Larissa and Roman are Fated Mates and it is wonderful to see them both working from strangers to lovers to Mates. Working together to strengthen each other and protect the ones they love. The main story does span all three books, though it does not feel like a cliffhanger by the end of book 1.

Roman is a Gargoyle shifter and the leader/captain of his group who protects humans against threats. Roman was instantly attracted towards Larissa. The book was descriptive and so was the sex. It is recommended for readers 18+ yrs. It has a couple of sex scenes with oral but not so much that it feels like it is the only thing you are reading. The story was a great read and I really liked it.

I picked up this book because I was in the mood for a mystery with animals as at least side players. This book didn’t disappoint. I loved how the characters are devoted to their cat and dog. Plus, the cat was named Endora. How can you not like that? The writing flowed well and while I had to put the book down a couple times (I had to sleep!), it was easy enough to pick back up and I wanted to know what would happen next. I did get emotionally involved with the characters. I had to know what would happen and whodunit.

The mystery was tougher to figure out than I had expected, but that’s good. I tend to read mysteries to be entertained, so I’m not looking for the clues throughout. Others might unravel this story easier and that’s okay. It’s a complicated story, but moves fast and worth the read.

If you want a mystery that’s fun, then this is the book for you.

I picked up this book because I thought the idea of a mystery from the perspective of the dog might be fun. In that respect, it was. The dog’s point of view is certainly different than that of the human and I liked how the author wove that into the story.

I have to say, though, that this isn’t an easy book to read. The dog goes through some heavy stuff. He’s abused (not by his owner) and injured (again, not by his owner), but it’s hard to read. I don’t want a mystery where the animal is abused. If you don’t, then this might not be the one for you. It’s certainly difficult in spots.

That said, the mystery was intriguing and kept me paying attention to the end.

If you’re interested in a mystery that’s a little different and off the beaten path, then give this one a try.

This story was so hot that I’m pretty sure we set a temperature record at our camping site! I’m not sure if I was sweating from the outside heat or from the romance between the hero, J.T and the heroine, Janet. The pop up camper A/C gave me little relief. I’m not complaining though, mind you, for nothing was going to get me to stop turning the pages.

This wasn’t my first Desiree Holt read, however, it is my first book in The Phoenix Agency series. Unexpected Risk is actually book seven. It’s my opinion that it can be read as a standalone but I want to go back and read the previous books in the series because I fell in love with the men who work at the Phoenix Agency. I also enjoyed how the heroines have a touch of psi. I’m not a huge fan of the psychic phenomenon element in romance stories but when I read the synopsis I felt confident that I’d love it. I wasn’t disappointed at all.

This is definitely a suspense/mystery/thriller romance. I can’t resist a man in uniform protecting the woman he as fallen in love with from suspenseful danger. The mystery plot around the Darkman was shocking, riveting and unpredictable. The story ends with a cliffhanger that left me wanting more.

The love story between J.T. and Janet was breathtaking and the hot weather outside had nothing to do with me losing my breath. J.T. makes my list of book boyfriends I’d like to meet. I’m fairly certain all the men in this series would make my list. While I wait for book eight I’ll go back and read the previous six.

Regardless, I recommend reading this book by a pool where one can jump in to cool off.

This is an excellent story for young adults and children alike, filled with lessons of finding one’s true purpose, living life to the fullest, and not being afraid of the things that make us different. It is in these qualities where our true power lies, and as an adult I am thankful to have been reminded of their importance in my life. Aerial had been having a series of strange, disturbing dreams and much as she wanted to she knew she couldn’t ignore them. Aerial had worked a few times with Frank when the policeman had been working certain cases, but this time Aerial and Frank might both be ready to finally take a chance on each other.

I really enjoyed this paranormal story. Aerial is not a young woman – her grown-up daughter gets married in the opening scenes of the book – and I loved how the story was completely outside the box of what might traditionally be classified as a romantic story. I was really pleased that Frank didn’t automatically ignore or down-play Aerial’s visions or instincts. I could totally understand how a character that needed to be as pragmatic and linear-thinking as a police officer could brush aside things like psychic dreams or seeing aura’s, but Frank was open minded and willing to listen. I felt this openness really helped progress the story and really highlight the ways in which Frank and Aerial were compatible.

