Hot times two.

Will and Thomas lost their lover years before. They’ve been looking for a replacement, but can you really replace your love? Move on? Evolve? These two men have to figure that out.

I liked the three characters in this book. Will and Thomas are almost one entity because they are always together. I liked how they balanced each other out. I also liked their brooding vampireness. I’d love to see these two in real life.

Ruby is an interesting character, but I would’ve liked to have been able to visualize her more. I got the vulnerability Thomas and Will saw in her, but I wanted to see her better.

Still, the sex is hot and this is a great short story for a lunch break reading session. Don’t miss this short story.

Their reunion hits a few bumps at first, but soon they’re working through their issues one at a time. This progress is interrupted when an obsessed lover from Killian’s past reemerges. He wants to keep Killian from being with Malcolm—the lost love he’d heard so much about—and he’ll do anything necessary to make Killian his again…

Killian and Malcolm used to play together in a band and had needed to hide their love for each other in their small town. But when their band is offered a recording contract Malcolm just can’t reconcile blowing off college – and his scholarship. Angry and hurt, Killian pushes Malcolm away and the two break up on bad terms. Ten years later Malcolm’s band needs a new member and Killian is offered the opportunity. Can the two men come back together?

I was a little disappointed that the prologue to this story felt a bit disjointed to me. Despite their youth – both men were eighteen – it didn’t ring very true to me that Killian was immature enough to not be able to express himself, and his love for Malcolm in particular, or convey his real feelings. I could understand a teenager a few years younger lashing out angrily and being too confused to express themselves, but since Killian – and Malcolm – were both quite mature in most other respects this felt more like a plot device aimed at driving a wedge between the two men, rather than something that felt real and logical.

After this, however, the book really picked up and I enjoyed it a lot more. Despite the changes in the grown-up Killian I was actually impressed and glad that he could admit to his own part in the break up. I could understand if some readers aren’t immediately taken with the bitter, far more angry Killian than the head-in-the-clouds teenager he’s first presented at, but the character felt far more realistic, mature and understandable to me. And Killian admitting to himself almost immediately upon re-meeting Malcolm about his share of the blame for their breaking up appealed a lot to me.

I enjoyed the stalker sub-plot. While some readers might find it a bit intense I thought it added a good amount of conflict and drama while still being realistic. I also really appreciated how it made Killian see clearly how badly he’d treated people – and also how it opened Killian’s eyes to what Malcolm and Killian’s other band members/friends had been trying to convey to him for years.

Emotional and intense in areas, I found this to be an interesting and strongly erotic romance. There were quite a few issues that I felt were mostly well-handled and I feel this was a good read.

With a little bit luck and help from other outcasts, you just might get to keep both your Princess and the reformed bad-guy half-vampire.

Told from Stefen’s POV, Calling All Heroes is the final chapter in the Otherworld series. It completes the journey of Stefen, Alexander and Princess Aneen in their fight against an evil they didn’t suspect in the first book and determination to stay with each other. Aneen comes into her powers, the Queen shows her true colors and there are some surprising and entertaining new characters introduced.

I liked that the author began this book by explaining how the Queen came to power. It made her a slightly more sympathetic character for a few pages but then I remembered that she made a choice and choices have consequences.

I thought it was a clever plan that the Queen had to get her daughter back and in a way I didn’t suspect.

While book 1 was more about Alexander and Stefen forming a bond this one is all about the menage. The sex gets a little rough in a couple of places but the characters don’t seem to mind. Alexander is all about the blood sharing with some very interesting results.

This second book is shorter than the first and felt rushed to get to the exciting conclusion. I don’t know that there were any specific threads left unexplained but there were a few “that’s very convenient” moments that could have been better fleshed out. Still, overall, it was a entertaining story that has a satisfying ending and worth the read.

Readers who enjoy a healthy dose of fantasy and mayhem should give this little series a try. They do need to be read in order.

Love may be within his reach … if he is able to trust in it.

