Christmas can be murder on a relationship that s on the rocks.

“The Phoenix Institute, Book 3.5”

As Christmas approaches in crumbling Charlton City, Detective Aloysius James and his partner, Noir, are at a crossroads. Figuring out how to reconcile their careers with their relationship is harder than catching the bad guys.

Now that Noir has learned to control her invisibility and is making a name for herself among the city s artist collective, Al senses there s something she s keeping from him. And he doesn t know how long they can remain partners. Or even lovers.
The message seems to say, if prescribed by your cialis soft 20mg doctor, Sildenafil Citrate side effects might be strong or mild. Consuming food items rich in selenium is the safest remedial measure for this trouble. levitra samples icks.org High blood generic levitra online sugar levels during the early weeks of pregnancy can raise the risk of birth defects, miscarriage, and diabetes complications. At the end of the eight-year study, over 85 cialis samples icks.org percent of the women were still enjoying sex regularly.
Noir isn t sure how Al would take it if he knew how deeply he has touched her artistic soul, or how he could react if he saw the secret drawings that have helped heal the wounds of her past.

When a murder lands them on opposite sides Al ready to arrest a suspect Noir insists in innocent they re going to need to unwrap all the ghosts of their pasts to make this Christmas the first of many. Or it could be their last.

When a person is two parts of the same whole, how do you find resolution?

Lucy was a victim of a kidnapping and made to endure experiments at her captor’s hands. She becomes Noir, a girl who can become invisible. She is save by Al, otherwise known as Detective Fixit. The two have a stormy romance but one thing is for sure: they do love each other. There is a particularly spicy sex scene that was positively delightful and I wanted much, much more.

Noir/Lucy is trying to define herself in the real world. She lives with Al, but he too is struggling with how to treat this girl who originally came from the burbs. Is she just on a pit stop or is she involved for keeps? When a murder takes place in the holiday exhibit at the museum Noir is involved with for her art, the two have to work together to solve the mystery. Are Noir’s friends involved or is it an elaborate frame? Insert Noir’s special talent for invisibility, some akward social situations and a whole lot of snark and you have a story that kicks butt.

Vulnerabililty was a theme during the book and it really resonated with me. Noir/Lucy is two people, but why can’t she just be both? Al has to struggle with his fears of relationships and decide whether or not to trust her with his life and his case. Great tension and a wonderful plot development.

The romance between Noir and Al began before the book started but I had no trouble picking up what was happening. The love is there, but so is the mounting tension. Personal barriers, police vs. transient population, politics and greed all play a part in this great novel.

I will be going back for more books from this author and she is on my must read list for urban fantasy.

Who’s to say who is blind…and who sees clearly?

The Brothers Mortmain, Book 2

As Hannah approaches the imposing gates of Youlden Manor, she keeps reminding herself of why she is about to give her body to the master of the house. Two years ago, Lord Sebastian Youlden wronged her and their unborn child, and she cannot resume her life until she wreaks revenge.

When Sebastian awoke weeks after a duel that stole his sight, he discovered he’d lost something else—the woman he loved. Grief-stricken, he retreated to his isolated estate, where he occasionally sends for women from the local inn to temporarily assuage his loneliness. Yet there is something strangely compelling about the latest lady of the night who comes to pleasure him.

With constant demands of cialis online from canada , some medicine manufacturer companies have come to produce the medicine and have made them able getting hard in the bed. Erectile dysfunction, wholesale viagra online also known as ED, or impotence is referred to as erectile dysfunction. The erection sildenafil 50mg price time for both which is achieved normally or which is achieved after taking Kamagra tablets is a safe and effective treatment option for erectile dysfunction. Don’t worry its nothing to do with health risks or cialis sale uk greyandgrey.com something like that. The first time they come together, Hannah’s icy resolve begins to melt in the heat of his bed. As passion begins to burn away the veil of secrecy between them—and gradually lift the blindness from Sebastian’s eyes—the only thing left standing between them and a love that never died is the naked, painful truth.

In nineteenth century England, Hannah masquerades herself as a lowly whore to get revenge on the man who betrayed her. But that man, Sebastian, is broken and blind, living in a gloomy manor in the moors. What purpose does revenge serve against a man already beaten down?

The author, Evie North, has done a fine job in describing an historical setting far out on the moors of Yorkshire. The background serves the story, giving us subtle details of the era, the country, and even the weather, without suffocating the plot or overwhelming the characters.

