Daniel is in recovery and as part of his twelve steps he is told he must return to Texas and see Declan, make peace with the past. Daniel knew what he’d done was unforgivable, but being made to confront his mate, forced to see Declan again was more than Daniel thought he could bear. Can they find their way through and move forward from here?

I really enjoyed this short story. I found it quite a different view on the usual “we are mates” werewolf style of story. I was pleased how angry Declan was initially with the whole situation – and even more pleased that once he really understood everything Daniel had been through, and the protectiveness that drove him – that anger of Declan’s turned away from Daniel and toward the people it really should have been aimed at.

There was quite a bit of hurt/comfort in this story and I thought that was a lovely contrast to the rougher, more wolf-based aspects of this story. The M/M sex is steamy hot, but to some degree that love and sex takes a back seat to the plot. I felt that really gave me the sense that the story was well rounded. It didn’t feel like a story about sex with a bit of plot thrown in – rather a story with a good, strong plot with a bit of sex thrown in. I really enjoyed that.

Danny’s character could have been a little better defined I thought. Because his thought processes and memories had been messed up a bit from his “treatment” and reconditioning it initially made his character a bit difficult for me to get a handle on it. Declan’s viewpoint helped me get a bit of clarity on that and I adored the happy ending. Despite the short length of the story – and I would have loved it had the story been longer and gone into more details! – I felt this was really a well-rounded story and I greatly enjoyed it.

A well paced short story with interesting characters and definitely a hook for future installments. A lovely M/M with plenty of plot and heart. Recommended.

When his good friend Julius dies unexpectedly, Marcus finds himself saddled with a new submissive–Charlie. But Charlie comes with a history, and a whole host of issues and problems that Marcus has never really dealt with. Marcus knows he loves Charlie, and Charlie loves him, but he’ll have to set aside his old theories about BDSM and relearn the ropes, so to speak, if he wants to be the Dom Charlie needs him to be.

It’s been a month since Marcus’ good friend Julius has died. While Marcus still grieves for the loss of his friend, his life has become incredibly complicated. Julius left the care of his submissive, Charlie, to Marcus. Marcus loves Charlie, but his life is busy and complicated and he never wanted a live-in sub, particular as Marcus is quite set in his own ways and Charlie is delicate. Charlie had come a long way forward from where Julius had found him and Marcus didn’t want to mess any of that up. Can Marcus and Charlie make this work?

I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this story. In my opinion, the author did an amazing job with it. Charlie had been rescued by Julius from slavery and so Charlie’s past was incredibly checkered and I found Charlie to be a deeply interesting and complex character. I really liked how Marcus knew and understood so much about Charlie’s past – so the pace of the story could be kept at a good clip, without massive amounts of info-dumpling to explain everything to the reader. This history, however, understandably made Marcus reluctant, not certain of how to handle Charlie best while still loving him and wanting do to what was right. I found this gave the whole story a bit of a darker tone than I had originally expected. Charlie craves the pain, needs his limits seriously pushed and this is a very fine line to walk, between what is too much and how much Charlie needs in his submission.

While I personally really really enjoyed this story, there’s quite a few hot buttons that might not appeal to other readers. Charlie’s sex slave history – though it’s not gone into in detail and as much as possible is laid out in a positive manner, it’s present and very integral to Charlie and his needs. Also the level of pain and submission Charlie needs probably won’t appeal to lighter readers, or those new/unknowing to M/M BDSM style stories. All that said, I thought it was tastefully written and strongly emotional. I enjoyed how the author progressed Charlie and Marcus’ relationship without glorying anything from the negative past but also showing me as the reader why Marcus pushed Charlie. I felt the love and need from both characters and this helped me enjoy the slightly harder, darker sex the two men enjoyed together.

Not a short story that will appeal to everyone’s tastes, I however loved this and would strongly recommend it to those who like the envelope pushed just a little. While I didn’t think there was anything outrageous in the storyline, this isn’t a light, fluffy tale and I think sometimes that’s exactly what I want to read. A brilliant short story and an author I will certainly be checking out again.

Alex Farrell started his career at the very same law firm as Chance. Newly divorced, he’s looking for a fresh start. When Lacey introduces Chance and Alex, things heat up. Will their ending be bitter or sweet?

Chance quit his job as a lawyer and decided to become a pastry chef and work with his best friend in her catering company. Making delicious delicacies for weddings might not be the most glamorous thing ever, but Chance loves it. When he’s set up on a blind date with Alex, another lawyer, Chance initially isn’t too sure, but as he gets to know Alex this might just be the best thing that’s ever happened to him.

