Ben has a sixth sense for love. He can instantly pick out partners who will be together for life, like a modern Cupid. Unfortunately, his gift has a serious limitation: he can’t use it on himself.

Emotionally scarred by his parents’ acrimonious divorce, he doesn’t trust love he can’t sense. This drives him to bury his feelings for Isaiah, his friend with benefits, because he can’t stand the thought of losing him to a bad breakup. Then he finds out Isaiah is in love with him.

He’s used to dealing with guaranteed happily ever afters. Now he has to decide which is more important: the promise of forever, or the man he wants to spend it with.

Ben had a secret almost-super power. He could match people romantically together with alarming accuracy. Problem was he couldn’t seem to turn his talents to himself. When Ben’s friend and occasional fuck-buddy, Isaiah, broke up with his latest boyfriend, Ben was pleased he could spend time with the man once again. Ben knew Isaiah was special to him, but his talents couldn’t tell if they were a good match. Considering the depth of hate and bitterness between Ben’s parents, Ben wasn’t willing to risk his heart – or life – on something he wasn’t absolutely sure about.

I enjoyed this lighthearted short story. Sexy and straight-forward, I found this to be a fun read. Ben and Isaiah are both interesting characters – Ben’s gifts in particular captured my imagination and attention. While there’s outwardly not a lot to the story – Ben’s reluctance to take a leap of faith when he can’t foreshadow his own happy ending – it still really made me think and imagine what it would be like if I could see something in relation to everyone around me but not see it for myself. It was an interesting conundrum and helped keep my attention on the story.

I feel the author did a good job working in Isaiah’s sister to highlight to Ben a few home truths about Isaiah’s feelings for Ben and how the status quo couldn’t be maintained too much longer, but I do feel that readers looking for a complicated or really dense plot might find this story a little light on. Personally, I enjoyed the lightness of the storyline and found it a happy and relaxing way to pass a rainy afternoon with some interesting characters, steamy M/M sex. The “what if” aspect to the plot was welcome too – what if people really could just “see” perfect matches and play cupid? It was a delightful thought and a very happy thing to ponder while I went about the rest of my day.

With interesting characters, a good albeit light plot and some steamy sex this was a fun short story and delicious happy ending that I really enjoyed.

Zeus is determined to discover what’s really going on and help everyone in the process.

This is an interesting read and quite different from a number of paranormals that I usually read. While the shifter culture and paranormal aspects of the story is definitely front and center, having the characters all living in a small town gives it a bit of a different feel to my mind. This is a book in the middle of a series, but I feel that there’s plenty of explanation around the characters and who they are, as well as how they’re all interconnected. I feel readers who have read some of the previous stories might get more out of this story but it can still be read by itself as its own story. I was a little disappointed that there was no explicit sex in the story – but there’s plenty of chemistry and steamy kisses between Toren and Zeus that kept the heat level sensual and steamy.

I loved Zeus’ character, large and strong but soft and protective in his heart, he’s the classic gentle giant – even if he would happily rip someone’s throat out while protecting those he loves. There’s quite a mystery for much of the story revolving around Toren, but it was clear to me that Toren and Zeus were made for each other. I was particularly impressed at how well Zeus managed to balance his responsibilities as beta of the pack, his loyalty and love for the alpha, his love for his small family but also the new feelings of protective responsibility Zeus felt for Toren. I feel it would have been easy for this to be badly handled – so I was pleased and impressed that I felt the author did a good job. Zeus didn’t lie or evade the alpha or his responsibilities, but neither did he back down or bow to one side and ignore the other. I really liked how Zeus managed to meet everyone’s needs while being honest but also sticking to his protector/beta responsibilities. And his willingness to not make snap judgments and also trust his own instincts really helped make this an excellent story to my mind.

With a bunch of interesting and complicated characters, a really good, solid plot woven properly through the story and a steamy romance this was a great story that checked a lot of my favourite boxes. I will happily be rereading this book again in the near future.

When a school assignment about holiday traditions unexpectedly broadsides her, she discovers burying the past isn’t as easy as it looks, and the stark reality of her life before her adoption sinks in. Ashamed of the bleakness and poverty she came from, Zig struggles with the assignment until an epiphany strikes the whole family—it’s time to start their own traditions.