Hannah is a wonderful character. She’s smart, strong, and driven. Plus, she embraces her feelings, in good and bad. On the one hand she seeks vengeance over the wrongs done to her, but on the other she feels a strong bond to the fallen hero, Sebastian. At one time they were intimately close and spoke vows of forever. Then tragedy struck, and both were cast into the wind, to try and find a place in a cold, cruel world, but are unable to shake the ghosts of the past.

We get varying points of view, one chapter at a time. Sometimes the points of view mix unexpectedly, which distracted me at times. Nonetheless, the narrative was alluring, and I turned pages onward to learn more. Sebastian’s cold, reserved nature serves as an intriguing counter balance to Hannah’s fiery fury. In fact, they seem well suited for one another.

The content of the story is more than laced with erotic interludes. The plot is filled with sensual scenes, as befits a man wanting to bed a ghost from the past and a woman pretending to be a whore. As the past events slowly unravel, we learn how things became the way they are today. That slow progression was done well, one piece at a time in the puzzle.

The writing is extremely sensuous, and I found every scene to serve a purpose. This wasn’t sex for the sake of sex alone. Each moment moved the plot forward, as the past became the present. I find North’s writing quite able and descriptive in the right places.

Without revealing the ending as a spoiler, I will nonetheless say that the overly rosy and sugary ending spoiled some of the enjoyment of the story. The leap from utter misery to perfect happiness just didn’t ring true. A woman’s worth seemed lessened by the physical change, and you’ll understand that reference once you read the last few plot twists.

Overall, this is a definitely worthwhile read. If you enjoy tortured heroes and the women who heal them with tempests and fury, you’ll love this. For the sensual scenes alone, this piece of historical erotica will titillate you from beginning to end.

Okay, so he’s freaking hot, but she’s been ignoring her hormones since her fiancé left her to go be a doctor in Somalia and then went missing.

After a shattered knee ended his promising soccer career, it seemed only natural for Josh Blackthorne to follow in his father’s rock-god footsteps. Now he’s a megastar, lusted after by women—and men—the world over. But he’s been in lust with Caitlin since he saw her picture years ago.

When Caitlin realizes Josh is who he says he is, she’s the first to make it right. But no matter how badly his seduction makes her want to melt into his arms, there’s a ghost hanging over their heads. A ghost who turns out to be not so legally dead after all…

Blackthorne is Lexxie Couper’s final Heart of Fame book, and in it we have come full circle. In book one it was Nick Blackthorne, learning he was the father of a teenage son, Josh. In Blackthorne, Josh is the music star that has far eclipsed his father, and is ready to settle down to a quieter life.

It has been five years since Josh Blackthorne became the singer for Synergy, his father’s former band. Five years of success, surpassing his every expectation. But life isn’t all fun and happiness; Josh has picked up a stalker, and that man has been released from custody. Josh decides to escape to his roots back in Australia, and stay under the radar, laying low. When he and his long time pal Rhys decide on a night out, Josh decides to try out the hottest club in town, run by bodyguard Live Reynolds’ niece, Caitlin. Caitlin has worked hard to make her club the in spot, and she isn’t about to let to celebrity pretenders try to put one over on her. After all, with no entourage, these two can’t possibly be Josh Blackthorne and Rhys McDowell, two of Australia’s most celebrated public faces. Caitlin shouldn’t feel the way she does once she spends time with Josh; after all she was engaged before her doctor fiancé shipped out to Somalia and went missing. As Caitlin and Josh spend time together, she falls for him, and Josh feels the same for her, although all their time together is purely platonic, as Caitlin hides behind her ‘engagement’ to keep Josh at arm’s length. Just when life has shown them that love is there, Caitlin’s ‘fiancé’ returns, leaving Caitlin confused and Josh shattered. Can the two star crossed lovers find their way back to each other? Can Caitlin find a way to let Matt down easy and follow her heart?

I love this world that Ms Couper has built, and the characters that inhabit it. These are people who feel like old friends, and it is fun to see characters from earlier stories and how they have fared in life.

Caitlin Reynolds is smart, determined and has made a success of the club she built on her own. She is attracted to Josh, but is also afraid to get involved after the pain and trouble of her last relationship. I like watching as she learned to love while spending platonic time with Josh, coming back to life and wanting it all. I like Caitlin’s sassy attitude and her strength of character, and the bit of snark she reserves for friends and family.

