This is a short but action-packed story that moves along swiftly from one situation to another. Robbie and Jay are obviously meant to be, but they have to overcome kidnappings and beatings first. Personally, I would have preferred to had a bit more of Jay and Robbie, if only to find out if this is going to be a series or not. It has the potential to be, that’s for sure.

TRIGGER WARNING – there is a scene with attempted rape, so if that is a trigger for you, please be aware!

All in all, this was a great read that was over far too soon. Still recommended by me, though!

Mia has hidden her secret for six years and now, because of some violent, obnoxious alpha, she has to go in hiding with her bosses. This could ruin everything!

This is the eighth book in the series and, in my opinion, one of the strongest! I loved how Mia was determined not to sleep with her bosses. Of course, we all know it’s going to happen, but it’s the journey! 😉 She was feisty and strong and not prepared to take any of their sh*t! As for the three alphas, well, they are all different, yet complementary to each other. Ms. Carter got the voices exactly right as I was never in doubt over who was speaking.

This was a fast-paced read that kept my attention throughout. With some angst, plus suspense, this was a brilliant story that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Will Halloween bring a trick or a treat for two lonely men?

After finding his Master cheating on him, Rusty leaves with only his phone, keys and the clothes he’s wearing – devastated by the betrayal and his shock. Staying with his friends, Marcus and Jim while he finds his feet, Rusty is struggling to regain his confidence. At the Halloween party at the Hammer, Rusty meets Karl, a gentle Master who has struggled himself to find a compatible partner as much of his work keeps him away from home while he helps set up Haunted Houses across the country. Can these two men find something special this holiday period?

I’m a big fan of Sean Michael’s Hammer stories and was really pleased to find this was a full length novel. While the short-stories are always fun and a great, quick read, I really appreciated how the longer length allowed the author to spend a bit more time setting up the relationship and dynamics between Rusty and Karl. I was also pleased – but a little surprised – how while the relationship is certainly set in the BDSM lifestyle both Karl and Rusty were looking for something a little different. Rather than the usual heavy kink and envelope-pushing aspects of BDSM both the main characters were into something just a little bit more gentle. I was pleased that a lot of the less-portrayed aspects of the lifestyle were front and center in this story. Critical aspects like communication, creating rules and boundaries and discussing scenes and what each of them were seeking to have satisfied from both the lifestyle and their relationship.

While none of these things are new or different, I find in most BDSM stories they are often overlooked, or just mentioned for a fleeting second in passing then mostly ignored. Having them be critical to both Rusty and Karl – and some of the other more subtle aspects of the lifestyle – be the important aspects for our heroes really meant these things were in the spotlight and given a lot of time and space in the story and I found this really refreshing. While not as heavily kinky or envelope pushing as other aspects to the BDSM lifestyle I was pleased to see this slightly different relationship unfurl and grow. It was lovely to watch and I found myself eagerly turning the pages.

Readers who are looking to dip a toe into a BDSM story should find this really suits their tastes. While there is kink and plenty of sex this isn’t a hard or harsh story that is right on the edge. This is predominantly a love story to my mind – the slow, delicious drop between two men interested in the BDSM lifestyle who get to know each other and start to mesh their lives together and work out a lovely, deep, emotional relationship.

Sexy, romantic and realistic, I really enjoyed this steamy hot story.

What if “love at first sight” was no more than two soul mates recognizing each other through eons of time? Sometimes forever is an unbreakable promise.

Eleanor and Peter were a good match. They were both hopeless romantics who enjoyed the simple life. The thought of a living person falling in love with a spirit was so intriguing to me that it was one of the biggest reasons why I decided to read this book. Luckily, these characters had excellent reasons for being immediately drawn to each other that went beyond what was mentioned in the blurb, and I enjoyed the process of discovering what those other reasons for their instant love were.

There were a few subplots that were never resolved. For example, Peter had serious conflicts with his ex-wife and his daughter that were mentioned in the beginning but never followed up on. I also had some questions about what happened to Thor, a dog he bought shortly after moving into his new home. It would have been nice to have a few lines about how each of these subplots were tied up by the conclusion of the final scene.