Zig and her fathers plunge into the insanity of holiday joy, exploring everything the season has to offer and learning how precious family truly is along the way.

Deacon and his husband Lang had adopted Deacon’s young niece, Zig after the death of her parents. They were a solid family, albeit in a non-traditional way. When Zig is tasked to do a “our family traditions” style project for the holiday season she’s upset that her different background means she doesn’t really have holiday traditions. Determined to give her everything, Deacon and Lang decide it’s certainly time for their little family to create their own traditions and ring in the holidays properly.

I enjoyed this heart-warming short story. I was pleased that Deacon, Lang and Zig were already well established as a loving family unit. And while Zig’s difficult past was heart-breaking, it was delightful to watch these three characters create some of their own happiness and make new traditions to go along with the few they already had. I loved both how different Deacon and Lang were, and how they could work together to offer Zig everything a young tween girl could need. I thought this story was both heart-breaking, outrageously funny and warming with how much love, tolerance and passion there was in it. I think this would be an excellent “pick me up” style of happy story for readers who enjoy family-orientated tales that always end with everyone being happy, safe and loved.

Readers looking for a strongly holiday-centric story might not feel this is quite “Christmassy” enough for them. Much like the characters themselves I feel this is a slightly non-traditional Christmas story. The tale isn’t about Christmas itself, so much as it’s about the small family of three discovering what traditions they enjoy as a family unit and learning/investigating some new ones that they can turn into future traditions. I think this is what gives the story so much of its “feel good” warmth. Deacon, Lang and Zig clearly adore each other and are strongly invested in each other’s happiness, and watching them interact together as a family and set out some new traditions was lovely. There is plenty of love and chemistry between Deacon and Lang – but not much graphic sex, so readers looking for a heavily erotic story might find this slightly lacking. Personally, I enjoyed the one descriptive scene and found it intimate and sensual.

I feel this is a lovely story and would suit both old and young readers. Modern and tolerant, this is a story that left me with a happy feeling and warmth that I really enjoyed. With interesting and vibrant characters and a really good plot this book was a delight to read.

I found this to be a fast-paced and interesting story. I loved how Edward and Graham were both so similar but still their own characters. While the sexual chemistry and tension was thick throughout the entire story, I enjoyed that there was still plenty of plot – Edward’s slightly crazy ex-lover and the stress of Graham wanting to prove something to the board of his father’s company. For such a short story there is plenty going on and the sizzling sex between Edward and Graham just adds a lovely bit of spice.

The whole ex-boyfriend plot was a little clichéd, but added a nice element of conflict into the story. I felt the real strength here, though, was in the addictive quality of Edward and Graham learning about each other and testing each other’s limits. Both men are used to being in charge, strong willed and determined. This could have turned into a chest-beating alpha style competition but I really loved how both men were willing to give when needed and both acknowledged that they could learn things from each other. The sex was smoking hot, but also had a tenderness to it that I felt added a lot of depth – Edward and Graham weren’t just hooking up or having a quick fling, they were falling in love and it was wonderful to read.

Fast paced and with two very interesting, complex characters this was a great short story.

Rusty’s parents disagree, and Rusty finds himself homeless for the holidays. But with Oliver’s love and the help of Oliver’s amazing family, Rusty realizes that failing college doesn’t mean he can’t pass real life with flying rainbow colors.

Rusty wasn’t stupid, but he often was a little slow on the uptake. A sweet, gentle young man he’s surprised when most of his jock friends – class-mates he’s been with for most of his school life – are mean and homophobic for no reason to the new guy, Oliver. Rusty is friends with Oliver, and over the course of the year they form a firm, solid friendship. The night before Rusty is going to move for college, Oliver finally screws up his courage and kisses Rusty – and it’s like a light bulb pops off in his head. Rusty takes a while to understand himself, but when he finally does – and comes out to his parents – his world is turned upside down.

I have to be honest, I loved Rusty’s character. Sweet, honest and utterly adorable, Rusty was a genuine guy who was just trying to sort himself out. I thoroughly enjoyed reading most of the story through his third-person perspective and I really liked how he viewed the world and everything in it. He struggled so hard to live up to the expectations of his parents, and even initially those of his friends as well. I also really appreciated how Oliver didn’t try to change Rusty, or force him to make discoveries or decisions before he could assess and understand them at Rusty’s own pace. I thought Oliver was patient, funny and kind – a true friend and, eventually, a wonderful lover and partner.