I found this to be a fun, light, super quick read. While I personally thought the start was a little bogged down with a massive amount of backstory being info-dumped, it does help explain Chance’s character and show the reader his attraction to Alex. In such an incredibly short story though, I couldn’t help but feel like there just wasn’t really time to do justice to both a proper setting up of a back-story, and some sizzling hot sex with the start of the relationship between the two men. While I think the author did a good job of balancing these two important factors in any story, I would have vastly preferred a much shorter “getting to know you” stage and a bit more sex and relationship working. Other readers might feel though that this is a far better balance than I did.

I really enjoyed the characters, I felt Chance and Alex were interesting people and just not cardboard cut outs. I also loved the secondary characters – Mikey and Lacey. There were parts of the story – particularly a huge amount of time that got jumped toward the end – where I would have loved just a little more time for the story to have been explored. I feel this really was something the author missed out on and filling the gaps was a little overlooked to my mind. But I loved the twist at the end and would have loved more description.

With fun, interesting characters and some lovely steamy M/M sex this is a great short story and a super fast read. I liked the author’s voice and will absolutely try more books by this author.

Everyone at Jim Irving’s garage is gung ho about Wrench Wars, a new reality show featuring mechanics. Everyone, that is, except talented mechanic Chandler Scott, the sole employee who has refused to sign the contract. The rest of the mechanics are pressuring him too, because without Chandler—and his volatile interactions with his boss—no one’s getting on the show.

Chandler’s one ally is Jim’s son, Mark, who’s being forced to work for his dad until he pays down his student loans or finds a better job—and who’s been Chandler’s secret lover for a while.

Now Chandler is backed into a corner, and Mark needs to decide how far he’s willing to go to protect the man who’s been sharing his bed… and may have stolen his heart.

Chandler is trying to make a difficult decision – whether to sign on to the reality show Wrench Wars or not. Everyone else at the garage he works at has signed, but he has reservations. But the network is playing hardball, if Chandler doesn’t sign on, then the whole garage will be passed over and all the other workers dumped from their contracts and Mark – the boss’ son – will lose out hardest of all. Only Mark and Chandler have no idea just how low the networks are prepared to punch when it comes to their ratings.

I’ve read a few others of these Wrench War stories and I have to admit I’ve been really enjoying them. While you can read each of them as a stand alone, getting a better understanding of the big-picture and some of the characters that intersect has certainly helped me enjoy these stories even more. I really enjoyed both Chandler and Mark’s characters. I liked that they were already lovers – though deeply in the closet – when the book started as this helped me feel like their relationship was already somewhat defined.

The drama and plot is definitely centred around Chandler and Mark interacting with their co-workers and the networks/producers of the reality show. I thoroughly enjoyed hating on the producer – Adam – and am fairly sure that was the whole point of his character. Adam does a few fairly reprehensible things and while nasty, it was admittedly refreshing to have such a hideous —and utterly believable and realistic — villain in a romance story.

I also found that a lot of the tension between the garage mechanics also added a fair bit of conflict and I felt this really had the plot side of the story feeling like it was definitely well fleshed out. This isn’t a bunch of sex scenes loosely held together, but a strongly plotted story that happens to have some delicious M/M sex and romance in it. I really enjoyed this for that very reason. I also was thrilled with the happy ending – I found it to be the perfect completion of to an awesome story.

A good addition to the series and a wonderful M/M sexy romance that I’d happily recommend this to others.

To architecture student Ian Carney, family means everything. Taken in by his brother, Jim, when his father threw him out at eighteen for being gay, Ian yearns to create his own family with his boyfriend, Rico. But Rico’s in Mexico caring for a sick father, Ian hasn’t had sex in a month and a half, and his gorgeous boss, Braden Lord, CEO of the architectural firm Ian interns for, is looking better and better.

Braden’s life is chaos. Just out of the closet and going through an ugly divorce from his wife of fifteen years who’s trying to take custody of his two children, he desperately resolves not to succumb to a completely inappropriate attraction to Ian—even though his kids adore both the man and his crazy cat.

Can Ian give up his romantic dreams for an “old guy” who didn’t come out until he carried a mountain of baggage? It’ll only take a thousand steps.

Ian and Braden are from different walks of life but also have a decade between them. Their attraction is instant and Ian, in a short amount of time, becomes a very important part of Braden’s children’s life. They have a lot going for them but so much is stacked against them. One step forward, two steps back. It will take love and one crazy cat to get these two where they need to be, with each other.

Braden has been hiding a part of himself from himself and everyone else. The result was a very bitter wife, who is about to be an ex-wife.

