The pleasure of reading a short story is great when you want a little something to read ten or fifteen minutes before bed time or something fast and hot to share with your lover. When I first started reading I thought a few of the sentences sounded a little funny grammar wise, but I soon realized that Diego was Spanish and his English was a little spotty at times which was kind of cute and added a new dimension and flavor to the plot. Lydia, the heroine, was from India and came across as being a sweet and upbeat neighbor. The place where she lived had thin walls so she knew pretty much what went on next door. She was also a smart cookie, knew what she wanted, and was not shy about going after it.

The author had a great idea and did really well in pulling off a nice entertaining tale, but I thought this story could have been dynamite with just a few more details.

For anyone who would like to read a sample of this author’s work for a taste test, this story is a nice start. I think it has just enough devilish excitement between the pages to give you a feel for the author’s writing style, and see a little of her imagination through the written word.

I do enjoy Ms. Lain’s writing style and her unique sense of humor which makes her books stand out in a sea of other publications. She is one author I would recommend to anyone that is looking for someone new to read.

Additionally, a longer story would have allowed for better character development, both primary and secondary. There were some editing errors (missing words, or words out of order) that caught my attention, but overall, grammar, punctuation, and point of view were handled well.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and the characters, I just wished there were a little more to the length and some resolution to pertinent plot points, which would have left me a bit more satisfied with the ending.

When I read the blurb for this short story, I was intrigued. I wanted to know how these two people would manage to get together without someone not making it to the end of the story. I needn’t have worried. Abby Wood packs a lot in a few short pages. And yes, there is a lot going on. The writing flows well and it’s a quick, but steamy read.

That said, there were a couple of things that kept me from enjoying the full potential of the book. While I love a hot story, I want connection between the characters before the sex. It seemed like things happened really, really fast and while fast is good, I wanted more back story as to why things were going as fast as they did. I give the author kudos for keeping a tight tale, but there were more than a few times I wished for more detail. I had to go back and reread to make sure I’d kept up with all that happened. And the banter between Josie and the secondary characters is quite comical at times. I liked the addition of the other G-men members. Oh, and there’s a scene in the woods, that is worth of a fan and a cool drink. You’ve been warned.

What a delight it was to read The Bear and the Bride. It was refreshing and a joy to read, and I found it such a pleasure to soak in a story with such an old world theme. I was in love with the story from the second chapter on. Ok I must confess in the first chapter, I had to stop and look up a few words so I could understand their meaning, but after that, the story was amazing. Even so, looking up words you don’t know is just something that goes along with reading and did not take away from the book at all. The Bear and The Bride is a book that I would recommend to my friends who like romance that isn’t quite as full of really hot and heavy sex scenes.

Xavier’s Way is one of those books that keep you smiling and shaking your head through the whole thing wondering if Xavier will figure who and what he is. Who knows maybe Jordan is what he needs to save not only his business but also the person to take away the bitterness left by his ex-fiancée betrayal and cruel words.

When I finished Xavier’s Way, I could hardly wait to tell all my friends that they needed to read it. This one will definitely remain in my library to be read again. A new and refreshing view on the M/M relationships – it had such a nice flowing plot that made it easy to relax and just enjoy the written word.
