Being held captive for winter never felt so good.

Lili is on her way to her cousin’s wedding when she thinks she hit a man in the road. Leaving the safety of her car to check on him turns out the be a big mistake, and pretty soon Lili is being abducted and held against her will by a super-sexy wolf who her body longs to touch. But just because he’s hot doesn’t mean she’s going to remain a captive.

Cade is not just an alpha, he’s a very wealthy man, used to getting what he wants. So when he attempts to abduct his ex-friend’s fiancé, in an attempt to teach him a lesson, he doesn’t expect to wind up with the wrong woman. Just how did he wind up with the maid of honor? And why does the woman melt every inch of him? But when the woman escapes, real danger awaits. And Cade must convince her to see beyond his deception if he wants to keep her alive.

This was a great book! Maybe a bit shorter than I would’ve preferred, but it was wonderfully written, with absolutely everything that I expect to find in a shifter story.

The story was fast paced and packed with heat. Five years ago, Cade’s fiancee claimed to be having an affair with his best friend. Now that his old friend is getting married, Cade is looking for some payback by stealing the bride before the wedding. His plot goes awry when his packmates grab the wrong woman. Instead of the bride, they kidnap Lili, the cousin and maid of honor. The plan backfires and bites him in the butt, when Cade realizes that Lili is his mate. The chemistry between them was hot and the love scenes fairly sizzled. Alpha Cade is busy scrambling cause he knows that when the truth inevitably comes out, Lili is bound to be hurt. There was also some suspense to the story as Cade’s enemies target Lili.

I enjoyed the humor in this one and found myself chuckling at some of Lili’s antics. How she reacted to the wolves was freaking hilarious. She was a firecracker and not about to be a pushover for anybody. Big old alpha Cade is stunned when she stands up to him, and I enjoyed watching her one-up everybody. As the alpha of his pack, Cade is used to getting his way but his audacious mate isn’t backing down. Now he’s in a tight spot and I loved watching him squirm.

The author did an excellent job of pulling me into the story. I got a few chuckles and was totally captivated by the characters. For a short story, I was surprised at how easily I got caught up in this one. Brilliant writing, I’m sure. I loved the sexy alpha wolf. I loved the sassy heroine. The plot was engaging and has me wanting more. Overall, it was a fun sexy read that I enjoyed immensely. Looking forward to more from Milly Taiden.

I loved it and recommend it to all the shifter fans that are bound to love it too.

Everyone has a bit of a beast inside…

After five years traveling through third world countries to teach impoverished children, Samira Suarez has returned home to Black Meadows. What Sam didn’t expect was to be instantly overwhelmed by the desire to be with the one man she’s wanted since she was a teen, Riel Karven.

Riel has been patiently waiting for Sam’s return. For five long years he’s backed off and watched her come and go. This is it. His mate is back and he’s taking a stand.

Sam’s need for Ry grows to unimaginable proportions. It’s almost as if she were in heat. But she’s a human…isn’t she?

There’s more at stake than Sam and Ry’s future relationship when she inherits her grandmother’s estate. One of her many relatives wants her out of the way.

It’s going to take all of Ry’s determination and help from his friends to keep her alive. And it’s going to take delving into her past to find out why a human is going into mating heat.

What an amazing story! I absolutely loved it. Caged Heat had everything that I look for in a book. Passion, suspense, drama, and some very sexy shifters. You name it, this book’s got it. I was captivated by the steamy love scenes and the thrilling suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat.

After five years of spreading good will, teaching impoverished kids around the world to read, Samira is finally back home. Her beloved grandmother has passed away and left her fortune to Sam. Right away the drama kicks into high gear as the rest of the family are not happy. Threats are made and Sam’s life is in danger as somebody tries to take her out. Making matters worse are the strange symptoms that she keeps having that open up an entirely different mystery. This story was riveting as the suspense kept building and the twists and turns kept coming.

Then Sam hooks up with Riel, the wolf next door who has known all along that she is his mate. He made a promise to her grandmother that he’d wait to claim Sam as his mate. Now that she has returned all bets are off and he will do anything to protect her.