A lifetime of hiding has given Braden a lot of things both good and bad. The one truly good thing to come from his marriage, the thing that made it all worth it, is his children. They are his reason to stop hiding who he is and they become the reason he gets so close to Ian.

Ian is young, talented and very much in love with his boyfriend, who has to move to his home country to take care of his ailing father. However, when he stops hearing from Rico, he worries. What he finds out isn’t at all what he expected but when a door closes, he looks for an open window. That window leads straight, no pun intended, to Braden.

I loved the connection between the children and Ian but the one thing struck me as missing is that the relationship between Ian and Braden needed to be shown a bit more. More showing, less telling. I wanted to feel like I was more of a part of their story as opposed to simply observing it from a distance.

Braden has insecurities from decades of hiding and Ian helps boosts his confidence. The sex and attraction between both of them was evident and nicely portrayed. I wanted to see how their relationship changed from boss/employee to friends to partners.

This is a series and since I have not yet read the previous books in this series, I can only concluded that each book can be read as a standalone erotic romance. Braden and Ian’s book has wonderful and fulfilling ending with promises of forever. A thousand steps begins by taking the first. This is one of those books where the characters know what they want, they see it but it takes finding the courage to take that first step to reach their goal. Braden needed Ian to get him to where he could embrace the chance for love and a real life. Well worth the read.

This is an interesting and highly erotic short story. I was a little puzzled by the flow of this short story. Ryan and Scott meet in the first few pages, but then the author whizzes through their dating at a dizzying speed and then spends the rest of the short story proceeding to jump back in time with flashbacks, then back to the “present” – which is actually a number of months after the opening scene. While exceedingly different, I managed to follow along decently enough. I just was puzzled and question why the author didn’t just simply tell the story of Ryan and Scott beginning and moving on in their relationship. The flashbacks are brief and certainly add to the story, but the time-hopping did jar me a number of times for the pacing and flow of the overall story.

I did enjoy both Ryan and Scott’s characters. I feel they worked together remarkably well and I enjoyed reading about their sexual escapades. I liked how neither man was purely a top or bottom – they share the power in the relationship fairly equally and this vibe helped me greatly enjoy their sex and interactions.

This story is certainly short enough that I could read it in one sitting and found it a spicy, sexy romp that was a lovely break from real life. Readers looking for a different style of story should certainly give this one a try.

The network is counting on Reggie refusing to sign. But they’re not counting on their messenger falling for the man they’re trying to fire.

Wes hated being in front of a camera, so he did production instead. He’d only met Reggie, the owner of the garage they used to film Wrench Wars, a few times, but Wes couldn’t help the attraction he felt to the tough, tattooed mechanic. Reggie often finds himself hating the reality show, but his shop needs the gig, and so do his guys. When the network wants to set him up on a reality dating show – a heterosexual one – Reggie had never felt quite to hemmed in by the contract. Can Reggie and Wes manage to negotiate this new problem together somehow?

I found this to be a fun, interesting read. Similar to another Wrench Wars story I’ve read, there is plenty of mechanical, car and gear-head action and description, but not enough to lose me, as a certified non-car-person. And the characters are impressive and really interesting. I found myself immediately drawn into both Reggie and Wes’ different viewpoints. Their problems were interesting to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the voice of the author through the characters. The pace was quick enough that I was eager to discover what happened next and I really found myself enjoying this short story, caught up in it enough that I didn’t want to put it down.

I enjoyed the fact that Wes and Reggie didn’t immediately act on their attraction; indeed the two men weren’t even sure the other was gay for quite some time of the story. I felt this actually helped add to the chemistry and tension between the two men and helped the story along as well.

While there was plenty of plot going on, I felt the author had a good balance between chemistry and plot. Then later when Reggie and Wes finally managed to hook up, the sex was hot and explicit, but not over the top. I found it sensual and really wonderful to read. I personally was a little disappointed that it was a “Happy For Now” style of ending. Reggie and Wes are in a good place, and there’s definitely future potential and a positive vibe in their story’s ending, but it’s not as solid or close to “Happy Ever After” as I’m used to and a small, niggling part of me just felt like their ending didn’t quite close/conclude as strongly as I could have hoped for. Of course, the optimist in me wonders if this is just an opportunity for a sequel, which I would happy devour – were it so.

I found this to be a really good story with wonderful characters I got very attached to and greatly enjoyed. The sex is smoking hot and the plot is interesting and very well written. A great story.

Long-time couple Victor and Derek like to keep things fresh and exciting in their partnership. Their open relationship hasn’t ever been an issue between them until Antonio. Now Victor is looking at things in a different light and questions arise. Will Antonio be the death of Victor and Derek’s relationship or will the couple evolve yet again into something more?