Readers looking for a thriller-style of story should, I feel, find this totally suits their tastes. The snippets of Aerial’s dreams were equal parts creepy and enlightening to my mind. I felt they added a lot of tension and conflict to the story without being too over the top or unrealistic. I also really liked that about a quarter of the way through the story the author began to show us things from the perspective of the protagonist. I can appreciate how some mystery/thriller readers wouldn’t like having the “bad guy” unmasked so early on in the story, but personally I felt this really added depth and perspective to the entire plot. I often feel the “why” aspect of any storyline is equally important to the “who” part. By seeing the situation from the protagonists eyes it gave me a lot deeper understanding of what was occurring from his side of the story and I felt this really added complexity and depth to the whole book.

While there were a few coincidences that I feel might have been better smoothed over or explained in more depth, but overall I thought this story was complex, well paced and very well written. The romance between Aerial and Frank had a deliciously slow pace to it. I enjoyed that the two characters got to know each other first and then had a few chaste dates and kisses before moving things into more intimate areas. While the sex between Aerial and Frank was explicit I don’t feel it should be offensive or too over the top for most readers. Also, I felt strongly that the romance in the story was secondary – the focus far more strongly upon the paranormal themes and the mystery of Aerial’s dreams and the cold case of the missing girl.

With an interesting set of characters, a lot of ambiance and a wonderful, convoluted plot this was a great mystery that I really enjoyed reading. I’d definitely read more by this author.

Mary Sheeran has taken the genre of Historical Romance and created something timeless, while also extending a narrative that reaches far more than the tender places of the heart. A Dangerous Liberty is completely engaging, and it entirely encompasses its readers in thought. Pages filled with incredible longing for everything that is just beyond grasp, this novel keeps you running along Elisabeth in the Sierra’s, clinging to hope and the promise of changes yet to come.

Do not pass up the chance to experience this novel. It has all the elements of mystery, romance, intrigue, and historical significance that one could hope for, and it does not leave you wanting. An enamoring read from start to finish, A Dangerous Liberty is not a novel to be taken for granted, and it is certainly not one that will be forgotten.

This was a refreshing read. It’s classic Amanda Quick – a strong heroine, Gothic-like hero, a mystery to solve and hints of otherness to make a reader wonder if it’s coincidence or supernatural senses. This novel may feel comforting for fans of the author, because if a reader is looking forward to the elements that make reading an Amanda Quick suspense mystery fun and entertaining, they’re all there to enjoy.

This is the first historical novel I’ve read by the author that takes place in a time period other than Regency. It’s more like the early thirties because the Crash is mentioned; I guess that qualifies as early 20th Century. The Jones family is going strong and getting into just as much trouble as their ancestors used to. Again, the novel has that feeling of continuity because the Jones’s family talents still make it hard to find that perfect woman who can complete them, who won’t run away screaming or having a hissy fit because they don’t fit into a clear societal mold. The heroine, Amalie, is wonderfully perfect for the hero, Matthias, because she’s a bit different too. Not so much in the ‘other’ factor, but because of her career. I don’t believe I have ever read a story where the love interest is a trapeze artist. I was fascinated.

I was delightfully puzzled as to who the bad guy could be. There were layers of motive and possibilities to choose from and it’s safe to share that all my guesses were wrong. How fun!

I would have rated my review higher if there were any surprising, jaw-dropping, Oh-my-gosh Wow moments, but alas, I didn’t find any stunners. I’m still a happy reader because the book provided just what I needed; what I was looking forward to and hoped the author delivered. She did. I needed pure escapism and Ms. Quick took me on a grand adventure.

This novel is enjoyable, entertaining, and has the requisite happy ending with a delightful mystery solved in efficient fashion. I enjoyed the romance between Amalie and Matthias and its culmination. Tightrope is well worth reading.