Wow! The chemistry was off the charts between these two. Although the steamy love scenes were plenty, they were written with an emotional intensity so that I never once felt the book was just about sex. Surprisingly for me that it was my favorite love scene, the first interaction they had was a voyeurism scene. Their little peep show was so hot and so well played out that it had me fanning myself. I knew right then that this was an author who knew how to set the stage for amazing love scenes. I was right. The book was loaded with lots of steamy love scenes that had me cranking up the AC.

There was a lot of stuff going on in this book to keep me entertained. The story was full of action . I liked that it contained surprises and I never knew where the story was going. It’s an intense story with some interesting plot twists that kept things moving at a fast and thrilling pace. The author did a great job of hiding the villains identity until the end. To this readers satisfaction the villains get their just comeuppance in the end.

I loved the characterization and the connection between Riel and Sam. The author brought them to life and got me interested in their lives. I felt sad for Sam cause, except for her grandmother, she kinda grew up alone. Her family was so mean to her. So I connected with her emotionally and that is a bonus for me when I’m reading a book. The mystery of her parents …. that was so sad that it made my heart ache. What can I say about Riel? Definitely a true alpha male and so sexy. Just the kinda guy I love to read about. I was cheering him on when he came to defended his woman and handed out some serious retribution. There was also some intriguing secondary characters that I’d love to read about. I’m looking forward to reading Troy and Nat’s book real soon.

I have so many good things to say about this book. I loved it! I recommend it to readers who enjoy a fast paced story that is loaded with suspense, steamy love scenes and HOT alpha heroes.

Can forgiveness survive lies and unspoken truths?

Until Brenda McAllister’s husband committed suicide, she appeared to have the ideal life: a thriving psychology practice, success as a self-help author, and a model family. But her guilt over her affair with Jack’s best friend prevents her from moving on. Did Jack learn of her infidelity? Was she the cause of his death?

The release of Brenda’s second book forces her into an unexpected assignment with arrogant celebrity author CJ Morrison, whose irritating and edgy exterior hides the torment of his own mistakes. But as she grows closer to CJ, Brenda learns she wasn’t the only one with secrets—Jack had secrets of his own, unsavory ones that may have led to his death. While CJ helps Brenda uncover the truth about her husband, she finds the path to forgiveness isn’t always on the map.

Well rounded and believable characters are what make The Hourglass a worthwhile read. The plot is no slacker, either, but it’s the characters that will keep you turning pages.

From the moment I met coffee-deprived Brenda, I liked her. She is strong and determined and I really enjoyed her sense of humor. CJ took a little longer to like, but when he started to open up a bit, I understood what Brenda saw in him. Other characters are involved in the book, but they weren’t as clearly defined. That may be partly due to how sharply I could see Brenda and CJ, so everyone else faded a bit when compared.

I have to admit that having Brenda as an author of successful non-fiction books that focused on relationships stretched my belief system a bit, considering that she’d (almost) had an affair and didn’t realize her husband was suicidal. Still, whether I found that believable or not didn’t really matter, since that wasn’t focused upon, not even in her role as an advisor to CJ for his book. That was more pure psychology than having a focus on interpersonal relationships.

Their chemistry is apparent from the start, even though both spend the first part of the book dating other people. It was interesting watching them come to terms with their feelings, especially CJ as he really didn’t want to feel anything positive toward Brenda.

The mystery of Jack’s death isn’t really a driving force in this book. Its focus is on healing that both Brenda and CJ need to do, and how they do it, and on their relationship. The author does a wonderful job dealing with both things. It’s interesting … the book isn’t edge of your seat exciting, but I was really hooked and read it in just a few hours with very few breaks. I can’t explain exactly why I was so hooked, but clearly the author is exceptionally skilled and knows how to keep a reader entertained.

If you’re looking for a book that will keep you intrigued, even if it doesn’t make your heart pound (but does tug the heartstrings), then I recommend The Hourglass. It’s a book you will read cover to cover and then think about after you’re done.

Her magic breaks all the rules. He breaks all of hers.

Draybeth is broken. Her fairy powers don’t work, her magic is completely dysfunctional, and not even her bad attitude and soft heart can win her back into Fairy favor. Exiled from their land, she struggles to make a life for herself in the human world. But when her bar burns to the ground and she meets one of the Impassables–the devastating Lawman Barrett–things become even more of a struggle. An arrest, murder, and abduction challenge everything she’s worked for, and worse, the Impassable Lawman appears to be her destined mate. But darkness stirs deep within Dray’s heart, and she’s not about to drag the gorgeous lawman down with her.