Gabe Thorne was disgusted by his sister’s plan to purchase an empath. She wanted someone who would be compelled to please her, and only her sudden death interrupted the plan. The empath she’d chosen, Ignacio, needs to bond with an anchor almost immediately, and Gabe volunteers to prevent him from being auctioned off to an abuser by his greedy parents.

Ignacio proves to be a sweet, enchanting guy, and soon Gabe begins to develop real feelings for him. Despite this, and the lifelong commitment he made when he let Ignacio bond to him, Gabe doesn’t believe they can have a real relationship. His long habit of pessimism has protected him from a lot of disappointment over the years. This time? Expecting the worst might ruin any chance of a happy relationship.

Gabe had never been close to his sister, but after her death he still felt guilty that his grief wasn’t stronger. Gabe wasn’t particularly close to any of his family, but he felt it was still a new low that they dealt in what amounted to human trafficking – buying empaths who would attach and become fully reliant on their “owner”. When Gabe meets Ignacio to inform him that Ignacio’s fiancée had died Gabe is rather upset to find Ignacio’s parents as money-hungry as he’d feared. Making the deal despite his original intentions, Gabe has to wonder what he’s going to do with an empath he never expected to have.

I found this to be an interesting and engrossing read. There’s a small reference early on to another book in the series – which I hadn’t read previous to this story – and I was pleased that I could easily read this as a stand alone novel. While set in an alternative/futuristic type of world I didn’t find that there was an over-abundance of weird slang/terms/world-building that I needed to grasp quickly. I actually prefer this sort of “easy understanding” in my sci-fi/futuristic style of stories so I was really pleased and quite relieved. It helped me focus on Ignacio and Gabe’s characters, their situation and the story itself and not have to constantly feel like I was catching up or trying to wrap my head around the world they lived in. Indeed, I felt comfortable enough with the author’s voice, the futuristic world-setting and adored both Gabe and Ignacio’s characters enough I hadn’t even finished the story before I made a note to check out the first book in the series. Personally, I can’t think of a stronger recommendation of any author or story to want to read more, new books before even completing the one I was already in the middle of.

I thought Gabe and Ignacio’s characters to be interesting and the entire situation they found themselves in to be a good storyline. A part of me felt a little like Gabe was “too good to be true”, but I think that’s a bit of cynicism on my behalf. I know I would have hated Gabe’s character had he wanted to take advantage of Ignacio or treat him poorly, so I feel a little unfair thinking the fact Gabe wanted Ignacio to be “free” and have his own life and choices was unrealistically good. The world and setting was certainly different enough that I didn’t feel anything outrageous needed to occur to add extra interest in the plot of characters. Simply the whole situation of what empaths were, and how their lives were structured was plenty of plot and world-building to keep my interest keen and as stated before I enjoyed both Gabe and Ignacio’s characters in and of themselves so that was a bonus.

Readers looking for an intensely erotic story might find the sex parts of this story a little lacking. While Gabe and Ignacio are sexually intimate toward the end of the story the focus was far more strongly upon their relationship and emotional/empathetic connections. While I was pleased they didn’t simply jump right into bed (Ignacio was both quite young and completely inexperienced to the point in my personal opinion of being borderline unable to knowingly give consent) I also would not have been opposed to the two men being intimate a little earlier than they were in the story. I can appreciate, however, that this was a fine line that the author had to walk. While explicit – and the eventual penetrative sex scene was certainly hotly written to my mind – there wasn’t an abundance of erotic, steamy sex in this story.

A surprisingly good, refreshingly different story I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I found the characters and world to be vibrant and engrossing and the relationship between Gabe and Ignacio to be extremely well written. A great new author and series and I am eagerly looking forward to reading more.

Love can be found when you least expect it … if you take a leap of faith.

Cole Gallagher never intended to date an empath. Empaths bond for life, and they like to keep their bonded anchor happy, which is more responsibility and power over another person than anyone ought to have. Despite his lack of interest in being an anchor, Cole gets talked into meeting a coworker’s empath cousin, and he genuinely likes the man.

