Just hours before Brandon Harris is supposed to head home to Cincinnati for a Labor Day family picnic, his boss at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame forces him into giving a private tour to bratty British pop-rock star Lucas Black. Before he knows it, he finds himself swept up in a whirlwind road trip through Ohio with Lucas riding shotgun.

Lucas grabs hold of this wild opportunity to run away—even for a few precious days—from the gilded cage that is his carefully managed life. He’s just looking for a little fun and freedom as a normal person. From roller coasters to a college football game, Brandon begins to see the real Lucas Black buried under the famous persona. But by the time he and Lucas discover their mutual attraction, they only have one night left before both of them have to go back to their real lives. The fun is over…unless Lucas can run away for real this time and keep their adventure going.

He just wants a weekend on his own…while he travels through Ohio?

I’ve lived in Ohio all my life and while I know it’s exciting, I never thought about the state through the eyes of someone who’s never been here. It’s actually more interesting than I’d ever thought.

CJ Anthony does a great job at writing a road trip through Ohio. I felt like I was right there with Lucas and Brandon through the trip. I also liked how the author allowed Lucas to grow. This isn’t a long story, but both Brandon and Lucas certainly change. I felt a connection to Brandon and rooted for him to finally get what he wanted. The plot raced along well, with emotions as the driving force. The sex scenes came along after a slow burn and were a great payoff. The story is short, but it’s worth the read.

If you’re looking for a book that’s equal parts Ohio’s greatest hits and sexy rock star with nerdy-ish business guy, then this might be the book for you.

Clive and Aniston must escape before Krampus can feed them to the cannibal gingerbread men!

Aniston awakens to find an intruder in his house kneeling in front of his Christmas tree. Expecting a white beard and a jolly laugh, Aniston is shocked to find this is not Santa. Aniston is kidnapped and whisked away into a world of giants where Krampus is the master of the house.

Clive rescues Aniston and together they survive among cannibal gingerbread men, oversized nutcrackers, and tin soldiers roaming the house and guarding over Krampus’ sack. Aniston can’t help but be drawn to Clive and finds comfort in his arms. They only know of one way to get home. They must escape or spend Christmas a long way from home.

He’ll need all of his wits to survive this crisis…but there’s a silver tinsel lining.

I’ve never read the work of Crymsyn Hart and if these two characters are any indication of the caliber of her other stories, I’m in. Aniston and Clive are interesting characters. I’ve never read anything involving Krampus either, so this was a good twist for me. I love the theme running through this book that you can’t just give up. Keep going because things will work out. It was great. The story flowed well and while it was short, I didn’t stop until I got to the end. I had to know how things would work out.

Now this is short. I knew that going in, but I wished there were a little more about Aniston and Clive. Why? Because I liked them. I wanted more of their story. This isn’t a bad thing. It’s good. If they happen to show up again in a post Christmas story, that’d be awesome.

If you want a book that’s sprinkled with danger, action and some serious heat, then this is the book for you.

Justin Walker is used to being the hookup but never the boyfriend, and that’s okay. Justin has goals—he might sling burgers by night and work on his car by day, but he has plans to go to school and make a life for himself. He also has a few friends and loving parents.

What more could a guy ask for?

Hot, muscular, manly Shane Steel is a walking wet dream. Justin fantasizes about having Shane as more than a casual acquaintance, and one night he works up the courage to flirt with Shane. To his surprise—and terror—Shane is interested. Very interested.

As they bond over their love of cars and drag racing, Justin begins to believe he can be more to Shane than a side guy. Too bad Shane’s manipulative and dangerous ex is dead set against letting that happen.

Justin and Shane have been casual friends for a while, but it’s only as they slowly get to know each other they realize just how much they have in common – especially when it comes to cars. Justin is wary, he’s screwed up too many friendships by falling in lust and scaring his friends away, but Shane doesn’t seem concerned. Indeed, when Shane offers the use of his garage to help teach Justin more about cars, the two men get even closer, and soon Justin is willing to push the boundaries of their friendship even further.