Barrett never expected to find himself mated to a fairy, let alone one with such a wicked temper and a short fuse. Being an Impassable, he should be immune to fairy magic, but Dray’s magic burns through him like lightning, just as everything else about her ignites him, body and soul. The fairy’s power over Impassables threatens everything this new realm was built upon, and as a Lawman, Barrett’s job is to make sure those threats are eliminated. But his feelings for Dray make him question just where his duty lies.

Dray is a broken fairy. She can’t use any fairy powers and she feels the darkness growing with her. If her father doesn’t kill her, the dark will take her over soon. And then some dragon broad burns down her bar. It looks like her luck has left her, too.

This is the beginning of a new series for Ms. Baker and she’s created a fantasy world that has a lot of story possibilities. What I really liked about this story was the relationship she creates between a broken fairy and an impassible (one who is immune to magic). Fairies and impassables don’t have relationships. So how can he be her mate? Dray and Barrett meet after the fire–he’s a lawman. They both try to avoid each other and deny any attraction. You can guess how well that works.

As you watch the dance between the two destined mates, there is the beginning of another story line being drawn. The author throws in a soul eater that leaves the fairies a burnt out husk. There’s a cop who seems to be on the fairy side. And the fairy king is still determined to kill Dray.

This tale has lots of action and Dray and Barrett face a lot of danger. With so many people trying to kill them, you can’t be sure just how this is going to end. It’s not boring! The author grabs your attention in the first few pages and keeps until the last page. This isn’t the traditional fairy story and I liked that. Why not give the book a try and see what you think?

An alien race. A shocking message…

During an archaeological dig in Greece, Jeffrey Driscoll stumbles upon a miraculous find: ancient crystals with celestial coordinates that will connect humankind with the Kabrini, a highly advanced alien civilization. His discovery leads him on a quest from the jungles of Africa to the Islands of Greece, from the streets of London to the tombs of Egypt, from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles, Jamaica, and Vienna, and finally to the deepest depths of space and Earth’s first global space effort, the Legacy mission.

And this viagra brand online acts as a big time peace of mind to the men out to there who are unfortunately suffering from the disorder. When Driscoll Mining and the U.S. Army complete deep space construction of the Kabrini communications network, the Legacy mission is deemed a success. But a dangerous terrorist group hungers for revenge, and Driscoll will stop at nothing to save the project. As his obsession with the Legacy mission spirals out of control, he risks losing everything—his company, his grasp on reality, and the one thing he’s ever truly loved: his wife. And when humankind finally makes contact, they discover the Kabrini Message isn’t exactly what they expected to hear…

“Everything in the universe is connected.” This is the message from an alien people known as the Kabrini. It is a message that Jeffrey Driscoll longs for. Humans have yearned for contact with alien races from ancient times. The story begins with an eclectic group of friends seeking to make their fortunes. Their adventures start in Moombato Bay, Africa, and their first exploit is full of hilarious mistakes, including mistaking real grenades for smoke bombs. But they do succeed in getting their money. The group’s adventures continue off and on over a period of fifteen years, taking them from Africa to Greece, then to Egypt and London, and finally into space.

J. R. Egles has written an exciting adventure with a lot of humor and wit. Driscoll’s Marauders are almost slapstick in their bungling but miraculously successful escapades. Everything Driscoll does is designed to enable him to discover if there are beings out in space watching him as he has imagined since childhood. When contact is finally made, the alien civilization sends a series of messages and their main question is “How could you possibly have developed the technology for space travel and the ability to communicate with an advanced alien civilization and still be so socially primitive? How can you not care for your own people? Do you not realize that you are all connected?”

Egles has written a fascinating story with a real message for us all. I did find that the time jumps over the fifteen years, going from one adventure to another, were a bit disconnected and many of the characters were not as fully developed as I would have liked. Nevertheless, it was an exciting read, with a good well-paced plot that came together over time. Certainly Driscoll, the main protagonist, moved through the story from the time he was a boy with a single-minded determination, his eyes clearly focused on the stars where he knew someone was watching him.

I enjoyed this novel and I would certainly hope that it finds many readers who take to heart the message that everything is connected.

