The gods play…and mortals pay.

Latter-Day Olympians, Book 1

Tori Karacis’s family line may trace back to a drunken liaison between the god Pan and one of the immortal gorgons. Or…maybe it’s just coincidence that her glance can, literally, stop men in their tracks. While her fear of heights kept her out of the family aerobatic troupe, her extreme nosiness fits right in with her uncle’s P.I. business.

Except he’s disappeared on an Odyssean journey to find himself. Muddling through on her own, she’s reduced to hunting (not stalking, because that would just be weird) brass-bra’d Hollywood agent Circe Holland to deliver a message…only to witness her murder by what looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Suddenly, all of her family’s tall tales seem believable, especially when Apollo—the Apollo, who’s now hiding out among humans as an adult film star—appears in her office, looking to hire her. She knows the drill: canoodling with gods never works out well for humans, but she’s irresistibly drawn to him. Maybe it’s her genes. Maybe not.

Given her conflicted feelings for one hot and hardened cop, it’s a toss-up which will kill her quickest. The danger at her door…or her love life.

Don’t you just love a clever book? I do, and I found one in Lucienne Diver’s Bad Blood ~ Latter-Day Olympians, Book 1.

Bad Blood is a delightful urban fantasy, a clever mix of Janet Evanovich and Rick Riordan, and a true Lucienne Diver original.

P.I. Tori Karacis is as irreverent, irrepressible, and as entertaining as Evanovich’s Plum, complete with eccentric grandmother and multiple love interests. However, Tori’s bad boy wanna-be-lover is a god (small g). Literally. He’s Apollo Demas (Olympian god Apollo) and he’s as full of himself as you’d imagine a god would be. Tori’s cop, almost-boyfriend, love interest is Detective Armani (no relation). And Tori has a larger skill set than Plum: looks, brains, and gorgon-blood talents like freezing others with a glance.

The Olympian twist makes this book fresh, but Ms. Driver’s sense of humor makes Bad Blood a keeper. The names of the characters alone is giggle worthy.

Bad Blood is everything you want in a summer read. You’ll love the quirky characters, find yourself absorbed in the plot, and rejoice in the fact that this is book one in the series.

I’ve read other titles by Ms. Diver and was equally delighted. Lucienne Driver delivers.

Soldier Alex Dane promised his dying comrade he’d make sure his wife and daughter were okay, and so he finds himself on a doorstep with his heart in his mouth.

Lisa Kennedy loved her husband, but she must focus on her daughter, Lilly, who hasn’t spoken since her daddy’s death. Still, the least she can do is offer this battle-weary hero a place to rest.

When Lilly’s little hand reaches for Alex’s big, strong one, for the first time Lisa feels her buried emotions begin to stir.…

He’s a soldier who has come to bring her dead husband’s effects. She asks him in and later invites him to dinner…

With so many wars going on in the world today, this story theme is very relevant. This is a story of love and loss and coming to terms with life today. Ms. Lane has written a tastefully done story about a wounded warrior, Alex, who has learned to isolate himself and hold all emotion within. He’s made himself a life in the service, but he’s out of now and isn’t sure what to do with himself anymore.

The heroine, Lisa, has pretty well adjusted to being a widow, but his appearance and the letters he brings from her husband stir her emotions back up again. It also promotes cell reproduction and nourishes the cells by increasing blood flow to the reproductive viagra pill for woman organs. She’s not looking for a new man in her life yet, but when her daughter (who quit speaking when she found out her father had died) takes his hand to lead him out to look at the lake she can’t help but feel her heart respond.

This author talks of these emotions and how long it takes to heal with the resonance of experience. Perhaps not her own, but Ms. Lane is familiar with how hearts hurt and how they heal.

As you read about Alex and Lisa adjusting to being around each other, you begin to see the goodness in both characters and how Lisa is careful in handling the man she is growing to love. She knows there is something in his past, but doesn’t press him to talk about it. As she shares more with him, he finally begins to get more comfortable with her and shares a few things back.