Aiden is everything Cole wants in a partner: charismatic, witty, cute, and a lot of fun. The catch is that he only has a few months to find an anchor, so Cole faces pressure to quickly make a lifelong commitment. When Aiden is kidnapped, Cole has to decide whether he will let his fears win and walk away, or take a chance on love.

Despite legally having the same rights as regular humans – empaths are still considered a human rights issue. Empaths are still largely abused, kidnapped and used practically as slaves. Cole and his friend Gabe strongly oppose this sad reality, but it’s not until Cole is introduced to a friend’s cousin who is an empath – Aiden – that the issue hits really close to home. Cole might be reticent about becoming Aiden’s anchor, but after meeting Aiden, Cole finds it just too hard to say no.

I actually picked up this book after reading the second in the series (His To Cherish). I’m normally a stickler for reading things in order, but I have to be honest – I enjoyed His To Cherish enough that I wanted to read the other book in the series and enjoy it too. So I started reading this with both a good feeling and high expectations. I was really pleased, therefore, when those expectations were for the most part met. There was a bit more background information about Cole’s friend Gabe – who is central to “His To Cherish”’s plot – but generally I read this story easily by itself and feel that both stories can be read largely independent of each other.

I was also pleased that while the world the story is set in is definitely alternative – a sort of sci-fi/futuristic mix with some paranormal (empaths etc) elements thrown in – I could easily pick up the lingo and the differences between our reality and the story’s settings. I’m often wary of sci-fi stories because the world are frequently too complex for me to fully grasp and I spend most of my reading time trying to catch up with the world and that loses the pleasure for me in the characters and plots. This wasn’t the case with this story and I really enjoyed how easily I could read it and follow along with Cole, Aiden and the storyline.

Cole and Aiden are both interesting and layered characters. I was pleased that the different plot and world settings made fairly regular characters almost different and unique for their setting. That was quite fresh to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also was very pleased that Aiden was quite vocal about how the entire situation felt from the empath’s perspective. Showing this other side to the story really resonated with me and made the plot and story itself more complex and deeper than I expected. I found the story very rich and detailed and I absolutely loved it. I strongly feel the author is to be commended on a different perspective to an interesting plot and these two stories are great examples of how turning just a few things sideways can create not only a whole new world, but a different style of story.

With intriguing characters, a great plot and plenty of potential for more stories this is a great read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I will be eagerly looking forward to any future additions to this series.

In a world of shape shifters, fairies, selkies and mermen, a war is brewing. The fate of Otherworld stands on the brink of destruction. Can a violent half vampire, a stubborn bodyguard, and half goddess princess save this magical world?

A princess, a bodyguard and a half-vampire walk into a bar…actually, they fought their way out of surprising ending or maybe it’s a beginning. What I know for sure is that it’s a entertaining story that left me wanting more.

It’s not easy to be the “bad guy” when you realize you’re wildly attracted to the good guys. Alexander is seriously cocky, sexy and fun to watch. Except for when he has to vamp out on some unsuspecting foe, then he’s deadly. He doesn’t plan to be on the other side of the plot to kidnap the princess, meaning the side that does the rescuing rather than the taking, but he’s much better suited for it. Especially when he teams up with Stefen.

It’s so obvious that Stefen is in love with his charge, I’m not sure how they’ve gone this long without giving in, even a little bit. But Stefen is all things noble and protective and strong. It was funny to see how Alexander threw him off his game and when he gives in to Alexander, oh man! Hot personified!

While I really got into the backstory of how the Queen hold the throne and where Aneen came from–seriously dark and compelling–there were a couple threads in the story that had me wondering. So what happened to Brance? I could guess but then Alexander says something on the way to rescue the princess that has me doubting my theory. Also, Pan’s ulterior motive. It wasn’t that it wasn’t plausible, I just wouldn’t have guessed it. The one that really had me in a tail spin though, in a good way because I never even considered it, was the big ending. The author led me down one direction and then totally doubled back when I wasn’t looking. Bravo! I like not being able to guess an ending as long as said ending makes sense. Not only does it make sense it sets up the next book.