I enjoyed laughing aloud at a few of the antics Rusty’s new college room-mate got up to while Rusty was at college, but I really appreciated how even separated from Oliver, Rusty continued to value and need Oliver’s friendship and support. It made it clear to me that both Oliver and Rusty were genuinely attached to each other – whether as friends or more – that is wasn’t simply a matter of circumstances and them being geographically close to each other in school and town. Their friendship and emotions ran deeper than that and I loved watching them stand the test of time.

A slow-paced coming of age style of story, I really loved this full length novel. Rusty and Oliver are interesting, layered characters who really blossom as they come together. There’s a strong and large cast of important secondary characters – Rusty’s college room-mate, parents and sister as well as Oliver’s large and boisterous family. I loved how everyone interacted all together and really helped sell the realism and interesting plots throughout the story. But the whole time Rusty, his self-discovery and his long-standing friendship with Oliver was always front and center. The sex is steamy and hot – but I didn’t find it over the top. The sex really added an extra layer to the story, not detracting from the friendship or plot aspects of the story.

Well written and very heartwarming, I really enjoyed this story and will happily read more by this author.

I really kind of loved this story. It hit all the right notes for me from character personality, story development and fun dialogue. Even the antagonist was believable and all around self-serving and mean. I enjoyed not liking him.

Nathan and Flynn have a bit of background that I found interesting. The author alludes to it multiple times throughout the story but doesn’t fully reveal the depth of their connection until the end.

There are some great secondary characters in this story as well. Nathan’s mom is a sweetie. I had to laugh at the ‘small town’ feel of the island community where everyone knew everyone and was always asking about Ms. Moffat. I had an on/off love/hate relationship with Nate’s best friend. His actions don’t always feel like their in Nate’s best interest but that made more sense when the story played out as well.

I wouldn’t mind returning to Ceremony to catch up and watch another couple find their forever. Good read!

Eddie knows this is completely different to his other companions, but something about Gray hits him hard and he wants to build something with the very private man.

I enjoyed this emotional and interesting story. Gray and Eddie were both layered characters and there was plenty of mystery surrounding Gray in particular. I initially found it a little difficult to get a read on Gray – he seemed to blow hot and cold a little and while this was fully explained throughout the course of the story it still meant I took a while to really warm up to his character. Eddie, in comparison, was a lot easier for me to become fond of. With an enormous heart and a house full of stray pets I almost immediately wanted Eddie to find his happily ever after. I also really loved how there didn’t need to be a whole swag of secondary characters to help round out the stories – Eddie’s closest pet cats and dogs filled this area out nicely and I loved how the author gave each of the main pets their own characteristics and they helped both highlight the isolation Eddie felt but also stopped the book from feeling as if it lacked the supporting cast it needed.

The slower pace of the romance really appealed to me. Gray has a complicated past and instead of info-dumping or having it all come out in a rush to help move along the romance between Gray and Eddie I enjoyed the fact there was quite a bit of to-and-fro between the two men first. While readers looking for an intensely erotic and heavily-sexed up story might feel the pace a little too slow for their tastes I preferred letting the plot and characters unwind a little more sedately. It seemed to suit the story to my mind and keep the feel of the story real. Gray didn’t at all strike me as the sort of character to just open up immediately, so this extra time felt real and I liked how both men needed to work their way together over the course of a number of exchanges.

The sex, when it occurred, was deliciously hot and intense. There was so much emotion between the two men – so much hurt and loneliness that they bridged together. It felt to me like it just rolled from the pages. While hot and sexy, I really feel the depth of emotion and connection between Eddie and Gray is what makes this book stand out so much from others like it. Readers who enjoy intensely emotional, hurt/comfort style of stories should really enjoy this story and find it as satisfying as I did.

A hot story for a winter’s night.

I’ve never read a book by Emma Holly and I’m glad I remedied that. This story was hot. I do mean hot. The three characters had a definite spark and it was refreshing to see them connect.

I did have a few quibbles, though. Part of my problem may be due to me not having read the other books in the series. It seemed like the characters jumped right into the action rather quickly. This might not be bad for some readers, but it took me a couple rereads to get caught up. Also, there were a few instances where I wasn’t sure whose point of view I was in and that was a tad confusing.

