The author initiates a reader to a very complicated relationship dynamic between three best friends, Shelby, Max and Kyle. They love each other on various levels: long term, growing up as best friends, the new guy on the block that clicks with both, friends with benefits – the author had the characters revealing all sorts of ways these three love each other. The result is a depth of being, friendships that survive as each of them grow in their careers, in their lives and as they follow their dreams. Unfortunately for one of them, their dream is about to turn ugly.

That’s when the darkness shows up. The author explored that twisted, deviant and debasing period of Kyle’s life when he had to take a stand for what he believes in, and pays the price. I won’t mince words. Those scenes with the villain disturbed me. I want to warn readers of a few scenes during one of the early pivotal points in the story. I believe they can be classified as torture and rape. I thought about labeling it as forced seduction but the recipient fought it, it was against his will and he was angry. But it’s not gratuitous. There is a purpose to the evil deed and an even more powerful revelation and a credit to Kyle’s resistance. It lays the groundwork as to why the villain is so focused on achieving their agenda with the hero as the means to an end. One of the saddest tragedies of the whole story is what this does to his friendship between Shelby and Max. It’s a major conflict which dominoes throughout the rest of the book.

I started connecting to the characters more towards the point when all three were faced with running the gauntlet. It was at that time that I found the best dialogue, the most solid character interactions and the most interesting and fascinating plot points and revelations starting to occur. The pace really picked up for me and I couldn’t put the book down. Clues and facts were falling in place and many left me wide eyed and captivated.

What surprised me was how the author chose to have everyone saved. Although, I’m not sure ‘saved’ is quite the right word. It was actually a kind of bizarre and wild idea to fix everything the way Ms. March did. Some readers might think it over the top and maybe even a bit contrived. I got a kick out of it and in an oddball way found it funny. What are the odds they’d all become friends in the first place and then Wham! they become ‘super friends’? I quite enjoyed that plot twist.

Secondary characters served many purposes, whether they were onscreen a short time or popping up here and there throughout; everyone helped the heroine and heroes get to where they needed to be. I think the world building in the beginning, using the rogues and the indigenous people, was stilted. It didn’t flow well for me at first but I advise readers to stick with it. The author does have her characters emerge from that rocky start in glorious fashion. The secondary characters later on truly enhanced the tale, the plot movement and added extra layers of interest, excitement and enjoyment.

I also enjoyed the exploration of Max and Shelby’s relationship, then Shelby’s and Kyle’s. It became apparent that Shelby is the cream filling between Max and Kyle’s Oreo cookies. Erotic romance fans will have a lot of opportunities to watch them learn to express their love physically.

Defeat the Darkness is not a lightweight read. It packs a punch in both plot and character dynamics. It’s not a book that is stuffed with fluff and sweetness – it’s tart, tantalizing and at times disturbing. It has a solid story line and a complicated romance to go with it which concludes with a fitting happy ever after for the trio. If you like your paranormal romances to have bite, sauce and vinegar, and surprises, then give Defeat the Darkness a whirl. There’s a lot to like.

Ms. Rainier was able to keep all of these characters fresh enough for the reader that when it was time for sexy Patrick and mouthy Beck to man up and accept their changing relationship with Lucy we were cheering and waiting anxiously for these characters happily ever after, which is one of Ms. Rainier’s specialties.

The Divine Creek Ranch series and it’s characters are so entwined and close knit that we still see our favorite characters from practically every book all the while any reader would be able to pick up any book in the series and not feel totally lost. Not many authors can not only juggle the amount of characters after 15 books but also include a cross over with another series/author and still pull it off as beautifully as she has done.

I can’t wait to read more from this author and if you are like feeling as if you’re meeting old friends every time you open a book, then I suggest you pick this up. You’ll feel right at home.

Not surprising, they were both wrong. Enter the one who got away who also happens to be the one who can bridge the missing piece between Ty and Gibb.

