This one has a plot that is totally different and not what I expected.

I have a read a lot of books where the virgin and nerd is the woman and the gazillionaire or the billionaire is the man. But this is the completely opposite to that. That being the case the author did a very good portraying the characters.

Rachel wants Dr. Theo Moore’s technology or wants to help him develop it. What comes as a surprise is how different these characters are and how well Ms. Sarai depicted them as polar opposites and yet completely compatible.

Theo is a recluse who does not normally venture out into the public. However, he does for the deal between himself and Rachel. The first meeting is where it truly begins to heat up. It starts with attraction between a very intelligent, smart but socially awkward Theo and highly successful and rich Rachel.

This novella was different for me primarily because of the bondage section. How it begins and how it ends wasn’t what I expected at all.

Theo and Rachel’s relationship was in constant evolution in this book. It starts with Theo being the submissive and Rachel being the Dominant in the relationship at first. This changed when Theo realized that he liked dominating and Rachel liked being submissive. Then, the relationship flipped. From that point was where BDSM aspect truly started.

The changes in the relationship roles allowed me to see them move from sexual players to true lovers. Their story has elements of both true love and forgiveness that gave the story a more full body feel than it might have been otherwise.

My only disappointment in this story was how the educational system and the teachers, principal, etc. were so blind to Lindsey’s problems. I realize that in a perfect world they should have been the ones to identify the issue, not exacerbate it. Perhaps the news during recent years of educators abusing children is what the author is trying to bring to our attention. I still hope that the predominance of good educators will outweigh this recent trend and the children will continue to be safe and looked after.

This book is not for the faint of heart. It is raw romance novel but with a double-edged blade. I was deeply moved and absorbed in this story. Great writing!

I loved the suspense element of this one, and the tying in of the real life characters/situations made this book enjoyable.

Amarinda Jones is a new to me author, and she’s one who I’ll read again in the future. If you’re looking for a good romance story with some nice suspense and great, smoking hot sex then this is a book you’ll definitely want to pick up.

In one night of talking, and then combusting, they make a heartfelt connection that is moving.

Ms. Kitt created a witty and intricately crafted modern day adaptation. Unlike other of Ms. Kitt’s stories, the only characters having sex are Eric and Annie and just with each other. Annie and Eric’s first love scene is an exquisitely detailed sensual masterpiece. Oh, and it’s hot! Next when Annie goes to see Eric’s mother, you can see Selena’s “Kitt”-enish claws emerge as Eric’s mother Dita sends Annie on seemingly harmless errands from and to hell. Ms. Kitt’s wit is shown not only by her clever naming of characters, but also her modern recreations of the myth’s tasks. I honestly don’t think you could have paid me enough to do what replaced the quest for the Golden Fleece. Finally, Ms. Kitt melted my heart with Annie’s realization during her last errand. It was just beautiful.

As this is a recreation of a Greek myth, I think it’s important to note this story does not have the standard pacing you’d expect from a romance. This is why I reviewed the original myth at the beginning. It starts and ends with a bang, but the middle is different. In some ways I thought the book could also have been called What I Did for Love.

I devoured this wonderfully creative modernization of the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche. It earns 4.5 cherries.

Things start to unravel when he asks his new girlfriend to spend the weekend with him. When Leah meets her ‘twin’, it’s clear some truths have been left unsaid.

When things are too good to be true, what do you do? Do you make a go for it, knowing you’d always regret it otherwise? What would you do if you knew the man you craved loved another? Would you fight? Would you forgive? Would you… love?

How would you feel if you went to meet your boyfriend’s best friend and his wife and she could be your twin? What if he called you by her name?

This is exactly what happens to Leah in Someone Like You. Leah, a curvaceous college student and waitress, has worshipped ex pro football player Nick Hamilton for years. She’s shocked that he’s interested in her, and not some stick thin model. Nick’s initially attracted to Leah because she looks like his best friend’s wife who he’s been in love with since they shared a ménage-a-trois. Yet he finds something special in Leah he didn’t expect.

I bonded with both Leah and Nick from the start. Leah is more like us than any of us would like to admit. She’s insecure about her weight and thus her body. She’s always dieting and doesn’t believe her fantasy could love her. Nick isn’t a perfect Adonis. He makes mistakes that make him even more loveable. This was the first book I read by Ms. Hillman. Although this was the third book in a series, I followed it well. I think the book might have benefited from a quick prologue that reviewed pertinent information from previous books. My main source of confusion actually came from the fact that this was the third novel in the Ex-Footballer series. In the US we don’t refer to pro-football players as footballers so I thought Ms. Hillman was talking about soccer (what everyone else besides the US calls football). Even with this inconsistency, I enjoyed Someone Like You so much that I will be going back and reading the two previous novels.

If you’re looking for a delightfully engrossing story, Someone Like You is not to be missed.

I liked the fact that both Ty and Jonah had tragedy in their background. Neither felt comfortable moving on with their lives because those tragedies still left them feeling emotionally damaged. It seemed as though if they both could not sympathize with the way the other felt they may not have bonded so quickly. It gave them a common ground and, in the end, enabled both of them to be able to move on — hopefully to be together for a long time.

The sex scenes between these guys didn’t hold anything back, either. They were hot and heavy just the way I like them. That, coupled with this author’s style, is why I have given this story 5 cherries.