The ending was otherwise well written and satisfying. I liked the way the author gave hints about how the world had changed over the centuries, especially since the narrator wouldn’t necessarily know everything the audience might be surprised or excited by due to how much things had changed for humanity over multiple generations. There was room here for a sequel, and I’d read it if it were written. With that being said, I also thought the main storyline gave a nice sense of closure for the characters.

Undying Love was a tender but smoldering novella that was worth diving into.

Randall had left his family and old life – one in the closet – behind and while he was nervous and felt lost something about King, his strength and confidence drew Randall. Can they find some magic this Christmas?

I enjoyed this Christmassy short story. While a few of the previous couples are mentioned in relation to the potion store Start Me Up this book can totally be read as a stand alone and I had no problems following along with it having not read any of the previous stories. I enjoyed that despite the short length of the story the author gave a fair bit of time at the start to properly introduce King and Randall’s characters, this helped me get a good feel for what they’re like and where they are at in their respective lives so as they slowly became more attached to each other their relationship felt more realistic and understandable to me.

I was pleased the author managed to explain most of the “magic” or paranormal aspect of this story without info-dumping or bogging the pace of the plot down. It was quite unconventional but I enjoyed it and while I feel readers will definitely need to suspend their disbelief – Christmas magic and a bit of “love conquers all” is never a bad thing in a romance story to my mind.

Readers looking for an intensely erotic story might not be satisfied with the two quick sex scenes. Personally I felt the blossoming relationship between King and Randall, as well as the paranormal/magical element to the story and the rest of the plot was more interesting and important than a second or third sex scene between the two men. Especially considering the short length to the story I feel the author managed to balance all these elements really well – but for an “erotic romance” even though the sex was steamy and sensual I could understand if this might not be satisfying for everyone.

Christmassy and full of magic and the first blush of a new relationship I enjoyed this happy and short story.

A short holiday romance. With a hint of mystery, action, and humor in it.

This is one of the characters in this universe that Harley Wylde has created that I have been the most curious about. It is a short read but gave me romance and sizzling chemistry.

This was an unexpected read. I expected there to be a lot more action since this is about Casper, who is an assassin. Yes, there was action. But it was one scene. However, that is understandable since it is a short read.

Casper is many things: an assassin for hire, a father, a grandfather, and a husband. There was not a lot of details about his life. Regardless, I loved reading this second chance romance and seeing their relationship improve. Casper and Carmella have been married for a decade. I did not expect that. Harley Wylde was able to show the emotional journey of Carmella from when she got married to where the book starts. There might have been a couple of tears–and a lot of laughs.

Overall a great book for readers who want a bit of everything in their read.

Things get steamy very quickly – but when she realises Jessie’s dad owes Alex a ton of money will they be able to work things out without either of them being hurt?

I found this to be a steamy and kinky story. I enjoyed both Jessie and Alex’s characters but thought they both were just a little stereotypical. The age difference between them didn’t bother me as Jessie was a fairly mature nineteen and while Alex might have been forty both were very clearly attracted to each other and willing. There is though quite a large gap between their ages and this might not work for all readers. I was pleased that the pace of the story felt quite even to me. I appreciated how Alex and Jessie didn’t just immediately jump into kinky sex play together – though there was a blow-job which was effectively her “interview” and the chemistry between the two characters was smoking hot. The author spent a fair bit of the first quarter of the story though allowing Alex and Jessie to get the basics on each other and check they both knew exactly what they were offering and expected from each other. This helped lend a lot of believability to the story for me and I was grateful they didn’t just rush into the kink and sex.

While there were only a few secondary character, I admit I was pretty curious about them – Rona and Dante in particular. Rona seemed to be a layered and complicated character – partly stuck on Alex after they’d shared a BDSM session together many years ago but despite her sharp tongue and gruff manner I could still feel that she cared about the various girls and subs working under her at the club. I’d be interested to see if her character might be portrayed more in future stories. And Dante was one of Alex’s brothers and while the two men clashed and had what appeared to be quite a spiky relationship it’s clear Dante will have his own story down the track somewhere.

The BDSM is explicit but fairly standard for these sorts of stories – paddling, anal toys, bindings and the like. I thought the author did a good job balancing the kink and sex with the plot and character growth between Jessie and Alex. I enjoyed seeing their relationship flourish and grow and even though it’s clearly early days, by the end of the story I really felt like they had a good chance of making it work together long term.