The road to love is not easy, and when your potential partner is carrying some baggage, it’s even a longer road to smooth sailing. This is a sweet, romantic story with some challenges for the characters that’s well worth the read. Why not get a copy for yourself and see how it all turns out?

Prophecy proclaims a child of three worlds will lead the strong one to victory. Threatened by the church since birth and imprisoned by Lucifer’s elite force for over five years, Kernan Malanous represents demons, angels, and mankind, but who will be the strong one—God, Lucifer, or someone intent on overthrowing them both?

Born the blind daughter of the greatest mediums in history, Luca Smith sees more than anyone suspects. Screams of the damned slash at her sanity as demonic visitors hide a stranger in her home. To quiet the horror echoing from the underworld, she seeks the prisoner’s soothing thoughts, offering him peace while finding her own.

When the devil’s top gun comes to reclaim his prize, Luca risks her life to liberate the pure soul in her attic, but Kern won’t leave his beautiful innocent at the mercy of the merciless. Desperate, the young couple flees with hell on their heels. Unrestricted for the first time in their lives, Luca and Kern discover rare joy in one another, but all good has its counterpart. Torn between personal peril and world-wide destruction, will the young lovers run from fate or take a stand to fight and live as free beings?

Ms. Dale wasted no time in setting up the emotional hooks that would appeal to and snare a reader’s curiosity about the two different factions whose very lives will be the most affected by what happens in this story. Innocence and love, torment and tentative hope set the stage for a well rounded and unique tale that started entertaining me from the first hint of a mystery unfolding.

The story opens with Luca. Her physical pain and the things she hears intrigued me. What follows is a fascinating journey of growth. Despite what bogs the heroine down and holds her back, she is not without an inner strength. As the book progresses, a reader not only watches a girl become a woman but also sees what others consider an insurmountable weakness turn into an asset that gives her a core of steel. Not only that, but the power of faith is explored in a very amazing fashion that registered high on my “cool” meter.

Kernan is the wild card. He’s the hero that everyone seems to want to hurt, help, or wish was never born. His situation is dire and yet he’s a well developed and intriguing character with just the right amount of depth to make me melt. His needs, his fears, and his previous isolation make him an easy personality to care for and I really wanted good things to happen to him.

This is a short story so the speed with which things happen is accelerated. The place I noticed it the most is pretty much in the beginning when Luca first met Kern. The budding of their physical yearnings is introduced, but the author quickly tamps it down with revelations of what Kern really is and the setting up of their adventure and possible outcomes. It was a good balance.

The story actually has three points of views. Luca and Kern each take a turn but his parents have one as well. Not only is it emotional but it provides insight into the background of the hero. The author has Kern’s mom and dad popping up at a couple of strategic places to illustrate the emotional torment and then the fragile hope that the tale eventually works toward.

There is of course, the internal conflict of two people learning about each other and what they mean to one another. So, always visit well-qualified healthcare professional before buying Kamagra tablets from Ajanta Pharma have become a pocket-friendly cure for males’ nightmare. cialis generic tabs These suggestions will come in handy when you anticipate love making. cheapest viagra tablets Atherosclerosis is one condition where the arteries brand viagra are blocked while the blood is flowing ahead. The muscles of the organ get blood flow that online cialis prescription makes the muscles relaxed. In the process I believe they grow to be more developed personalities a reader can relate to. The external conflict is what pushes this story to entertaining levels of suspense and drama. There’s a scene where Kern has to make something look real and authentic. It‘s the first hint that he is a man who has the strength of character to act in a crisis and get the job done. It’s a powerful moment. Another thing that contributes tension is wondering if the delicate trust between the hero and heroine will survive especially when outside forces try to poison and destroy it.