Readers who enjoy fantasy, good dose of the paranormal and some smoking hot bromance and guy love, need to give this one a try. I’m personally looking forward to the continuing adventure to see if it ties up the loose ends. Quick read, lots to take in!

Brett and Ralph butt heads from the beginning. Ralph wants Brett to be more in touch with his feelings; Brett wants Ralph to give him his therapy and leave him alone. Benj and Jean get along far better, with Jean showing Benj around the kitchen and reassuring him when things with Brett get strained.

Before Ralph can even begin to work on Brett’s shoulder, though, Brett faces an even more difficult physical challenge, one that does more than threaten his career. He and Benj have to work through some tough issues, making decisions that will affect the rest of their lives together. Their gradual friendship with Ralph and Jean helps them through the bad times, but even that might not be enough to pull them through.

Benj and Brett have been together for many years and are a solidly committed couple. Brett’s shoulder injury – a real threat to his baseball career – has brought the couple low, but they’re not ready to call it quits yet. Determined to try and get Brett recovered they go to a retreat to try one last ditch effort. Ralph and his lover Jean ran the retreat and were determined to do all they could to help Brett recover from his injury and subsequent surgeries. But Brett and Ralph butt heads from day one. Can the two couples work together to reach the same goal they all share?

I absolutely loved this book. I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical to begin with – sporty type of stories usually aren’t my thing, but I was both delighted and surprised by the depths in this story. I think it was a stroke of genius to have the four main characters already in two committed, solid relationships. That got a lot of the “will they/won’t they” type of drama out of the way early on. It also left plenty of room for the real meat and bones of the story to shine through. The conflict of Brett and his shoulder injury, the drama of how it had so monumentally effected his and Benj’s relationship and life together. Brett and Ralph do butt heads, but in the normal manner of two alpha men used to doing their own thing having to work together while still effectively strangers. The emotions and dynamics of the four men were interesting and grabbed my attention right from the first few pages. Each man was their own character, different and unique and I utterly loved watching them all interact and add what they could – both to the plot and the story as a whole.

There was also an abundance of emotion in this story which just thrilled me. Yes, there was plenty of passion and chemistry, but while the romance and love was clearly present it was the main situation of helping Brett heal from his injury and get back into professional form that was the main mountain that needed to be overcome. And seeing the four men interact together and finally work together as a team in a day-to-day, routine kind of way that really sold me on this. Yes, baseball and the higher goal of getting Brett back into peak form was the aim, but the “sports” side of the story wasn’t so strong that it overwhelmed the far more important (in my opinion) aspects of the two couples’ relationship, the love and devotion between them and the actual act of Brett recovering properly and getting his head back on straight. I really feel that the whole story focused on the exact right aspects and the complexities of the characters and my enjoyment of all their interactions really made this story fantastic and one I look forward to enjoying again.

Readers looking for a hurt/comfort/healing style of story should definitely find this appealing. There’s interesting and complicated characters all working together and trying to find the way they fit together best. There’s two committed couples (and some deliciously steamy sex) but best of all there’s normal and I feel, relatable emotions that just shine through every page. While there is sport central to the storyline it’s not overpowered by the things that best make up any romance novel – characters, interactions, conflict, worry and love. This is a great story I thoroughly enjoyed and can heartily recommend to others.

TJ and Wacey have a lot of pent-up history between them, but it looks like TJ isn’t the only one with Wacey in his sights. Can TJ work out what’s going on before it’s too late?

This is an interesting and fast-moving story that I really enjoyed. TJ and Wacey are both complex and interesting characters with a mountain of baggage and words left unsaid between them. I also particularly liked the wealth of secondary characters around them all in the small town. This gave a good layering effect to the story in my mind and there was no shortage of suspects, which kept me invested and eagerly turning the pages. It was clear to me fairly early on that someone had nefarious purposes toward Wacey, though I was equally delighted that the reasoning’s behind it weren’t simple. All too often in erotic/mystery stories I can clue in on the “bad guy” and their reasons far too early, but in this case there were so many characters and such a lot happening it took me a while to sort through it all – and that had me captivated and eager to read more.

