Readers looking for a strongly erotic, graphic story about four brothers sharing the one lady should definitely find this hits a lot of the good notes. I was personally a little dubious about how quickly Sam settled into flirting – and then intimacy – with the four men. She had literally dropped everything – her work, her home, her life – and run away to escape a creepy stalker, yet within an hour of being on the ranch she’s humming and flirting with these four brothers who she had only just met for the first time. It just didn’t really strike me as sensible or realistic. While I admit leeway should be given as Sam had heard plenty of stories about the men and knew them to be safe – they were the cousins of her best friend, after all – it still felt just a little too surreal for me, the massive one-eighty turnabout from scared, stressed, frightened woman to flirty, winking sex siren. I was pleased she didn’t jump immediately into bed with the brothers – that would have stretched my disbelief too far – but I found it odd that Sam had no problems opening up about her difficult past or sharing her secret, most private thoughts with these men from the start. It all felt a little too quick for me, to be honest.

Once I disconnected my brain, however, and just relaxed and enjoyed the story for the sexy shenanigans they were, I enjoyed it a whole lot more. While it took a while for me to really believe in the connection between the four brothers and Sam, the author’s writing was really solid here and I couldn’t help but be swept along for the ride. Admittedly Sam sure got attached to them – and their relationship – a lot quicker than I did as a reader, but as we’re introduced more deeply to the brothers I got invested in them all, and finally really got attached to the five of them living their happily ever after together. Lance, in particular, was a character I grew fond of – his difficult soldier past really had me cheering for him. I feel the author did a good job making the four men distinguishable from each other and making the story deeper than just a “moresome” style of group-sex saucy tale.

Readers looking for a heavily plotted, realistic story might not find what they’re looking for here, but for an erotic reverse-harem style of story this ticks a lot of the right boxes in my mind. The stalker plot was resolved toward the end of the story but for most of the book the focus is on Sam and her working out the relationship and dynamics between her four men. I found this to be a light, sexy read.

Told in first person POV, Luring the Pack wasn’t the typical shifter-finds-mate type paranormal I’m used to. Truly, I would be hard pressed to call this erotic romance, at least in the beginning. There was really little to no romance, especially throughout the first half of the book. The heroine has such mixed feelings for the shifters. Lust certainly. Curiosity, sure. Fear, definitely lots of that. There are more romantic feelings between the group towards the end but the lust seems to stay in the forefront.

This book pushes the line on nearly being monster erotica. Not because there’s sex in partial or full animal form, or at least none that reaches fruition. It just had a dark gritty feeling about it. Young half naked woman running from a pack of wolves, knowing and accepting that the end of the chase means an orgy had a lot to do with that perception. Also, more than once Emmalina ends up on the ground and covered in mud.  Or maybe it was her circumstances. Her house seems to be in disrepair, the car doesn’t drive well, she has to ride a rickety bike, she’s hungry, the trailer she rents to Judson and Dane is a wreck, and she works at a dead end job at the local diner. I waffled back and forth on not understanding her reasoning for making certain decisions and then trying to cut her some slack because she’d been through a lot of bad in a really short time.

This book took me out of my comfort zone and maybe that’s a good thing every once in a while. I’ve read plenty of fated-mate type books and many fall into specific pattern I’ve come to expect. This ones different but then it also slowly moved more towards traditional. Her mates, including the Alpha, are fiercely protective and jealous of anyone touching her other than themselves. I did like her mates even though they were a little too pat. The Alpha (a doctor), plus two more wolves (a lawyer and a psychiatrist) who could both vie for beta and then there’s Judson, he’s something special that I won’t reveal, but that was truly different and unexpected.

Readers who like to go for something a little different, who don’t mind a little harshness or grittiness to their erotic paranormal stories may find this one entertaining. It’s not just sex scene after sex scene, those don’t even start until later in the story, but there is lots of teasing build up that made the first serious kisses pretty hot. When they all decide it’s time to claim their mate, watch out, that’s a lot of body parts and it’s a good thing this girl has stamina and plenty of time to really think about how bad she wants this and them.

The men for the most part are actually pretty kind and considerate. Judson has a truly heart tugging back story and then, as often happens in packs, there’s a power struggle that endeared the Alpha to me. Dane and Edward were just extra sexy man/wolf candy but I didn’t have a problem with them being a part of this, either. There’s also a whole side story to do with Emmalina’s sister that feels kind of clunky and unnecessary to the story but maybe the author plans to use it as a jumping off point for another book. That could be interesting.