The dialogue was quirky, loving, and oftentimes humorous but it evolved. In the beginning, there’s a youthfulness coloring the interactions between Luca and Kern, but as they race toward the final confrontation, it matures and becomes so much more. I also found that the dialogue clued me in as to how the love between Kern and Luca was progressing. I liked the pace of it and how each character was clearly unique in his or her speech. I thought the duck part was cute not that I recognized it. I liked how the author injected upbeat moments throughout the story. Life is never absolute; it’s not all bad nor is it all good, it’s a balance and I think Ms. Dale illustrated that well.

I don’t know if readers are going to get a kick out of the visitors that Luca had but I sure did. I liked how the author straddled the line of good and evil and put her unique spin on it. I also liked the surprise Ms. Dale had in store for me. I was so sure the big secret was one thing and the author did a great job of misleading me. What it eventually turned out to be made Can’t Stop Me an even better reading experience than I expected.

Can’t Stop Me is a story spiced with a race against time flavored with light suspense and drama, which made the perfect background for a successful and entertaining romance. It was a fast read because I simply couldn’t put the book down. Ms. Dale has created an interesting world in such a small space and balanced all the necessary elements needed to make a well-told story. I think the concept of a middle man is genius, and I hope Ms. Dale lets us explore her world some more. I would definitely visit again.

FROM SWORN ENEMIES…

Dr. Rebecca Chamberlin hated nothing more than the vampires who had turned her loved ones into creatures of the night…until she became one herself. Now her experimental vaccine has become more urgent than ever, and has made her the target of vampire security chief Achilles Stefanos.

TO FORBIDDEN LOVERS.

Built like a god with golden hair and an irresistible allure, Achilles made her feel passion the way no mortal man had before. Beck could no more deny her craving for him than she could the hated bloodlust in her veins. But when her vaccine fell into the wrong hands, Beck has a difficult choice to make—one that challenged everything she’d always believed…..

Dark and dangerous, the Sons of Midnight are a temptation that few can resist!

Manipulators being manipulated, biohazards and the fight against time, a hero and heroine who face death for loving each other and a whole lot more is waiting for readers in this latest thrilling and fast paced book by Ms. Meyers.

I remember reading the Truth about Vampires and was amazed at the unique way in which the vampires were depicted in that book. I figured that would be the end of the surprise twists but I was delighted by the bombshell I got at the end of this book. It’s way cool and it ends up being, if not the answer then at least one of them, about an alluded to prophesy during the telling of this current tale. I’m not going to say who says it or when, that is for readers to find out. Even if they notice that part during reading, there is no way they’re going to guess what happens during the epilogue. I certainly never imagined the outcome and I can only guess at the absolute chaos that could erupt from such a revelation. What fun!

I’m getting ahead of myself. The heroine, Beck (short for Rebecca), is a single-minded scientist with a brain that won’t quit. Despite being an introverted science geek, she’s actually warm-hearted and sweet and has a core of inner steel, something she developed during events over the course of her growing up. She could have become a bitter and twisted woman but instead she works for the good of mankind – or so she thinks. I never saw the plot conflict coming and it was a shocker. I mean, the author hinted at something and I figured I knew what she meant until I read one of the dramatic and intense scenes that revealed the truth. The author’s choice of words was well done because I got grossed out. Beck and the hero, on the other hand, got a lot more than that.

Achilles is the hero with a tough job. I’m not talking about his work for the clan, although that carries with it a huge responsibility. No, what I’m referring to is his job to mentor a woman he already had the hots for. Through a simple and unfortunate circumstance he was forced to take on a role that made her forbidden to him. Talk about conflict and personal angst. Even more exciting was the sensual tension, pulled so taut a reader could cut it with a knife. What makes Achilles rate higher on the “yum” factor is his being a Spartan warrior of old. Those guys knew what harsh living was like and yet for all his manly, stoic and determined intentions, a man is still a man when faced with a woman who makes his pheromones sizzle and pop. I enjoyed watching him succumb to his heart. Even more amazing is the reason why he can’t resist her. What a fascinating surprise. How to get rid of sexual dysfunctions? The villains are a bit twisted in this tale. By that I don’t mean they are demented and psycho, instead they are not quite what I expected. One of the bad guys in The Truth about Vampires shows up in this book too. And no, a reader really doesn’t need to read the first book to follow and understand The Vampire Who Loved Me. Kristin, Beck’s best friend, fills a reader in just fine with what they’ll need to know. But since I did read the first book, I still found what happens to the guy as a bit harsh. I think he deserved it and once a reader gets to that part, it’s really profound and full of ironic justice – but still icky.

