Shelli Stevens takes it up a notch for the fourth and final book in her outstanding McLaughlins Series. I loved this one!
A spark becomes a flame in this fast paced story. Aleck and Delonna both had reasons for fighting their attraction to each other for so long. They have deep scars. Aleck has loved and lost in the past. He wants to avoid the inevitable pain of losing another love so he only goes for meaningless hookups. Delonna is a hard worker who has learned the value of frugality. Understandably, she is afraid that indulging in a romantic fling with her boss might lead to losing her security blanket. Then her scum bag boyfriend takes her for a ride and Aleck steps up to keep her safe. Together they will find out if a real relationship is worth the risk of losing it all.
This book had everything to pull me into the story. It was fast paced and ran the gamut of emotions. It pulled me in and turned everything topsy turvy. Needless to say, I found Aleck to be a great alpha male, it was so easy to love him. The Scottish accent alone had me crazy in love with him, but also how protective he was of Delonna. He made me plenty mad a few times though. I also cried a few tears since Stevens put a great story behind the pain that he kept dishing out to Delonna. Now there was a lot to love about Delonna. This girl was fearless ! She’s in a dangerous situation, and still she puts it all out there and takes a chance on love. Aw, my heart was breaking for her at one point.
This book was very well written. All in all, it was a satisfying ending to a great series that I have enjoyed tremendously from beginning to end. I would recommend this book, and the series, to anyone looking for a good read.
