I have to first say that I enjoy Dahlia Rose as an author, her style of writing and the way she weaves a story always grabs the attention from the start. This story with its theme of good versus evil started off a little slow but it soon caught fire. You felt the hatred Caim had for his plight especially when he had to collect a soul, or deal with the other Demons who taunted him.

When reading a story such as this, or any story, you as the reader want to be able to identify with the characters in the book or feel what they’re feeling. Dahlia Rose did just that with this story. You felt Caim’s disgust when he had to collect a soul or had to go to the underworld when summoned. You also connected with Bliss’s feelings for him and her desire to help him redeem himself.

The supporting characters in the book helped to round out the story, and the possibility that Caim may not be forgiven and given a second chance was always there. Darkest Joy (Dark Love 1) is the first in a two-part series which should be read. It is enjoyable and uplifting.

When he saw Calida, he knew right away that Calida was his soulmate. The fact that she didn’t believe in soulmates was challenging but he knew that he had to convince her of it.

I like the character of Tiarnan, he was a fighter and he had a deep love for Calida. Calida on the other hand loved him but was jealous of his relationship with another. After a while, her whining about it was annoying and for me it took away from the joy of the story. I don’t find nagging, whiny female characters engaging.

The story itself is a good one, and it should be read. As I said this is the fifth book in the series and it can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend that you start with the first book Keeper of the Stars and work your way through the series. That way you have a good idea of who all the characters are, and what their strengths are. Aliyah Burke has written a very good series and it will surely entertain you.

Out of all the six books in the Astral Guardians series, I have to say that I enjoyed this one the most. Dracen Lloyd is fierce, strong, deadly, and she didn’t show fear. However, there was a vulnerability within her that the author brought out which drew you into this character. Lucas Kyle brought that vulnerability out of her which made his character the perfect complement to hers. He was strong as well, never one to be left behind when there was a fight pending. The love that developed between these characters was rich and even though Dracen did not want to admit it, she loved Lucas. I loved how throughout the series the author Aliyah Burke kept her female characters strong, because I never want to read a story with a weak simpering female as the main character. The male characters were just as strong and they stood toe to toe with their mates, especially in battle.

I really loved this story, once you start reading you don’t want to stop. All of the books in this series were good, each one showcasing the different powers and strengths of each guardian. This is a series that should be read from the beginning starting with the first book Keeper of the Stars and ending with Moon fire. That way you can get to know each character and the struggles they went through to find their mates and their artifact. Aliyah Burke has written a strong series that I can see myself reading again.

The other characters in the book complemented one another and reading the other books in the series helped to enhance this story. Aliyah Burke is one of my favorite authors; she is a story teller, she creates stories that capture your attention from the first paragraph. Her female characters are strong and the men that fall for them are their complete match in all things.

Dex and Aminta was like that, they complimented one another and when he found out what she was he embraced it even though he didn’t completely understand it. That alone made me root for this couple.

This is book four in the Astral Guardians series; it can read as a standalone however I would suggest that you start with the first book which is Keeper of the Stars. That way you can become familiar with all the characters and won’t feel lost.

Branded by Frost is a must read, between the helicopter rescues, the demon fights and the love story between Dex and Aminta, and it is a true love story, you will have many hours of pure entertainment.

Goal: A Mate is the second book in the Bachelor Auction series by author Selena Illyria, the first one being Mate Not Wanted. Each book is a standalone however in my opinion the first book should be read simply because the characters are referenced in the second book. I enjoyed this book and the characters of Brandon and Kelly, but I must say that my favorite character was Reenie, Brandon’s older sister. She was quick with the comebacks, was no nonsense and cracked jokes when she was nervous which had me chuckling.

There were a few typos which was a distraction because I had to reread the line again to understand what the character was saying. Other than that the story was entertaining and I look forward to reading the third installment in the Bachelor Auction series. Hopefully it will be Reenie and Alberto’s story.

The character of Calita was strong and she didn’t take nonsense from anyone, since she really didn’t believe in stuff like that, she actually thought he was transgender. After all he did wear a skirt and dressed like a woman. I enjoyed Calita because she didn’t bite her tongue, she told off his parents when they came to try and bully Pink into leaving with them. I also like that she gave him a closet as his office and told him that she would tell him when he could come out of the closet. There were a few humorous tongue in cheek moments in this book like that one which helped make the story flow nicely.

Pink is definitely a cute story, it is short but you do get a sense of who the characters are and you root for Pink and Calita to find their way to each other.

However, once Kaden found out the things Aimee did with Van, he wanted to recreate it and embellish on it

The characters of Aimee and Kaden as well as Van and Tonya helped create a story that was interesting and enjoyable. Nichelle Gregory created characters that pulled you into their story and made you root for them. There was a little Dom/sub action going on with all four characters which was entertaining but never fully fleshed out. We got a glimpse of the role Tonya played as a submissive to Kaden, and also the same with Aimee and Van. Kaden made Aimee describe what she and Van did and then he recreated it with her; however he never said what he and Tonya did.

Also, I couldn’t quite understand how Van went from being in love with Aimee and willing to be a part of a threesome because he just needed to be near her, to dating Tonya. There was no explanation and knowing how hurt Aimee was with Kaden cheating with Tonya why would Van date someone who hurt the woman he professed to love? Also the ending of the book was abrupt and left a lot of questions unanswered.

Soul Fire is a good story to read, it will leave you with questions but it will also show you how two people who think they know one another can come to realize that there is always more to learn.

It is also a love story and despite the fact that they are now related by marriage, Oliver and Serene want to take their relationship to the next level. I enjoyed Soul Temptation because of the many layers the story has. It is a good story, somewhat slow in some areas and it could use better proofing, but all in all it was a very good read.