I really enjoyed this book but that didn’t surprise me. Everything I’ve ever read of Ms. Redford’s was purely entertaining. The plot isn’t heavy, the dialogue between these three (especially when Ty opens his mouth) is straight up dirty, and there’s just the right amount of heart and story outside the threesome to give it substance and purpose. Kayla’s issues with her mom and later a secondary character built some tension into the story to see how or if their difference would be resolved. While resolution isn’t absolute in this story it did leave an opening to come back to these character later.

I wanted Kayla to be as bold in real life as she was in her writing. It made it all the more sweeter that it was the encouragement of the two men who had loved her forever that helped her see her own worth. This isn’t a one sided relationship, which was nice. Kayla gives the men what they need to be able to open up and be honest with each. Once they all agree about what they want, be prepared for some serious fire and creativity. If the idea of double-penetration has you feeling a little light headed you might want to reconsider this book but I’d encourage readers to give it a chance. Ms. Redford makes a very good argument for pushing the envelope. I’ll be interested to see what she does next.

Speaking of future books, Ty’s sister Bailey reveals a tantalizing secret towards the end of the book that has me so excited to read the next book. I can’t reveal what but it also had me flipping back through the story to see if there were telling hints that I had missed.

This is going to be a fun little series to read and there are plenty of single characters left over in Wicked Shores (great name for a town, BTW) to keep me coming back for more if Ms. Redford chooses to write their stories. This is one reader who has her fingers crossed! I hope you’ll join me in this quaint little seaside town for all the excitement of friends coming home, families reuniting and love in the most unexpected places.

Brent and Carissa are meant for each other and the chemistry is off the charts. Brent brings out all the crazy repressed sexual feelings that Carissa has been hiding for so long. There is even a scene with one of Brent’s friends that is very sexy and worked for the story.

I definitely recommend this story for fans of unique shifter stories that are definitely on high end of the sex-o-meter.

It works for them, even if at times I’ll admit it brought me down when I was trying to read for enjoyment. I understood that it was there to add a bit of realism to their relationship but I admit that it was very hard for me to read. Brent and Jared together are perfect for Arin, and their almost telepathic way of communicating was great because they were almost always in sync when it came to Arin and her needs.

The sex scenes were definitely plentiful and in ways more realistic since they took things slow and didn’t immediately jump to full on sex with both men at once. That was appreciated and Ms. Barrymire can write a smoking hot sex scene, I was never left wondering who was where and when. It was all very clear, which is hard to do when trying to keep track of so many people and all of their limbs, but Ms. Barrymire pulls it off seamlessly.

I highly recommend this story, it’s full of hot scenes, lots of the great outdoors and enough internal and external conflict to keep the story moving along.

There were a few times in Two Doms for Vicki I found myself wondering why certain conversations were being held or why there was so much detail about a recipe or something similar. I thought it was because it added to the story in some way, the conversation etc, but it seems it is this authors style to pad out the pages with extra narration and detail. I wasn’t disappointed when it came to the detail in the sex scenes however. These were hot and intense and certainly hit the spot.

If you like ménage a trois books, and if you are already a fan of Melody Snow Monroe’s writing style I am sure you’ll enjoy Two Doms for Vicki.

The story showed the characters self exploration and their realizations for the reader to say. So she didn’t just tell me these things. She showed them to me and that is what I liked about the book. It was exceptionally well developed.

Now let’s talk about the love scenes. Yeah. You know that you want to hear all about that. *Grin* The love scenes were excellent ! Some scenes are played out at Consensual, the BDSM club in town. You know what that means ! Our triad gets busy exploring with some very kinky toys and situations. The storyline includes some playtime in a dungeon where the guys punish their submissive using some kinky toys from their bag of tricks. They go hard core in some situations, with floggers, crops, and more than a few unique items of interest. The nature of the story means that there was some anal play, and a couple of steamy three way sessions as well. So if this bothers you to read then you may need to stay away from this one. For me it was fantastic and very well done.

