was an interesting and fun guy to be around.

This is the eighth book in Ms. Harris’s Men of Holsum College series and I haven’t read any of the others but if this is any indication of how the others are written, I will definitely be picking them up. She presents a college scene that is very true to my own experiences and that makes the stories just that much more enjoyable. The men are hot and witty and I would love to have been friends with them.

Pick this up if you want an enjoyable story where the men are hot and they fall in love with enough humor to not take themselves too seriously. It’s a truly beautiful love story at the core of it all, and when you toss in hot men you can’t go wrong.

It took me a moment to catch up in places – some of the twists hit you from behind – but I thoroughly enjoyed the differences in what I originally felt would be another “adult hotel for your sexual gratification” style of book. With the plot twists and all three main characters being quite convoluted it all added up to a really interesting, fun book.

The sex is hot with mild tones of BDSM, though nothing too hard core to turn off less intrepid readers. I enjoyed how the erotic scenes added depth to the growing relationships between the characters. There was a wonderful balance between the conflicts of the plot and the steamy sex scenes – neither one overshadowed the other. The suspense part of the story had its ups and downs. I didn’t care for the original excuse of who the bad guy was and why, and really hoped that they were wrong. I didn’t like how they arrived at that conclusion given the lack of evidence. And the whole escape was way too easy. But it all fell into place at the end. And lets face it, while the suspense was good, the sex was so much better.

All in all, it was a very entertaining story and the sex was hot, hot, hot. So worth the read!

Seth is drawn to the sexy librarian who is exactly his type. She’s smart, funny and curvy for days. But more so, she pulls out his protective instinct. With this 12th, yes 12th, installment in the Divine Creek Series by Heather Rainier, this is by far my favorite. I loved everything. I loved Jayne’s inner monologues and her humor. When she interrupts her parents on the “phone” I was laughing out loud. I loved her courage and her determination first during her sickness, but the end of the book really brought that home for readers.

Seth, oh momma. Seth is my new favorite male character ever. He was sexy, sweet, brave, and loving and every other fantastic adjective you can think of. His heart of gold was worn on his very sexy tattooed arm, and even though he felt weighed down by guilt for something that he couldn’t control he never let it control him. Seth is everyone woman’s romantic dream. My favorite part of him was when he let down his guard and let his true inner Alpha male out. And let me tell you, rawr!

In addition to the couple, the secondary characters were fun, and brought a lot to the page for what little time was spent on them. But the love that was shared between the couple, and their friends and family was wonderful. Ms. Rainier definitely has her niche with love being the star attraction to all her novels. She introduced a lot of new characters, and set up a few things to continue this series, and I along with many others are anxiously awaiting for what happens next in a little town of Divine.

The clues begin to add up and so does the sexual tension between detective Megan Pontius and Drake Allen, aquarist. Megan is hungry for a trip to the dark side and Drake is ready to give in to temptation. The only problem is him being the leading suspect in Paul’s murder.

The no holds barred sex scenes in this book are delicious. This book is a hot read with snappy character interaction, a plot that moves, dialogue that is real and action that fits what is happening in the story.