This isn’t a terribly long read but it was thankfully long enough that it didn’t feel like it was completely centered around sex. The power struggle I mentioned was well written with some pretty dramatic scenes. Overall a eye opening read that’s sure to find an audience.

BDSM reads are intriguing to read, more so for someone in the lifestyle. Readers can gauge the story and contents by their own experiences. This one meets pretty much what I’d consider BDSM standards (keep in mind the length of the book)… each of the four Doms were shown as caring and protective. They proved that a Dom can give a sub what she needs without crossing the line and being a jerk.

This was a short read, the story flowed well and characters were very believable.

I loved the interaction between all four males. There were two big win points for me: when Nico asked Tawni a question, she nodded… but he made her voice what she wanted. That meant something to me because it showed that the writer understood that communication was key to a D/s relationship. The second win point… comes almost at the end of the book. I really can’t say what it was without giving away the conclusion, but it’s an important part.

Suffice it to say this was a well written short story and I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good ménage, BDSM themed story.

DC is the heart of the group, his caring personality makes the others want to be around him. Andy has a spice for life, which had me smiling from ear to ear at times. Reed is the most lost of all of the characters, even so he’s determined to protect those he care about no matter the cost. Together this groups is unstable and truly entertaining.

The subplot with the demons, in my opinion, could have used some spicing up. Even though it’s the basis for everyone coming together, I felt it could have had a more dominant place in the story. For example, I would like to have seen a bit more action in the battles. I think that it would have added some adrenaline that would have helped build the tension.

The romantic plot in this story was exciting. You had couples, potential couples and a group all intertwined between these five people. At times I questioned, along with the characters, how they would make it work, but in the end everyone seemed to be getting what they wanted and what they needed, which is what all relationships are truly about.

The romantic involvement and wonderful characters made this an easy read and I would love to see more of these characters.

With so many bodies in the bed, how can a girl not get flustered? If I had to give this story a heat level, it would be “scorching” because you cannot help but fan yourself while reading this tasty treat.

One thing that did not change was Elijah who I thoroughly enjoyed in the previous story Sanctuary, and he did not disappoint in this one. His spitfire personality really keeps everyone on their toes, which with so many characters is not an easy feat. This fiery personality ensured his place as one of my favorite characters.

Two characters that did shock me were Andrew and Logan. They seemed like different characters. Logan is no longer the strong domineering alpha who seemed like a borderline bully. Instead, he became an understanding partner who loved and respected his partners. In the first story Andrew seemed to be as much as a leader as Logan, just not the same style. In this story he seemed too submissive and sometimes got lost amongst the stronger characters. These changes were not necessary bad changes, but they left me feeling a bit puzzled because the changes were so drastic.

Asylum also introduced two new main characters to the storyline: Malik and Kali. Malik is a strong character and purposefully vague. It felt as if the author recognized the mistakes she originally made and corrected them in this story, but it left me a bit disconnected because of it.

The writing style of this story read very smoothly. With a story involving so many characters, I was worried I would get confused as a read. Instead, I was able to easy tell each character different personalities and keep up with the actions including in the bedroom. This is something I really commend the author on. She even incorporated small details like different nicknames from each of the main characters to make you understand which was speaking.

Still, the story was able to stand on its own and even added a little more than the first story, and for that, it was an enjoyable read.

That’s pretty exciting because readers are going to get a full length story in each book rather than six or more short stories.

Okay, she isn’t actually holding the men hostage but she does have the final say on them either getting or giving up a million dollar bonus for participating in her off season team building classes. Bandit’s teammates Curt, Kevin, Mike, Randy and Marcus could care less about working together until their common goal is centered on a single name: Tess.

Ms. Oak and Ms. Lang have stepped outside the “ménage playbook” and done something a little different with their group of characters, yet still gave them a happily ever after. What they’ve done is not often seen and hard to pull off without leaving one or more characters essentially flailing or rendered un-necessary to the story. I won’t tell you more except to say that it works beautifully.

Ms. Oak has an incredible voice for writing ménage relationships that make the reader want to consider the merits of that untraditional lifestyle. While this is a dual writer book you can easily read her personal touches on the story. Ms. Land likewise is a terrific writer. Other brothers, Phoenix, Dallas and Denver make a pretty good impression on Jessie for her first days in Wilde as well but I’m really looking forward to seeing how Austin reacts to meeting her. Austin is portrayed as the loner who plans to get out of Wilde at the first opportunity. Also, he’s into the BDSM lifestyle so that should prove interesting.