This is an interesting and multi-layered story. While initially the relationship between Justin and Shane is straight-forward, there come to be a few complications that I felt really deepen the complexity of the plot. Some readers mightn’t enjoy the nefarious lengths Shane’s high school friend Lukas stoop to (drugs and borderline non-consent) but I was pleased that while these lines were flirted with, nothing truly devastating actually occurs. This isn’t a light-hearted, fluffy or sweet style of erotic romance story though and so readers who are looking for something easy and cheery might not want to try this.

I really enjoyed though how the shared love of cars and mechanics kept up as a strong theme throughout the story. Often once the plot deepens and the personal relationships get complicated sometimes shared interests can fall by the wayside in these sorts of stories, but Justin’s car and the stereo system Shane and Justin put in along with their mechanics are a strong thread throughout the story and I really appreciated this. I also liked how Lukas was a deep (albeit nasty) character. He wasn’t just some cardboard cut-out – or the “token bad guy”, he was complicated and wonderfully hateful. These things really filled out the story and kept me interested in each and every page.

A blokey and wonderfully emotional story with a lovely happy ending, this M/M should tick plenty of boxes for readers who like their stories spicy and their plots convoluted.

When Aaron Jacobs’ twin makes a deal with the Devil, it can’t possibly end well. Then Aaron’s twin skips town, leaving Aaron to pay the debt himself. Aaron has no idea what to expect, but it sure as hell isn’t the cloven-hooved, horned wet dream who’s come to collect.

This demon isn’t backing down.

I love the Soul Debt books. Each one is a different take on the devil coming to collect his due. I also love the work of Mychael Black. There is always heat and a blistering pace for the story. This one was no different. The heat involved between Roan and Aaron is great. I felt the connection along with them. Yes, Aaron is paying the debt, but is it really such a hardship? This is a quick read with lots of sex. I wanted something hot for an unusually cold summer day and this fit the bill. I wish it would’ve been longer because I wanted to see what would happen next, but it wasn’t a deterrent to the current story.

If you’re looking for a short story that’s high on heat and deep on connection, then this might be the book for you.

Rip Cord, the infamous Bad Boy of the NFL, ends up on Gil Davis’ front porch drunk as a skunk. Not only has he been fired by his franchise, but also his sports agent. His last brawl on the football field during a prime time game was the final straw.

Accounting geek Gil Davis hasn’t seen his on-again, off-again lover since the summer when the professional football player whisked him away for a kinky sex-filled getaway weekend. But immediately after, Rip returned to the NFL and was on the road leaving no time for Gil.
Now Rip wants to come back into Gil’s life one more time, this time to not only make a future with him, but to finally admit who he really is deep down inside. After hiding his sexual preference since he was a teen, Rip realizes he’s made too many bad choices along the way. It’s time to make the right choice with Gil.

But is Gil ready to forgive Rip for keeping him at a distance? And more importantly, after two false starts, can they finally live happily ever after?

Never give up because you never know what could happen if you do.

I have to start out by saying I haven’t read the other books in the Rip Cord world. But that didn’t take away the enjoyment of this story for me. It’s hot, sweet, aching and I had to keep reading because I had to know what would happen. I’ve been a fan of Jeanne St James for a while and when I saw this book up for review, I jumped. I’m glad I did.

Rip and Gil are great characters. Both are oh-so-male, but they’re also flawed. I like a flawed character. It gives them room to grow. Rip, for all his bombast and bad boy-ness, has some serious scars and holes within him. I liked his growth through the story. He retained his bad boy qualities, but he became endearing. Gil, on the other hand, was a little harder to pin down. I liked him. He’s a strong guy and he’s not ashamed to be gay. But what irked me a little was what seemed like his lack of a backbone. I get there are people that come along that simply overwhelm. I’ve got those people in my life. But I sort of hoped Gil would’ve been a little stronger in his response to Rip–at least initially. That said, I loved the story. The sex scenes scorched and I couldn’t read fast enough. I had to know how it would end. I’m glad I read it. Will I go back and read the others in this world? You bet.

If you want a book that’s hot, sticky and full of heart, but with some sting, then this might be the book for you.