Josh Blackthorne is sexy and smart and talented. But he has never become the hedonistic rock star that his father was; his band mates and his family have kept him grounded and sensible. He has had a small crush on Caitlin since seeing a photo of her on her uncle’s shelf years before, so meeting her and feeling the attraction between them flare to life just makes it better for him. I like that Josh was willing to go slow, not rush Caitlin into something before she was ready. And I really enjoyed some to their antics as they learned about each other’s wants and needs.

There are some twists and roadblocks to Josh and Caitlin’s happy ever after, and as with the rest of the story, these twists were handled with grace and intelligence by all the characters involved. There is chemistry and passion throughout this one, and I highly recommend the entire Heart of Fame series, but Blackthorne can also be read as a standalone story. I hope that Ms Couper will revisit this world from time to time, with updates on favorite characters and their lives.

What are the things we covet the most? The things around us every day. Cecilia had it all. A marriage, a job she loved and a future. She is a doula, hired by families to assist in the birthing of their children, but with every child Cecilia helps into the world, the more she hates and resents what fate has handed her. Only it isn’t. Judy, Cecilia’s boss has a few secrets of her own. When things continue to spiral downhill, July offers to tell her how to get a baby of her very own, but to do it will cost her more than she might be willing to pay.

This book was a quick read and I was immediately sucked into Cecilia’s emotional vortex. As a woman, I feel the lack of a child very profoundly sometimes. To be Cecilia and help with all of these births, knowing you will never have the thing you want most in the world is a soul crushing thing and even the best people have been known to be twisted in the face of something like that.

When Judy tells Cecilia about her own veritable deal with the devil, so to speak, Cecilia rejects her and walks away. But it niggles-those doubts and longings in the night and soon she finds out just what Judy was talking about.

I am now a complete and utter fan girl of Shane McKenzie and can’t wait to read more of his work. He captures the emotional essence of a woman at the edge of her rope and left you right there in the room as you watched the events unfold. Bravo on a tale well mastered and a blood curdling tale of motherhood gone horribly wrong.

Read this one with the lights on.

London, 1888: Agatha drags herself from a shallow grave to roam the fog-shrouded streets of the dark city, trying to piece together what happened. Her new friends, the ladies of the night, live in terror of Jack the Ripper, while Agatha persistently searches for what she discovers she needs to stay alive—electrical charges.

As her memory grows stronger, the hazy images from her past come into focus, but questions remain. Do her answers lie in the shadows of the streets, the hidden corridors of London Hospital, or someplace far more frightening?

Agatha awakens buried in the earth. Her mouth filled with dirt and mud, she crawls from the filth to rejoin the living. Naked and covered in disfiguring scars, she is a horror to all who meet her. A blind gypsy takes her in and gives her clothes and she finds her voice and her way. She must return to the city and find who did this to her-who make her the way she is.

Her body oozing puss and a foul odor of the dead, Agatha knows she is different from other girls and when a prostitute rescues her from the streets of Whitechapel, she learns skills to keep herself alive. Can she find the men who made her into a monster that other women fear? Will she become a freak at a side show or exact her revenge?

This story had many elements of Frankenstein and Jack the Ripper that blended well together. The concept of a woman being brought back to life in the fashion of Mary Shelley’s epic tale and then discarded before the authorities could be alerted to the monstrous nature of the experiment were well suited to the time. Women were second class citizens and in this tale it takes an even darker turn.

While I enjoyed the overall idea of the story, some points in the execution left something to be desired. The repetition of words and awkward phrasing made a good portion of the book difficult to get through without wincing. I rooted for the girl who rose from the dead and wanted her murderers to get their due, but I strong bit of editing on this story would have gone a long, long way.

All in all, I enjoyed the mix of rotting zombie and Jack the Ripper. What a lovely idea that the two could remotely even be related. There is a definite spark of genius, but like all writers, an editing hand is worth much.

Read this one in the light and be careful who you meet just outside the gates of the local graveyard.

A twist of fate and a hail of sniper bullets puts them in the cross hairs of a killer, leaving Riley with just two slim options: trust her greatest betrayer, or face a murderer alone.

It hooked me from the start! This was a great read, a short but fairly well developed story that I really enjoyed.

This book had such a great opening, probably meant to pull the reader in and that is just what it did for me. Gage and Riley had an interesting backstory. It was young love until disaster struck and she turned away from him. Yet the feelings never went away for either of them. Gage comes running to her rescue the minute Riley is in danger.