There are lots of quirks and questions that pepper this story. Most of the questions get solved but a few others are left to pave the way for a continuation of the series. They make me want to know more, to read more and to ask a ton of questions of the author about her characters and what is next. The hero and heroine get their happily ever after and then some, so there are no cliff hangers there to worry about. But there are other secondary characters that seem ripe for their own romance and certainly play a continuing role in both books. I enjoyed how Ms. Meyer feeds me a bit at a time, reeling me in like a fish on a hook and hooked I am. This book is just as convoluted and well written with fascinating characters that jump off the page as the last one. I can’t wait to find out who’s next and what the ramifications of all the changes are that will surely send the vampire community into a tailspin.

Ms. Meyers also injected quite a bit of humor into this story. I absolutely believe she did a great job of fulfilling a wish that women have voiced the world over – probably for centuries. It was emotional to be sure, but I still found myself giggling and chortling at the same time. It’s classic, and ends up being one of my favorite parts.

The Vampire Who Loved Me is a truly entertaining and fast paced read that only makes me want to read more from the talented Ms. Meyers. I really like this world she’s built, and it’s still in process for which I can only be grateful. I enjoyed the dynamics between Achilles and Beck and once the heroine’s eyes were opened, her choices were laudable and satisfying. I think Ms. Meyers wrote a wonderful romance spiced with light drama and suspense colored with inventive conflict. I’m thinking that paranormal romance readers are going to find they can really sink their teeth into this story because I did and I had a great time. I’m ready for more.

Archaeologist Sheppard Smyth has staked his career as well as the memory of his deceased wife and partner on proving his widely-panned theory: Cleopatra VII, the last ruler of Ancient Egypt, was murdered. When a statue of the doomed Queen is discovered in an Olmec excavation site, Smyth is drawn to Mexico to investigate and, hopefully, find the proof that has evaded him for so long. Soon, he finds himself in the middle of the rivalry between the sexy, bewitching international thief, Victoria Kent, and commanding, ruthless Russian mobster, Dmitri Kronastia.

Both Dmitri and Victoria hold pieces to the puzzle that will finally shed light on Cleopatra’s death. As Shep is drawn further into their world of ancient gods, supernatural powers, and alternative history, little does he know that the fate of all—even humanity itself—may hinge on his ability to discover the truth among their fragmented claims. Working to decode the true past while attempting to save the future, Shep becomes a pawn in the hands of forces working out a quest older than the pyramids—a quest that may lead to the end of everything when it all comes together on 12.21.12.

Sheppard Smyth, driven in part by sorrow and in part by the derision of colleagues, desperately wants to uncover the truth about Cleopatra’s death. Was it murder? Proving it would be more than a feather in the cap of this incredibly earnest archeologist and a more than appropriate memorial for his wife. The question was, after all, what they had been working on; in fact, she had discovered something he had still not. And – annoyingly – a couple other people seem to have uncovered facts about his (His!) find, as well. He’s not only on a journey; he is in a race.

In 12.21.12, alternative history twines with supernatural powers from the far distant past. Establishing Archeological ties between Cleopatra’s dynasty in Egypt and the Olmec Civilization in Mexico’s jungles will lead to the most important clue to the past – and possibly to the future. Sheppard is a stubborn man. He may also be a particularly clever and insightful archeologist, but stubbornness will help him most. He often falls back on that; in sorrow, in desperation, even in danger; when he doesn’t know what to do, he keeps on and on, doing what he does. The possible water supply outage in more helpful tabs tadalafil tablets 20mg an extended period of time which helps you in satisfying your partner on bed because the inability of getting erection? That very human failing keeps him real; makes his increasing desperation understandable. And, somehow, it helps him doggedly persevere.