Wade Porter spent his whole life in the shadow of a lover who doled out snippets of love and time as he saw fit—and who insisted that love stay deep in the closet. But now that man is gone, and Wade finds the oceanside cottage where they spent so many weekends together in the Florida Keys cold and empty. He has come one last time, not even sure he wants to keep living.

To his surprise, the house next door is occupied by another bereaved and lonely man. Kent Walker is an artist of romantic gay paintings who is open to the future—and determinedly interested in Wade. Kent wants to show Wade the beauty in being an openly gay man and the possibilities for a real relationship.

Maybe Kent can help Wade let go of the past and discover a better way to live—and love.

No one should ever be a secret.

My heart broke as I read this story. It’s been a while since I’ve had a story cut me to the marrow. BG Thomas wrote these characters in a tender, loving way that made me want to know more about them and root for them, too. I loved Wade and Kent. These two are flawed, sure, but the journey is so…good.

I said my heart broke. Wade lived for a long time in the shadow of his former lover, Gene. He was a secret and expected to be quiet. Considering there are many gay people who feel forced to live this way–from their own choices or those of others–made him realistic. I wanted to hug Wade and let him know it was okay to cry and to move on. I liked the dynamic between Wade and Kent. The age difference is great and the way they look at things is good, too. They’re survivors and finding each other might be the best thing to happen to them.

My only quibble is I wish the story was longer because I didn’t want to let these two characters go. But trust me, it’s not a true quibble. I just loved them so much.

If you want a short story that will tug at the heart strings, then this might be the book for you.

Jack Frost doesn’t nip. He bites — and bites hard.

When reporter Peter Winston gets too close to the secrets of Chris Cringle and North Pole industries, he’s gifted to Chris’s bodyguard and ex-lover Jack Frost. Now it’s a matter of time before he gives into the delicious demands of the sadistic dominant, learning that being naughty can be so nice.

Everybody knows the jolly old elf of Christmas and his good buddy Jack, the guy who brings winter with him…right? Well the sweet and fun loving characters that we all know are far from the truth. Reporter Peter Winston has gotten too close to the truth and must now pay for his curiosity.

Jack Frost is more than ready to make Peter pay but is his payment too harsh or just what Peter needs? You see Jack is not what he shows the world and those that see his true form are never the same again–that is if they are lucky enough to live through the encounter. Peter may just be lucky enough to be what Jack is looking for and what he wants. Will this be Peter’s saving grace or will he miss his opportunity to get what he has always longed for? This novella isn’t about the romance. This is dark BDSM, heavy on the S/M fantasy.

Peter is taken on an intense sexual ride by Jack Frost and he must make some hard decisions. Jack makes Peter look inward and realize what he is truly doing with his life. Jack is a dominant with a mean streak but he gives Peter what he needs. Peter is just as strong and the two make a good couple. Peter longs for the harshness of Jack and we see the emotions that Jack has about Peter. Jack may be a scary and imposing creature but Peter is drawn to him. Jack subjects Peter to some intense scenes and Peter learns what his body wants. The two give each other just what they need physically and must see if their hearts will follow. I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold and turn into something more. Their story is a quick read that moves along nicely. The author does a nice job of mixing the right amount of emotion and sex together to give the reader a strong hot read.

Big Brother is watching every kinky move they make.

After Deon’s Artificial Intelligence module breaks down, Arjun must travel back to the future to collect the alloy he needs for the repair.

To gain access to a probe due to land on Amun 2 in the next few days, he must volunteer as a Dom in an experiment in multiple partner male-on-male sex run by the Klebs.

Arjun discovers the Klebs are using the “experiment” as an excuse to run a live feed BDSM porno channel around their world and gives them a performance they will never forget.

I was excited to see a second book in the STARMEN series from H. C. Brown. In Arjun’s Pups, the series continues with Arjun having to travel through time and space in order to save his good friend Deon, who’s in the first story. I quickly found myself immersed in Arjun’s story. He goes to a place that is using humans as cattle in their so called sexual experiments. The humans do not know and Arjun must make a choice to help them or let them remain unaware and hurting. As Arjun goes about his mission he meets two men that pull at him more than any others ever have and he cannot let them go. Will Arjun find a balance and be able to stop the aliens from experimenting on the humans and save Deon?