The plot had an excellent setup with plenty of drama and a great mystery in this one. Conflict abounded here and the road to their happy ever after wasn’t easy. Someone had a vendetta and was trying to hurt both Riley and Gage. The story took a few turns and had a very twisted villain who took me by complete surprise. It was nice of the author to throw that extra edge in there.

I liked the writing style here because the story was so fast paced and eventful. I definitely liked the mystery and how the secrets kept playing out. I felt that the romance and the mystery were perfectly blended. I liked how easily Gage and Riley reconnected with each other, the second chance at love trope.

There was one thing that didn’t quite add up for me though. Where were the tears for the brother who took the bullet that was meant for Gage? It was barely mentioned despite being a catalyst that just happened. Just a few tears maybe. Still, I could overlook that because I wanted to. I was completely caught up in the romance of how love triumphed over all.

I liked it. It’s a great romantic mystery that I enjoyed a lot, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Roman Jaeger values his role as Alpha heir apparent, but he isn’t thrilled about his arranged marriage to the Alpha’s daughter—especially when his bride is just as nonplussed as he is—but he’ll do his duty for the pride. Seeing Patch again challenges his noblest intentions. The wildness in her sets him on fire, and he can’t resist the chance for one last fling.

Both know a future together is impossible. But when chemistry and sowing wild oats grows into a need deeper than lust, their bond could threaten the very heart of the pride they both love.

Roman Jaeger is a lion-shifter, and he’s the heir to the current alpha of the Lone Pine Pride. Though this pride welcomes all species of shifters, it’s the lions who rule and hold the positions of power. Roman will do whatever it takes to keep order and peace, even if it means he has to wed the current alpha’s daughter, Lila, someone he doesn’t love or desire. Patricia (“Patch”) Fontaine is a cougar shifter, who was orphaned as a child and taken in by the Lone Pine Pride. Lila accepted her as a sister, and the two have become best friends. Lila doesn’t know that Patch has wanted Roman for years.

It’s a dangerous time, and the Pride has required all of their members to gather together to be safe and to discuss strategy on how to deal with the humans who are hunting and killing them. Patch has preferred to stay away in order to avoid seeing Roman, but she has no choice now. The alpha has also decided that it’s time to officially announce the engagement of Lila and Roman, who will both do their duty, though neither loves the other. Circumstances throw Roman and Patch together, and it’s apparent that they have an explosive sexual chemistry. While they dance around their attraction, they finally give in. I had mixed feelings about both of these characters. Even when they got to the point of realizing that it was not just lust, but love, neither seemed too willing to fight for a chance to be together. They seemed resigned to accepting that it just couldn’t be. Roman felt that being alpha was the most important thing, and Patch was determined to give up the relationship when Lila and Roman finally married. Lila, surprisingly, turned out to be one of the strongest characters, and I ended up liking her very much.

Despite the bumpy route to the happy ever after, this was an intriguing and exciting story. I enjoyed the visit to this interesting world with its various characters and will definitely look for future installments.

Deep inside, however, Shelly knows she needs to change a lot more than just her physical appearance.

After a year licking his wounds over a broken romance, Christian is through. He’s been quietly lusting after Shelly at work, and he’s not wasting any more time. There’s something about her that makes him believe she’s the one. Unfortunately, Shelly’s kickboxing instructor, Lance—Christian’s best friend—has set his sights on the sweet blonde as well.

Instead of pistols at dawn, the two friends come up with a deliciously erotic answer to their shared dilemma—if the shy beauty will accept their racy proposal.

This is an absolutely amazing story. Before I elaborate further I would really like to say it one more time: Amazing story. Although it is relatively short it is perfectly written, without loose ends, everything here is in its place.

Never Been Kissed is story about Shelly MacIsaac and her relationship with two wonderful, but a bit different, men. One is, her colleague and IT expert, Christian and the other is her trainer, kickboxing instructor and Christian’s friend, Lance. The relationship between three of them started as interesting friendship only to turn into intimate sexual relationship. But what makes this story different from so many erotic romances that I read is that before they became intimate they fell in love. Their love is palpable, as well as erotic/ sexual tension between the three of them. And that is what makes this story so sensual and so beautiful.