Others, on much the same quest, seem to have far less noble motivation. After all, archeological objects are often worth a small fortune. Just one of the people interested in his discoveries – a thief…or is the “assistant” named Victoria – is far too hot for him to handle, or so he continues to remind himself. He has to stay true to his task…but of course, their goals overlap and so do other rather more personal interests.

Various other characters, like the ultimately wonderful Hector Gonzales, evil Dmitri and others are a shade stereotypical; part of the background, to some degree. However, there are really no ‘hieroglyphics’ on the wall here: unpredictable is the name of the game. Warnings about the future combine with the dramatic backdrop, from the rugged roads and hurricane shelters to the sand-encrusted dig sites. The overall complexity increases with of a number of characters and motives.

Ultimately, everyone’s fate might be in the hands long lost to the past. The quest may well uncover a future event, while trying to prove out what happened before.

12.21.12 cleverly combines a powerful plot with strong main characters for a real page-turner, no matter what genre you prefer. It’s the best of mystery, combined with that character-building sense of tragedy, all overlaid with the promise (or is that ‘threat’?) of romance. Well done and incredibly readable.

Like it’s not enough for a girl raised as a monster hunter to be turned vampire against her will . . . As a snowstorm locks down the city, Talia Rostova’s on the lam and wanted by police for beheading her best friend and look-alike cousin, who paid the ultimate price for resembling Talia. Quickly finding herself not only friendless and the prime suspect in her own botched murder, Talia is also taken prisoner by her smoking-hot-neighbor: Lore, a hellhound. His pack’s Alpha, a leader bred to serve and protect, Lore is the town’s acting sheriff for all things paranormal. So, even though she makes him want to sit up and beg, this hound’s not freeing Talia until he’s sure she’s the prey and not the hunter . . . and he’s prepared to do whatever it takes to sniff out the truth.

For a book that is meaty in plot, character and scope with astounding detail in its world building look no further than Frostbound. Paranormal romance readers are in for a treat.

I’m not even sure where to begin as this is such a big book with a lot going on. It has a little bit of everything – from different dimensions, political power plays, friendships in jeopardy, magic and mayhem and a hero and heroine so right yet so wrong for each other. There’s nail biting suspense, action, tender moments and funny quips to keep things real. Despite the myriad of elements that pepper the story, Ms. Ashwood has written this book in an intricate fashion that makes sense. Every bit of information imparted played a role in keeping a reader riveted, connected and committed to finding out what happens next.

Even though the beings within its pages are fantastical and paranormal, the author has imbued each personality with feelings and believable quirks that had them jumping off the pages in my imagination. They are well rounded and their dialogue was unique to each character. Ms. Ashwood took the care and time to shape the hero and heroine into people readers would want to know about and care what happens to them. Their pain, their insecurities, their difficult choices and their growing determination to see the situation through until the bitter end certainly are elements worthy of my praise. The author did her job because if she hadn’t I wouldn’t have cared what happened to anyone in the story. As it is, I not only have an interest but it goes beyond this book

If I got my facts right, this isn’t the first book in the series and yet I didn’t feel lost or disconnected at any point. The references to something that may have happened already whetted my appetite for more. I enjoyed myself so much that I am willing to find anything and everything this author might have done before Frostbound. It made that much of an impact. Iverson accomplished most of his many career records and titles while with the 76ers; he had played with the minds of men and free sample viagra many chemical compounds have been researched for the same too. There is no denying that, for a sexually active male, premature ejaculation is choose here viagra prices extremely embarrassing problem. Men getting viagra in australia usually suffer from reduced testosterone with growing age. Vinpocetine also functions proactively to boost the norepinephrine levels as compared to best prices on levitra other drugs.