Sixteen-year-old Nickie Leone has proof that her missing (presumed dead) father is still alive. Receiving his watch in the mail is the first in a line of clues bringing her closer to discovering his whereabouts. But clues aren’t the only new thing in Nickie’s life. There’s the Memorial Banquet her mother insists she help prepare for, there’s the new kid/hottie, Xavian, and…well, the growth of whiskers and a tail!

Filled with secrets and a new love of tuna fish, Nickie must partner up with Xavian (don’t you know he’s a shapeshifter too?) to rescue her dad before she loses him forever. Oh, and she needs to figure out how to be a cat, too.

Nickie’s father has been gone about a year, but she refuses to believe he’s dead. Her mother accepts that; her brother is too young to really have an opinion. And her mother won’t talk about it. Every time Nickie brings it up, her mother changes the subject. When she gets a package and it contains her father’s watch, she knows for sure he is alive!

Ms. Diamond does a nice job with her paranormal story. She makes it sound feasible and believable. Her main female character, Nickie, doesn’t know what she is or that her change is coming soon. The author walks you through the process of making the change and learning about a cat’s behavior. Nickie is a panther and there are lots of new skills to learn while she’s in that form.

Her romantic interest is a hot new guy in the neighborhood, and he’s really into her. She’s not sure why, but he has helped her in a few pinches, so she’s okay with him. Xavian knows why he’s so attracted to her but he can’t tell her. When she finally changes, he’s there with her and helps her overcome her fear of the change.

This is a war between the clans which adds a lot of action, fights, deaths, and more to the story. This author really has a talent for imbuing her characters with life and making you feel empathic toward them. You either love them or hate them, but you’re not ambivalent. The violence and several deaths make this a mature read.

One of my favorite parts of this story is when Nickie develops this overwhelming desire for tuna fish. Now if eating three cans of tuna in a row doesn’t tell you you’re turning a bit “catty”, what will? Why not enter Nickie’s paranormal world and see what she will do to get her Dad back. Would you be that brave?

When Chrissie Marchant first sets eyes on Barton Grove, she feels as if the house doesn’t want her. But it’s her new husband’s home, so now it’s her home as well. Sumptuous and exquisitely appointed, the house is filled with treasures that had belonged to Joe’s first wife, the perfect Emily, whom the villagers still consider the real mistress of Barton Grove.

A stunning photograph of the first Mrs. Marchant hangs in the living room, an unblemished rose in her hand. There’s something unnerving and impossibly alive about that portrait, but it’s not the only piece of Emily still in the house. And as Chrissie’s marriage unravels around her, she learns that Emily never intended for Joe to take a second wife…

Can a second wife ever live up to the untarnished memory of her predecessor?

Chrissie’s life changes dramatically when a whirlwind courtship with a wealthy doctor named Joe ends in marriage. In less than a year she shifts from struggling to make ends meet in a shrinking profession to living in a mansion. She had enjoyed working and isn’t sure what to do with herself now that she has hours of free time each day. Her uneasiness at not finding a new niche yet and disinterest in taking advantage of her husband’s money really endeared me this character.

Unfortunately I never quite understood why Joe and Chrissie chose to get married. Joe is still grieving the death of his first wife, Emily, and is so attached to her memory that at times it almost seems as though he’s married to two women instead of just one. The memory of Emily actually has more say over certain household decisions than his living, breathing second wife! Chrissie’s descriptions of Joe are so sensual that I briefly wondered if she married him for his sex appeal alone. While this is not a romance novel the only time that Chrissie and Joe truly seem to like one another is when they’re sexually or romantically involved. They don’t seem to share any common interests and have poor communication skills and recurring, stormy arguments in their everyday interactions.

Perhaps the atmosphere of the house could partially explain the odd relationship between Joe and Chrissie? My favorite scenes in this book featured mysterious occurrences in a house that has known more than its fair share of grief. Ms. Cavendish subtly wove terror into unexpected places in this story. I never would have guessed something as commonplace as a chair could be so creepy. The final scene in particular sent a river of goosebumps down my arms. It foreshadows the possibility of something sinister but leaves the interpretation of what actually happens up to the reader.

The Second Wife follows many of the conventions of gothic fiction but I was still surprised by Ms. Cavendish’s spin on certain memes. This story is a fantastic choice for anyone who prefers to allow their imagination to inflate certain horrors instead of asking the author to spell everything out in bright red letters.