The sex is hot in this story. I mean HAWT. The connection between the characters is deep, so that’s a plus. I liked how Georgie wasn’t a bland beauty, but was a bit rough around the edges while having a heart of gold. I felt the heat between Iksander and Connor, but I had no real idea of what either man looked like. It was okay, though because the speed and intensity of the love scenes balanced it out.

If you’re looking for a story that’s hot and quick, then this one might be the story for you.

Casey’s life was an endless party and he had no problems with that – nor the fact that he worked as a porn star. When Lee turns Casey down, Casey can’t decide if his interest is pique, curiosity, or something far more unusual – something he’s never experienced before.

I found this to be an interesting style of story. Told in the first person – from Casey’s perspective – I initially couldn’t decide if I liked Casey’s character or not. While not mean or malicious, I did find Casey to be overly self-absorbed and just a bit more shallow than I could warm to in the beginning. In this respect I found the first-person narrative to be quite limiting. I didn’t understand what Lee saw in Casey because the reader isn’t privy to anything from Lee’s perspective. I could guess that Lee knew from discussions with their mutual friend/s that Casey held depths his shallow outwardly persona didn’t always portray, but this all made it difficult for me to understand the mechanics of the two men coming together and forging a relationship.

There’s plenty of porn-sex and sizzle throughout this short story, and I really did enjoy the perspective of what life as a porn star might look like. While certainly not everyone’s cup of tea this book was different and interesting and I felt the characters – while not traditional or comfortable – were engaging and fresh. Given all the porn-sex stuff that happened I didn’t mind at all that Lee and Casey didn’t really get intimate until the very end of the story. This helped give the feel of the book more of a self-exploration for Casey, allowing him to come to realise that he had more to offer than a big penis and great sex and a porn lifestyle. For such a short story this book really held quite a few different messages and I feel the author did a great job weaving it all together into a light and fun package.

Sexy and different, this was a good read.

Life for comic book store owner Alex Martin usually runs to the mundane. Sure, he has a regular influx of geeks and freaks, but for the most part, it’s a familiar weird. That all changes when he opens up Planet X Comics one morning and finds a corpse in the middle of his shop.

When Detective James Castillo is called in to investigate, Alex is torn between wanting to climb the man like a tree and giving him a wide berth. Luckily for Alex, the handsome detective is just as interested in him—as a suspect in the murder.

Alex was understandably upset when he returned to his comic book store only to find a dead body lying in the middle of the floor. Detective James Castillo might be a police officer, but he’s also the sort of deliciously off-limits type of man Alex usually lusts after from afar and never approaches. Can the two men figure out their attraction to each other – and what happened to the dead man in the comic book store?

I found this to be a fun and lighthearted short story. Alex and James are interesting and good characters that I liked. The plotline is a little crazy (in a good sense) and my only real complaint is that the vast majority of the police work and solving the crime was conducted completely off-screen. I understand that the author had a limited amount of space in the short length of this story and I sympathise with the fact the relationship building between Alex and James needed to take higher priority than solving the crime. But I have to be honest, I felt rather short-changed that we jumped from one scene where James and Alex are taking witness statements and discussing the dead body and the next scene is James explaining to Alex how he’s solved the crime and everything is all laid out. There was no chance for me as a reader to discover who the dead person was, to think or listen about motives etc – we literally jumped from discovering the body to being told how and why he was murdered. It made most of that aspect of the plot feel very much like a red herring or afterthought.

The romance between Alex and James, thankfully, was not given short shrift though. I enjoyed watching the two men learn about each other and hunger for each other (their first official date was funny and I actually laughed aloud reading it). The sex was hot and while it was a brief scene this is a very short story and I could totally forgive the quickness of it when so many other things were happening at the same time.

Fun and light this is a great short story. While it’s part of a series I personally feel that it stands completely alone – the characters are all independent and there’s no reference of previous stories. I enjoyed the small hints of geekiness and comic-book fandoms and felt both Alex and James’ characters were vibrant and interesting. With a bit of sex, a dash of laughter and the plot of a dead body to brighten things up this was a lovely story I thoroughly enjoyed.
