Nisey’s Awakening drew me in from the start and kept my attention throughout. Dakota Trace has written something that has multiple layers and components that add to the richness of the story and the depth of the characters. Nisey and Caelan, while fantastic, are only two of many people you’ll fall in love with. My very minor complaint is the lack of a full reveal as to what burned Caelan from newbies a year before. You are given glimpses but never the full picture, which was disappointing. I wanted to know what could shake the foundation of such a confident and proud man to the point he would be afraid to reach out to someone who was new to the scene — whether he felt an attraction to her or not.

Aside from this, however, the story is fantastic. Nisey was relatable on so many levels and faces so many obstacles to embrace her submissive side and find happiness. This isn’t a simple story of girl embraces her submissive nature. There is danger involved, especially as the Dom who left Nisey shattered and uncertain returns to dish out his own brand of punishment. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride, full of twists and turns. Of course, Caelan is a Dom you can’t help but admire and adore. His strength, perseverance, and devotion are what allow Nisey to shine. As you watch her emerge from her shell, he breaks free of his own as well. They complete one another in the way only those meant to be together can, and it’s a joy to witness.

I recommend this to everyone who believes that love will find a way to win in the end, but who want the journey to be thrilling and even a bit dangerous before the happy ever after.

He could no longer watch DeMar laugh and be happy around everyone except him.

Does it mean that you have to give up the one you love in order for that person to have a chance at happiness without you? The conflict that exists is something that everyone who has ever been in love has experienced at one time or another. I loved how in the end, both characters had grown through self-reflection and acknowledged their roles leading to the breakup of their relationship. I also loved how the author allowed you into Josh’s mind and thought processes, while leaving you wondering at times what DeMar was thinking.

Ms. Snyder keeps you on edge wondering if each character will be able to communicate and get passed their differences, or if they’ll have to part and go their separate ways. Given the conflict, the ending of the story was realistic and I would love to see a follow-up story for these two characters. The title, Maybe, fits this story perfectly and one could take lessons from Ms. Snyder on how to write a short story that packs a punch and gets down to the heart of the matter. I would definitely buy it and recommend it to my friends.

“Henry and Jim” is a bittersweet short story about a lifetime love affair. These two men who have spent a life in love, from the very first date arranged by Henry’s sister, through the rocky times they worked to make ends meet, and into their twilight years.

Older now, and wiser, Henry reminisces about the love they’ve shared as he learns to cope with Jim’s fading memory and his own fear of being forgotten by the only man he’s ever loved.

Just when I have, once again, arrived at the conclusion that the art of the short story is dead, a perfect, sapphire-bright story like this one comes along to prove me wrong. This is everything a short story should be, tightly written with highly evocative descriptive passages and spare, vital scenes. The author explores one theme and leads it to resolution without wavering, the point of the short story.

The central idea, memory and how it shapes both our lives and ourselves, is presented through Henry’s eyes, scenes of years past alternating with the present day where his spouse of many decades, Jim, suffers from the slow progression of memory loss. (Which could be Alzheimer’s or some other age related dementia, it’s never specified and isn’t crucial.) She shouldn’t care, however, that he doesn’t seem to remember her name or that he keeps leaving as soon as he gets what he wants. They’re just having some fun after all.

Then why is he inviting her to his house? Did he change the rules and forget to tell her about it? The sex must have gone to his head, there is just no other explanation.

Kevin McIntyre is a former pro football player with many fans, including Mia Adams. When the two meet the fun begins. Many adventures await Kevin and Mia.

This story was a very entertaining read. It was funny to see Mia continually bumping into Kevin in the literal sense. From their first meeting on the road to the supermarket and movie theater the two keep bumping into each other and having sex. It seems that Kevin cannot get enough of Mia. Even though she continues to make him angry and crazy at the same time he cannot seem to stop his feelings for her. I found myself laughing out loud at some of her thoughts and actions. It was great to see Kevin trying to sort through his feelings to show them to Mia.

This book is not to be missed. I definitely would love to look for more stories from this author. If you enjoy spunky heroines getting the best of the Alpha males this is the book for you.

Ms. Grey writes a fascinating novella about war and redemption during a particularly dark time. Her characters, though not detailed, are deep enough to capture the reader’s attention. You want these two people to find some sort of solace in the devastation around them. Although I thought the opening scene was a bit rough for some audiences, it added to the realism of the story. Dave is only too happy to tend to those wounds, and in the process finds out exactly why his new lumberjack friend is nicknamed, ‘Woody’.

In this really short, yet entertaining read, a male nurse discovers just how his lumberjack neighbor got the nickname Woody.

Dave and Woody seem to come from two different worlds, but a freak accident brings them together in unexpected ways.