Sexy, hot and with a realistic and interesting plot this is a great short story. I feel it should appeal to most erotic readers – especially those who like a fair bit of kinky sex in their stories or those who enjoy older men/younger women stories.

Can love blossom in orbit?

I appreciated the slow burn approach to this tale. It was nice to get to know Astrid and Tabitha so well before anything romantic or sexual began happening between them. All of those scenes also helped to make some pretty convincing arguments about why these two characters would be perfect for each other. They had multiple opportunities to discover just how emotionally compatible they were, and that was exactly the right choice for them.

While I certainly wouldn’t have expected a full chapter on this topic, it would have been helpful to have a little more world building. The Zeta-16 space station seemed like a fascinating place to live and work. I would have liked to know more about it so that I could better understand why Astrid chose to work there even though she found it so lonely at times. If the author ever decides to write a sequel, I’d sure like to see what she might do with this in particular.

Astrid and Tabitha had excellent chemistry. I enjoyed the flirtatious banter between them just as much as I did seeing how well they both responded to each other’s boundaries and wishes. They were both emotionally intelligent women who were good at reading other people’s nonverbal cues. When this was combined with all of the goals and interests they shared in common, it was easy for them to progress from acquaintances to something more than that.

Hunting Astrid was a sizzling read that I’d recommend to fans of erotica and science fiction alike.

And even her dust bunny likes him.

But a honeymoon spent retracing their footsteps leads Hannah and Elias into the twisting underground catacombs, where secrets from both their pasts will come to light—and where the energy of their clashing auras will grow hot enough to burn…

Elias Coppersmith had been interacting online with Finder online for two months. When the dreamlight worker had found his ring – a lost family heirloom – Elias wanted to continue their communication in a far more personal, and less professional, manner. Hannah had gone to great pains to keep her work persona as Finder separate from her real life, but something in her urged the lowering of her guards. Neither Hannah nor Elias expected to wake up the morning after their first dinner date in a seedy hotel room with heavy after-burn amnesia and a licence in Elias’ pocked showing they’d got married the evening before. Is the whole thing an illusion – or is something far more interesting at play?

I have to admit I’m a total sucker for all of Jayne Ann Krentz’s personas and adore her writing. I have a particularly soft spot for her paranormal/sci-fi/fantasy ish series on Harmony with her writings as Jayne Castle. I’d been holding onto this book – apparently her last under this pseudonym for quite some time – because not only did I know it would be a deliciously fun romp through her paranormal world, but the plot holds a throw-back to pretty much every “Vegas” or “hangover” style of plotline going around. I love a good Vegas/hangover/wake up married and lost kind of plotline and so I knew this would be a winner for me.

I was in no way disappointed. This story is pure gold.

It certainly fits all the “Krentz/Castle drinking game” sort of tick boxes. Strong, alpha and powerful hero, strong, intelligent and perfectly capable heroine. A good, solid mystery plot. An adorable and strongly characterized dust bunny companion. Evil henchmen and bad guys roaming around. Add in other well-used Castle elements – strong para-psyche profiles, the horrid ex who ruined the heroine’s reputation and a few mysterious artifact or three – and I can understand why some readers might feel like this is a similar story to many of her others. But when you’ve found a good formula and you can make it work, why mess with it? I loved the Vegas overtones, adored Joe (the Elvis wedding impersonator) and found the plot was well written, well paced and I did enjoy watching Elias and Hannah retrace their steps and try to work out what had happened during their disastrous first date and how they got into the pickle they awoke to find themselves in.

With vibrant characters, a good pace and a really firm, steady plot this was an exceptional book and one I was really sad to finish reading because there doesn’t appear to be more coming down the line soon. I will absolutely be rereading this – and a number of the other Castle books preceding it – and I can strongly recommend this book. It stands perfectly well by itself and can easily be read as a stand-alone book but readers familiar with Castle’s Harmony world and already enjoying the other stories in this setting should not miss this exceptional addition. Highly recommended.

The title was the first thing that drew me in. Then the story did. The question I had going in was; will she be able to convince him?

Devin and Jessica are so different. Devin is this tattooed, mechanic with a hard exterior and Jessica is so sweet and bubbly. I loved reading the battle of wills between both of them.
