What complicates things is the fact that perhaps someone she likes might be involved. An interesting secondary cast gets introduced, one-by-one, adding plenty of people to suspect.

Charm accidently discovers that she has an amazing gift. Will this come in handy? It’s great seeing this gift in action, and serves to fill out her characterization. She has other gifts as well, which she will use to try to solve the case.

Eventually, Charm finds herself face-to-face with the killer. Will she get out of this alive and be able to continue to help people?

The theme of suspense against the mood of urgency is enhanced with a dash of humor. Throw in yummy treats, and you get good, escapist reading.

This story is the first in a series and is a worthy introduction to the other books. The characters and the town are intriguing and different, yet cozy. Cozy mystery readers who like a little magic mixed in are sure to enjoy this one.

It’s engaging how the author ties a mystery from the past to the mystery the police and the FBI are currently trying to solve. A researcher of historical crimes is on the scene, knowing in her gut that if she unlocks the keys to the past, she might be able to add valuable information to the investigation happening now. Not only are two parallel investigations unrolling, which are fun for the reader to follow, but when ghosts appear with a message, one has to wonder what part they ultimately will play. There is a dash of love-story blended into the mix, for fans of romance, but it is not the focus. It, like the other elements in this eclectic tale, is well done.

Though this is a part of a series, it is a stand-alone story and is completely understandable if one has never read any of the other books. It’s an entertaining read, and I would definitely seek out other books by this author because she does a good job with characterization, plots, and setting.

Too bad the couple didn’t speak honestly earlier though. This story is about learning to love again (the same person). Because it’s nicely tied into the first story, it gives the reader a great glance into the lives of the earlier couple.

In Autumn Leaves readers get a peek into the lives of Bronwen and Miss Mayhew, governesses. Bronwen reads a fairytale to the children under her care that holds parallels to what is happening in her life. She has an old friend from her past, the handsome Nick, that she runs into in the park. There are dashes of humor that inspire smiles. Nick is now living in a different world then Bronwen. Should she dare hope anyway? And what about Miss Mayhew? The author does some clever maneuvering to give these ladies their happy endings.

Snow Broth is the winter story of Marjorie, who makes new friends in an interesting and unexpected way. She falls for one in the group then discovers he’s engaged to another of her new friends. She is a young lady with old-fashioned morals, from the country, and is intrigued with her city friends, until they do something to offend her sense of right and wrong. Marjorie, due to her morality, fights her feelings for Beau, a promised man. The ending of this tale offers a surprise, and the tender emotions are written by the hand of an expert.

A Love for All Seasons is a great way to tie up the loose ends while adding new insights into the love of an established couple. There is a wonderful tie-in to the other stories and characters in this last story, and readers get treated to another point-of-view, seeing incidents they saw before but through another’s eyes. All in all, this is a novel well worth the read, a fun and fast-paced book.

John is just a regular guy and while hiking one day stumbles and falls. He doesn’t realize he died, but he ends up in a parallel universe. There he meets up with his long dead brother and a group of scientists on a mission to reach the original universe. Seems good, at first. Then trouble starts. Seeing how John deals with corruption, readers are likely to find him to be an admirable character.

There are many clever parts to the story, as when John has to deal with the mundane in this different world. The differences are well-thought out. There is adventure involved as John and his new colleagues must explore an earth a bit different than the one John came from. Hard decisions must be made. Surprises and action keep things unpredictable.

There are a lot of grammatical errors and a lot of telling vs. showing, all of which could be fixed by a good editor, but it’s an imaginative story. When John goes to yet another new place, which is better than the first foreign world he visited, he compares it to his own earth. His world falls short in many areas. Strong opinions about his world pepper the story. There is a lot of discussion of his new utopia, and many good ideas are presented. However, some are really an invasion of privacy, such as sensors reading your emotions.

Overall, this inventive tale provides food for thought while bringing readers along on a sci-fi adventure.

She and Mattea go back to the Medieval Muslim world and meet a great leader’s wife in search of a “relative,” a rogue agent. The woman has interesting things to say to them, enhancing the mystery. They run into interesting people and have some wild adventurous escaping trouble. Then they go to two other remote places. Readers are treated to a taste of exotic cultures they may know nothing about.

Even within these adventurous settings though, the characters go about their business in a realistic way; having to deal with such time-foreign situations has its own set of logistical problems. It’s a bonus learning about some ways to survive without modern conveniences in a wilderness.

A little mystery is woven into the larger mystery, making for a good, complementary subplot. Is Wilda meeting the same woman in different times and places? And if so, will this be significant? Some moral dilemmas come up when Wilda and Mattea travel back in time. How will they handle these

There are scary moments, funny moments, and tender moments, and the boundaries of friendship are tested. The characters, the settings, and the plot all make for quite an entertaining story.