Everything in Never Been Kissed is amazing. The characters are equally developed. Each one of them has its own character arch and each realized something by the end of the story, something that makes him/ her a better person. The relationship between three of them is also amazingly written, it goes step by step, there is no rush, and what is the most important, all the sex scenes are an integral part of this threesome relationship because through them the author is also showing the progress of this interesting relationship. Sex scenes are highly sensual, magnificently written and, oh, so hot.

I also like the positive message of this story; and that is love your body and enjoy sex with the partner(s) you love.

Reading Never Been Kissed was an amazing experience for me. I highly recommend this story.

Her quest across the city brings old friends and enemies out of the woodwork and reminds Secret once and for all why mercy and forgiveness are not always prudent. Lives will be lost, sacrifices will be made, and when the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same again.

With no time to mourn her losses, the only question remaining is if Secret can survive long enough to stop the apocalypse…or if this is the one challenge that will finally drown her in rivers of undead blood.

Everything was supposed to be better now. For Secret McQueen, life should have finally been good; she had one man she was committed to, her two most dangerous enemies were dead and she was ready to settle down with her sweetie and live a relatively normal life. But when they got back to New York, they found the city burning, and the dead were walking all over town. Now Secret has to face the greatest challenge of all, stop the people trying to destroy the city, save her friends and stay alive herself. Can Secret find new allies to battle against the threat facing the city? Will everyone survive this one? Will Secret finally have her happy ever after with the man she loves, or is fate still against her?

A Secret to Die For is the final offering in Sierra Dean’s intriguing series featuring wolf shifters, vampires and ordinary people working to keep humanity safe and live their lives. This is a complex and intriguing world, where anything can, and often does, happen, and people are real and likeable and feel like old friends. I have been with Secret from the beginning, and enjoyed watching her grow and mature into the adult she has become, and it has been quite the journey.

Secret has finally made her decision on the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with, and she is ready and willing to ‘settle down’ and follow her heart. She is also sad to know that she hurt a friend, and that it may take a while for him to be friends with her without romance. I like this adult Secret, and I was glad to see she was still ready and willing to take care of business to save ‘her’ city, using old allies and making a few new alliances along the way. There were some very tearful moments as two people close to her did not survive this last disaster, and I was surprised at who proved themselves in the final battle as well.

This one has the usual cast of characters: Desmond, Secret’s werewolf lover, Holden Chancery, her vampire lover and mentor, Secret’s two human friends Mercedes and Tyler, and Secret’s sister. All of them, along with Lucas and Keaty, make appearances here, and the battles to defeat the evil necromancers were all well fought and coordinated. There were some major characters lost in this one, and a final surprise that I did not expect, but I found this to be a totally satisfying finale to Secret McQueen’s story. I highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys some conflict with their happy ever after, but be warned…there are lots of tears in this one, so bring more than one box of tissues.

N.J. Walters nailed it with the third book in this series, Wolf on the Run. It was a fantastic story that really grabbed me by the heart and refused to let go. It had me flipping the pages and hanging on every word as I tried to guess what would happen next.

This is Cole’s book, and it brings danger from a new enemy this time around. It began with an intense opening scene that pulled me right into the story. My heart broke for Cherise when she found her mother had been killed. The author gutted my emotions right away, and apparently that’s all it took to get me hooked. I like to think it was fate that led Cherise to the Salvation Pack, a band of outcast wolves making their own Pack and family. Then Cole saved Cherise, and that made him my hero too.

The romance here was every bit as hot as it was sweet. Cole recognized Cherise as his mate and out came the possessive alpha traits. He was determined to hold onto her, even as she tried to protect him by running away. I liked that they were both very strong characters, and especially how Cole stepped up to take out the trash.

I hadn’t realized that this series could get any better, but I was so wrong. I feel that this is the best book so far because it actually highlighted what the series is about, which is choosing your own family, not because you’re related by blood or Pack, but because you want to make a better life together. A family that accepts each other flaws and all. That being said, it’s one sexy read, filled with passion, action and heartbreaking drama. It had a bloody showdown that had me breathless.

As usual, the writing was excellent. The entire story flowed at a fast pace. Most notable was the character development and how easy it was to feel the character’s emotions. As an example, I understood Cherise’s wonder at how the Pack interacted with each other, as well as her frustrations at the loss of her own wolf. She was fearful about it and the author was adept at conveying that to the reader. Character depth is one of the attributes that I expect in a good book. This one had that and more.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. Now, the next book in this series promises to be exciting as an old enemy begins to stir anew. Just something to think about while I not so patiently wait for the next great read in what has become one of my favorite paranormal series.