I was particularly delighted by the honest and close relationship TJ had with his ex-wife. While I’m not sure how realistic it was, I feel the author did an amazing job in making it believable, caring and interesting. Personally, I found it refreshing and lovely that two people could be divorced but still remain friendly and companionable. TJ’s blossoming relationship with Wacey was also well written and I enjoyed following along as the two men reconnected. I can foresee a number of future books with Wacey’s large and rambunctious family, plus possibly other members of the small community.

With some great characters, an interesting and complex plot and some steamy hot sex, I found this to be a great book with plenty going for it. A good, long read I thoroughly enjoyed it and would happily read more by this author.

Eli’s head hasn’t been on straight after returning from duty as a soldier. Really struggling to follow the suggestions of his counselor, Eli notices Ben and mistakes him for a homeless man. Ben is an artist on a work visa from Tel Aviv, is struggling in his own way with all the changes so far from his native home. Eli and Ben slowly get to know each other, can they each be what the other needs?

This is an interesting and sweet story. At first I found it a little difficult to get my head around the style of the story – each chapter is divided into two sections, one showing the story from Ben’s perspective and the other from Eli’s. They’re both told in the third person, but the short chapters and changing between the two characters took a little getting used to. I did end up enjoying it, and indeed seeing things from both men’s perspectives helped me feel attached to each character in his own right, but it was certainly a different style of writing and I could understand if it wasn’t every readers’ cup of tea.

I have to admit to being a little surprised that most of the sex scenes had the bedroom door effectively closed. While I admit that Ben and Eli jumped into bed together fairly early on in their friendship, for an erotic romance I rather expected at least some level of detail to be made explicit in the sensual scenes. I admit that I appreciated a little more “getting-to-know-you” time in the story, but readers expecting and wanting lots of hot, steamy sex might be as surprised as I was when the story cuts to the next scene before the first “main event”, so to speak. But I also have to admit that having the sex be not quite as descriptive as I’m used to made the story feel slightly less passionate. I loved the connection and chemistry between Eli and Ben, and I absolutely felt that they become deeply in love and devoted to each other, but when I am reading an erotic romance I do feel there needs to be a certain level of explicitness.

I loved how complicated both Ben and Eli’s characters were. The author did an amazing job to my mind in revealing all the layers each man had and showing me as a reader just how good they were for each other. This came across to me as a deeply emotional read and I was thoroughly hooked and invested in both men, not just their romance together but also each as individual men, healing from their wounds and finding the next path they each wanted to take.

Readers looking for an emotional, strongly character-centric story should find this as breathtaking as I did. While the sex wasn’t as detailed as I would have liked, the connection and chemistry between Eli and Ben was undeniable and the strong plot and detailed characters made up for a lot of this.

Terry is a tiger shifter and enjoys a bit of kink with his sexual partners. Usually the top, Terry is taken completely surprise in a number of ways by Ash, a bear shifter. The heat between them explodes almost instantly, but can the two men make more than a night of it together?

This is a seriously hot and sexy short story. I loved the chemistry and kinky sex between Terry and Ash. For such a short length story I felt the build-up between the men was perfect – not so long as to drag on or shortchange the kink, but quick enough that it didn’t feel to me like they merely clapped eyes on each other and fell into insta-love. I thought the author did a great job balancing the two and it really worked for me.

While I loved all the super-hot sex, the growing relationship between Ash and Terry is the only other aspect to the plot. Terry isn’t used to having a partner strong enough to dominate him and it takes a little getting used to. I could understand if this makes the plot just a little too thin for some readers. Personally I loved the wild and sexual ride Terry and Ash take together, but for such a short story I’m not sure the author could have added a complicated plot into it without losing some of the blossoming romance. I also would have liked to have seen and learned a little more about the paranormal world.

A hot, sexy and very lightly kinky story this was an excellent, quick read and one I enjoyed. Recommended.