Arjun’s story moves along quickly and brings together three good men. Each character is strong on his own and when the three men work together there is no stopping them. Mason and Rhy are good matches for Arjun, both men add something different and special to their relationship. Rhy and Mason must also figure out just where they fit in with Arjun. Will they make the choice for love or go their separate ways? I enjoyed watching the three men find their way to a happy ending.

Their story is a nice mix of emotion and adventure. The author brings their world to life nicely. This was a nice peek at how these three men come to be together and I hope that we get to see more from them and this world in the future.

Fashion photographer Dale Walker takes a train to his hometown, relocating there after nursing a broken heart for six months in another city. His train makes an unscheduled stop to take on a mysterious passenger.

For a long time, Valentine Steel has hoped to meet a man who will love him. When he sees Dale on the train, he’s overjoyed to find a vacant seat beside him.

Dale’s immediate attraction to Valentine has him on edge. He doesn’t want another broken heart, and yet Valentine is so magnetic that Dale’s frozen heart begins to thaw.

Valentine sets out to charm and capture Dale in his sparkling aura. He can’t let the chance to have Dale’s love slip away.

After a nasty break up, Dale is alone for Valentine’s day and has had enough. Determined to quit his moping and refusing to spend the lover’s holiday pining for his ex, Dale decides to leave the city. On the train, he meets a handsome stranger, Valentine Steel. Can these two men be exactly what the other needs?

This is an interesting short story to my mind. I was a little confused until right at the end about the mystery surrounding Valentine – his back-story is where the paranormal element comes into the plotline. Despite the fact most of the plot remains mysterious until the end of the story, I found it refreshingly unique – Valentine’s character and his “quest”. My confusion didn’t hurt my enjoyment of the story, though I would have liked to have understood the subtleties a little earlier on so I could enjoy the growing relationship between Dale and Valentine.

I felt the characters were well written. Dale is a fairly typical man and hero, unlucky in love and wanting to find his soul mate. Valentine, despite some of the mystery surrounding him was also interesting and I enjoyed reading about him trying to woo Dale and fall in love with each other. While there is plenty of steamy sex I didn’t find any aspect of the M/M relationship too envelope pushing. Readers who like a bit of spice with their romance should find this a fun and sexy read.

With a different plotline and two very interesting characters I found this to be a great read. While I would have liked the paranormal aspect of the plot to be a little less mysterious this is a fun and deliciously short read that has plenty of spice and romance.

From a race known for their hedonistic delight in life and emphasis on pleasure and amusement, Artem is a frustrated chef serving prepackaged meals to bored customers on the space station. His one true pleasure comes in the form of an end-of-shift dinner-visit from Constable Driver, once every third day. For months, Artem’s been dreaming about serving the Constable a more physical dessert. When he thinks Driver’s been reassigned, Artem grabs what might be his only chance and woos Driver by palate. If he’s lucky, it might just end up sticky sweet.

Two lonely souls, a diner and a chance to open up. Who wouldn’t want to take the chance?

I wasn’t sure what I was getting when I picked up this short book. I mean, Sticky Sweet. It’s an interesting title, but will the story be overly cutesy or will there be something more? I’m glad to say there was a lot more.

JJ Lore has written a fun, yes fun, story in a few pages. The characters are complex and the plot, while it maybe isn’t so complex, it drew me right in. The writing was tight and I enjoyed myself. This is a quick read, but I had to pay attention. I didn’t want to miss a moment…or a morsel. I like stories with mismatches and Artem and Driver are such characters. But the way they’re written, I could see them being together before they screwed up the courage to try to make it so. I loved how Artem finally opened up and his skills in the kitchen are…yeah, out of this world. Then there’s Driver. He’s in law enforcement. Lore totally got the loneliness and the questioning of a man in Driver’s position, but wrote him with a rich balance of questioning and concern for Artem. I liked these characters and will be on the look out for more featuring them.

If you want a hot, sweet book for a lunch hour read, then this might be the book for you. Recommended.