Of the two, Victor Mascari was the one I related to best. He’s a psychologist and more reserved than his younger partner, Derek. He’s content to be in a committed, monogamous relationship although he allows Derek his fun, too. The choices Victor makes and the heartaches he goes through were real for me. I’m not sure I’d be able to man up in the way that he did at times.

Derek Jameson, on the other hand, is outgoing, adventurous, and always on the lookout for his next conquest. Although he often shared these temporary partners with Victor, he didn’t always include him, either. That bit bothered me somewhat, partially because Victor is at a fundraiser when it happens at the beginning of the book. It rubbed me the wrong way that Derek was home while Victor was at something that was important to him.

Antonio is an enigma. Although Derek brought him home, he knows nothing about him, and Antonio’s not offering any information up. I really liked Antonio from the beginning, even if his backstory and current situation was a bit far-fetched. I can get past things like that, however, if the character is relatable to me.

One thing that really bothered me about this story was that Derek, the one that had not just suggested, but insisted, on an open relationship, suddenly becomes jealous over Victor’s attraction to Antonio. This seemed out of character to me for many reasons, but mostly because he’d been putting Victor into the same situation repeatedly and Victor never said a word about it.

All in all, Expanded Hearts is an enjoyable, steaming hot ménage. Well-written and engaging, I enjoyed seeing Victor and Derek not only work through their issues, but also help Antonio through his problems as well. I’d love to see where the three of them are now and how far they’ve come since we left off.

But after that first meeting, neither Dane nor Jackson can get their minds off the other, even if that means they both fall into even more danger…

I enjoyed this story. I found it to be equal parts spicy romance, hot paranormal and laugh aloud funny. To be fair I’m not certain the author’s intent was to make parts of this funny, but I, personally, found humour in quite a few parts of the story – like where Dane’s pet cat decides that Jackson’s necklace is its new trophy or when Dane manages to wield the fireplace poker as a deadly weapon. These moments gave the story a lighter feel to me, and I enjoyed the fact the book didn’t take itself too seriously.

There were a few parts of the plot I really wish had been gone into more depth. The Assassin group – a network of people who felt all shifters should be obliterated and only “full” humans should exist – seemed like an excellent plot for this series, and Joel was singled out as a massive threat, but the author didn’t go into a lot of detail around this. I felt a little like because this story the first book in the series we’re only given a small taste of this plot and the rest has been purposely left hanging for future stories. The way this was handled made me feel a little short-changed. I ended feeling as if the story should have either focused purely on Jackson and Dane’s relationship – which I personally would have been fine with – or it should have spent more time devoted to details and description about the Assassins and Joel in particular. At the start of the story Joel is made out to be the big-bad hitman, yet at the end I feel that Joel is shown to be completely oblivious and (I personally feel like he’s shown to be) incompetent. I didn’t particularly like this ending and felt it quite an injustice to Joel’s having any sort of skill or professionalism. I felt this was a huge shame, because the plot around Joel and the Assassin group greatly intrigued me and I would have loved to see both more detail and a better working of this part of the story.

The relationship between Jackson and Dane was the real hero of this story and to my mind was completely its saving grace. I loved watching them come together and the sex between the two men was smoking hot. I loved the M/M pacing and intimacy. These two men were both excellent characters and Jackson’s brothers and Dane’s bff Sam all show great potential for future stories.

A good M/M and what might be a decent start to a new shifter series.

Lila Rose delivered a very touching and profound love story in this book. It was romantic, sweet, sexy and incredibly emotional.

We met Mattie and Julian in the first book, Holding Out, and I just wanted so badly to read their story. Lila Rose has an incredible talent for bring her characters to life and making you want more. They are funny and sweet and sexy and complex. I loved Mattie and Julian from the first moment I met them and couldn’t wait to dive into their story.

These amazing characters drew me in from the first page. Mattie was living a lie because he was so afraid to come out as openly gay. It took Julian and his charming personality to bring him out but it was still an angsty process. Despite his quiet personality I still had no problem in connecting with Mattie. I saw him as a silent alpha because once the story got going I could see that he kind of had a dominant side too. He was as different from Julian as night and day. Julian had a loud personality. He was open about being gay even though it brought him pain from his family and others. Julian beamed warmth and sweetness and charm but he had a sadness that was always there too. These two were a perfect balance for each other and somehow Lila Rose brought it out in every scene.

As always, Lila Rose was at the top of her game when she wrote this book. It is beautifully written and incredibly developed. This emotional sexy story is fast paced and the characters were simply amazing. I recommend this book/series to everyone.