I like the author’s writing style and the way she tells her story. It was strong storytelling. The plot was good. The story line flowed just right and the new series was set up nice and neat. There was a suspense element that kept things moving along. It had a twist that was totally unexpected and a villain who was a piece of work.

The series is set in the town of Sanctuary, Montana where the menage lifestyle is the normal way of life. Done the right way, I think this is a great hook for a series. I’ve read a few series like this one. I felt that this author did a fantastic job in the world building for her new series. She spun a good tale of romance and suspense, while introducing a lot of interesting characters in the story. I was intrigued as I’m sure that they will each have a story to tell. So this first book tells me the story of Aubrey, Riley and his brother Noah. They were an fascinating trio and I enjoyed reading about their journey.

I spent a few hours enjoying this book. Then I wanted more. I met so many interesting characters here. Now I really want to hear their stories. So I will be eagerly waiting for the next book to read. I would recommend this book. In fact, I already have raved to my friends who like the steamy romantic ones too. So I gave it my stamp of approval.

Even though I may not have connected with these characters this story is well written and flows nicely. The sex is hot and I did enjoy seeing the men fight for their love and a relationship with Kyra. I also enjoyed seeing the interaction between all the characters and it was nice to visit with the previous couples as well. This story may not be my favorite but I do enjoy this author and this series. I cannot wait to see what adventure is in store for the next woman to find her fantasy.

There is a nice plot with Laynee’s father trying to kill her and a background plot of sinister things happening with the wolf pack in the background which I think will have a bigger role in future books. It’s an enjoyable read, it’s a pretty typical shifter instant mate pairing, but I still found bits of it very entertaining, especially “seeing” the world through Laynee’s perspective.

The conclusion is the wrap up told from Nick’s viewpoint. Getting into his head was crucial not to mention satisfying because it proves without a doubt that this blended family was strong and healthy and it provided the perfect happy ever after ending.

It’s the journey that makes reading The Glass Knot such an entertaining read. The part that stands out for me is the seduction of Josh. Ms. Harlem paid attention to details like their eyes, breathing, how certain body parts were affected and her choice of words to describe and show the progression of Josh’s introduction to man/woman love was scorching in its intensity and clarity. It’s the highlight of the whole book.

How the author chose to explore human emotion, passion and the problems it can cause when it’s overwhelming was also a testimony to quality writing. It’s a sticky wicket when trying to balance and mesh a potential new love in with an established way of being and living. I think Ms. Harlem handled that whole process well. People make mistakes and having the courage to stand up and be accountable takes a certain level of bravery many people lack. I enjoyed how the author had her characters handle it.

I liked the chemistry between all of the protagonists. My only complaint has to do with Laura. As much as she claims to be handling her life and doing well, I didn’t find that believable at all. How she handled the water debacle in her residence did not impress me. In fact, it made what Josh and Nick did perfectly reasonable. I’m of the impression that if they hadn’t come into her life, Ms. Laura was going to experience an epic failure and a serious blow to her self-esteem. She came across as a wimp and a ditz. As much as I kind of understood her ire when the men acted like over chivalrous knights, they were justified in their actions. I believe those scenes with Laura and that particular crisis point was the only thing I wasn’t happy about in the whole book. The saving grace was the men’s ability and willingness to communicate. In that, the story line was true to life.

For readers who look for quality ménage descriptions, actions and variety of sensual pleasures, Ms. Harlem delivers. The Glass Knot isn’t a story about sex with little reason; it’s a story that gives a reason for the sex. It’s the best one – love. Josh, Nick and Laura do explore their budding love in all ways physical but in each encounter a reader sees their bonds and connection grow and strengthen. That is when passionate and explicit love works – when the emotions are truly involved and the reader is vested in those emotions. Ms. Harlem was effective in capturing that and sharing it with her readers.

The Glass Knot is everything an erotic romance should be. Readers are getting a treat when they choose this book because the story and romance is solid. I’m glad I read it and credit Ms. Harlem for providing me a wonderful reading experience.