She snaps and hits out at Caroline who falls to the floor – dead.

Althea is a strong character, despite her conviction she’s not worth anything. Her problems are similar to those of most teenagers but enhanced by her own dark nature. Davis has a similar type of personality although he tends to come across as a bit psychopathic. All the main characters are well defined and the author had me wondering how Althea would cover her
part in her sister’s murder.

At this point I found the story became confusing. However, that could be due to the fact I’m not a teenager. I’m sure that age group would read this with a different outlook on the story than I did. Despite this, I believe Althea’s character was an accurate portrayal of teenage angst and Ms Dotson has told the story with definite insight into teenage life.

New town, new love, new terror…Kicked out by his alpha father for nearly exposing their secret, seventeen-year-old Richard Leone is a shape-shifter without a pride. Alone, homeless, and hungry, he forms a tenuous friendship with Derek, a power-hungry shifter from an unstable rogue pride. It’s either that, or starve. Until they encounter a gorgeous brunette, Molly, partying with friends around a campfire. Richard immediately feels a connection with her, and something about her calls to him. Almost as if she was supposed to be his mate. But when Molly is kidnapped, Richard must take on the entire rogue pride to save her and keep his human town safe from harm. Derek offers him a deal: he’ll help Richard take on the pride to rescue Molly, but only to secure his place as alpha. And once that happens, the humans could be in even more danger…

Richard may be considered old in human years, but for a shifter he is still an immature teenager trying to find his way through life. Then he sees the girl who sends sparks shooting through his veins and makes him want to become the man his father has tried to force him to be for years.

With best price viagra all the generic erectile dysfunction medications at our disposal, such issues can be treated. The plot in the story had plenty of depth and excitement. I really enjoyed Derek’s involvement in the conflict as well as the overall story development. The conflict also helped to introduce other types of shifters, which helped to build the tension to figure out which type would be the alpha or strongest. Richard’s enemies also helped to move the story along well and helped to develop both the personal and romantic growth of all the characters.

While Richard and Molly are good characters on the surface their characterization lacked a certain depth that made it hard for me to fall in love with them. I got a little about what makes Richard tick, but would like to have understood his internal process throughout the story. This would have allowed me to appreciate his development a bit more. With Richard being the main focus of the story I got very little about Molly — only that she is a victim of circumstances who really doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere.

While this is a young adult novel some may find it difficult to process the relationship between Richard and Molly. He is not close to Molly’s age as we would normally view it, but because of his shifter blood it was easy for me to see him as a teenage boy. I appreciate this because it gave a certain air of truth to the character. Since shifters can live so long it makes sense that their adolescents is longer than humans, but I can understand why some may find this a bit uncomfortable. Another aspect that some may question is the amount of violence. There are a few physical conflicts that can get a bit gory. Again, I did not view this is a problem, but I would not let my pre-teen read a story with this amount of gore.

This is a story that I think old teens and parents can enjoy alike, especially if you are looking for a good shifter story to pass the time.

So she’s not impressed when her brother tells her that he’s set up a blind date with Leighton Gray, the scrawny waif he befriended years ago. But when she sees the giant Adonis standing in her doorway, she changes her mind. Little Leighton’s all grown up, and she’s having some very adult thoughts about the man he’s become…

Gray has longed for more than just friendship with Damon’s sister Frankie since they were young and when she walks back into his life after all these years he is not going to let his chance slip away. Only this time around he is no longer a shy boy and is willing to prove how much he has grown up to Frankie. Gray must not only get Frankie to see him as more than that shy kid to winning her heart.

I enjoyed meeting Frankie and Gray but did not find myself getting lost in their story as much as I would have liked. Frankie is a strong woman. Having just dumped her ex she is a little vulnerable but she still finds a way to open her heart to Gray. Not only is Gray strong on the outside but he is also strong on the inside where it truly counts. Watching the relationship blossom between the two was a nice read. When things start to happen to Frankie I found it hard to understand why no one went with the logical explanation and totally disregarded certain facts about what had recently happened in Frankie’s life. The relationship with Gray and Frankie is not only a hot one but it also is a romantic one. Gray is such a gentlemen and refuses to treat Frankie as anything less than what she deserves. The two make a great couple so in love and ready to fight for that love.
