Some may be offended by the overt, emotional religious words for or against certain faiths. Christianity is set against Judaism, at first in a good light then in a poor light—depending on one’s point of view.

The writing is up-close and realistic, enough so that readers can feel the emotion of the actors. The author drew on primary source material, adding to a feeling of authenticity. Reading the actual words of Luther is a fair treatment of this history. One can read this and make a determination about how to feel. For those who only know the basic history of The Reformation, reading this will shed more light on the situation and may change feelings.

Suspense is built because the main characters have changed over the years. But has their love for each other died? Can it possibly be revived, and if so, how will it be expressed between two people who are now so different? And what will become of the children they are trying to help?

The complications, of course, add intrigue to the story, and the author resolves them beautifully. There are enough twists and turns in this novel to keep readers guessing.

As for the style, Finn and Vivi’s story is written clearly with emotionally-provocative language. The dialogue truly helps readers to understand motives. The subplot gives an urgency to the characters’ cause and brings out their best.

This is a quite enjoyable story written by a talented author. I would recommend this book to those who love historical romance.

Unusual characteristics of both women are quite extraordinary, and this makes for a thoughtful tale. It’s a sweet romance between women who are also friends and well worth the read. I recommend the story for a quick and satisfying venture into romantic territory between characters who truly respect each other.

The good parts of this realm are magical, and the author has done well completing a multi-faceted place.

Continual suspense and questions yet to be answered wrap themselves around the adventure. Readers get some of those answers in this first part—more is to come! When this part of the story is over, readers are likely to want to pick up the second. What is to become of Webb and Sundown? Where did their Uncle go, and how did the siblings die?

This is an enjoyable, coming of age…of sorts…story. The likable Webb and Sundown discover more about themselves, their weaknesses and their latent talents, giving a dreamlike touch to the whole tale.

With interesting characters that readers can like and a cliff-hanger, this short piece is a good fantasy story and sets up the next adventures well.