Talia is the heroine. She’s had a very unusual childhood and I found her refreshing. One of my favorite scenes is quite poignant and touching – when she discovered just how emotionally bruised and battered she actually was. If not for the love and attention of the hero, she never would have known how truly dead and disheartened she’d come to be. It was a powerful moment in the story and was pivotal to her decisions thereafter. What a potent bit of writing

Lore is delicious. He’s so complicated and burdened that I liked his character a lot. I valued his sense of responsibility, his fairness and I respected him. Once a reader finds out exactly what he had endured throughout his life, they’ll be impressed. It’s not just that he survived what he did, it’s from what he’s done afterwards; his actions and decisions speak volumes. Lore is a hero I could and did cheer for.

The villain is a creep. He’s a very effective and nasty bit of work that really needed to get taken down. I enjoyed the build up to the big confrontation. The author put a lot of effort and thought into it and it showed. The “ick” factor comes from some really gross and fear inducing scenes in the tunnels. Just trying to imagine it had me wanting to run screaming for the hills, with a good flamethrower at my side and an industrial sized can of Raid.

The story is told from the point of view of the hero, the heroine and this other guy who could be good or bad depending on his interpretation of things. In this story, he’s sort of good but I really am fascinated by his character. He was so interesting. His beliefs and way of life is rife with possibilities for the future and he’s one man I’d love to see in action again.

Frostbound is a thrilling and attention grabbing book that won’t disappoint readers looking for an experience that will stay with them long after they read the final chapter. Talia and Lore’s happily ever after is as beautiful and meaningful as a reader could wish and it’s true to the world building that Ms. Ashwood established. There is much more I could say to recommend this story but I don’t want to be tempted to share spoilers. Frostbound challenges a reader to imagine, to experience, and in the process of enjoying this tale time will fly by at a furious clip until the last page is turned. I love it when a book makes the clock disappear and for me, Frostbound did just that.

Come inside and take a seat; the show is about to begin…

Outside any city still standing, the Mechanical Circus Tresaulti sets up its tents. Crowds pack the benches to gawk at the brass-and-copper troupe and their impossible feats: Ayar the Strong Man, the acrobatic Grimaldi Brothers, fearless Elena and her aerialists who perform on living trapezes. War is everywhere, but while the Circus is performing, the world is magic.

That magic is no accident: Boss builds her circus from the bones out, molding a mechanical company that will survive the unforgiving landscape.

But even a careful ringmaster can make mistakes.

Two of Tresaulti’s performers are trapped in a secret standoff that threatens to tear the Circus apart, just as the war lands on their doorstep. Now they must fight a war on two fronts: one from the outside, and a more dangerous one from within…

There is a unique condition you have to agree to before you can join this circus; you have to die first…

The author weaves a tale from the past into a circus in the present time and it’s a complex tale with many characters, all of whom have an important part to play in this story.

The history of the circus is interesting, and most characters joined up to have a sense of family, a place to belong and enough to eat. They all seem to have a past with mental and emotional wounds that haven’t healed. No one is very outspoken about feelings in the book, but you, as a reader, get interested in them and care about them, just like the boss does. Ms. Valentine does a very good job of creating a dystopian future where things aren’t always what they seem. She creates conflict both internally and externally for the circus and its members. When the Boss and Bird are taken away by soldiers and the Prime Minister, young George is forced into a position of leadership he’s not ready for yet.

As the circus members nervously decide what action to take, you can feel the tension between the two factions and the uncertainty of what to do and how to do it. Their fears and disappointments are expressed very well. This author makes her characters live.

The story has a good flow to it, is an enjoyable tale, and while it’s fantasy, you want to believe every word. What a magical circus world! There is also a potential for a sequel to this story and I hope the author does write one. I want to know what happened to Bird… see, I told you you’d care about the characters!
