This is my first foray into the world of Cooper McKenzie. I’d heard great things and wanted to know for myself. I wasn’t disappointed. This story is hot! Although it’s only thirty-one pages, there is a lot going on. The heat starts on page one and doesn’t let up until the very end. The characters are realistic and interesting, but I wanted to know more about them. What made them tick? What was the incident that helped Alaina to come out of her shell. I wanted to see her working on the quilt (or not) and how she dealt with it in the moment.

The sex and play scenes in this story are hot, hot, hot and will keep you squirming in your seat, I guarantee.

And Gage? He’s a little rough around the edges, but very much sexy. I wanted to see him in person. I loved his inner struggle. He wants her, no doubt, but when things get deeper than he wants… its nice to see him squirm a bit. He wants to love her, but how does a somewhat prickly, forthright guy admit his feelings? Hey, you need to pick up a copy of this book to find out.

The sex scenes are steamy. I had to check my screen to make sure it hadn’t melted. Yeah, these were scenes I went back and read over again to savor.

Michelle Houston writes intriguing shifter stories. Not only does she twist the boundaries, she makes new ones that are fabulous. In her stories, the shifters can’t heal by shifting. That makes it worse. I loved it because it made her book unique. I also loved that Scott cared for not only the little baby bunnies, but all animals. He’s a genuine, all-around hero.

I know when I read a story by Desiree Holt, it’s going to be hot. Add in the element of Allie Standifer and the story blazes. I felt like I was right there on the little cul-du-sac with Kasey and Skyler, taking part in the voyeurism and loving every moment.

I liked the idea that Jason had a gift he really didn’t want, but needed. All those metal/industrial/Goth type bands who pay oodles for pyrotechnics and Jason can do them all on his own. How cool. Julian was a conundrum, though. I liked his dark mystique, but I wanted him to show up more fully a tad earlier. I felt like he was almost left out, and forced to watch as a penance, but I understood why he held back. The guy, though a vampire, has been hurt in the past and like all of us, is a tad cautious. Who could fault him that? Not me.

If you want a book that will, pardon the pun, suck you in from the first page, then you need to read or listen to Blood and Fire. I give this story 4.5 cherries.
