Fresh out of the hospital, wounded soldier Bradley Martin is suddenly a father of three when the mother of his young daughter, and her own set of twins, passes away. He’s overwhelmed and grateful that Mannies Incorporated have found a male nanny for him to help, not only with the kids, but with some of his needs as well. Recovering and learning to walk again is hard enough without the three children that have landed full time in his life.

David “Duffy” Dufferin has been a manny since graduating from college, and he loves his job. He gets to be a part of so many families, and he loves helping raise all the children he works with. He’s thrilled to be starting a new assignment with a brand-new family.

Life is never going to be the same for either man, but together, they just might find that their new normal includes a happy ending for all.

Duffy and Brad had been lovers many years ago but life had taken them in different directions – Brad to the Army and Duffy through college. Duffy loves his work as a manny – getting to help the kids one-on-one and helping to raise them and is surprised when chance leads him to going for a new Mannie’s Inc job and finding Brad, his six year old daughter Tori and infant twins to be his new clients. Seriously injured in an IED blast almost a year ago, Brad was still recovering and after the death of Tori and the twins’ mother struggling to find his feet and set up a new home for the three children was overwhelming to say the least. Can Brad, Duffy and the kids find a new normal?

I really enjoyed this contemporary story. While I’m a big fan of Sean Michael’s work this is the first Mannies Inc story that I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. Brad and Duffy were interesting and strong characters who I almost instantly connected and empathized with. Brad is trying his best in a stressful and unusual situation and Duffy is eager to help but has certainly been thrown into the deep end. Watching the two men try and find stable and common ground, along with their bubbling chemistry, was delicious and wonderful. I also adored Tori who was cute and a definite character without being too stereotypical as a young child. I loved how she seemed to fit roughly in with her age and she certainly had flaws and wonderful aspects to her character which made her feel really realistic and enjoyable to me.

I was also really pleased Brad’s parents were caring and supportive. This story focused the tension and conflict mainly around the complicated situation Brad and Duffy find themselves in along with the stress of having an instant-family which I felt was great and even though most of the plot was simply the new family trying to find their rhythm and day-to-day schedule I thought this was ample conflict and more would have been unnecessary.

Readers who enjoy a slow-burn to their romance should find this story really suits their needs. While there are a few smoking hot sex scenes between the two men I loved how the pace moved naturally and slowly, almost sweet in many places since a hot and sexy romance wasn’t on either Brad or Duffy’s agenda. The relationship was based on the new family, supporting and helping the children and each other and so this gave the whole story an air of sweetness and a true family dynamic which I absolutely loved.

I feel this story should appeal to a wide range of readers and left me feeling happy and good. A great read.

There’s just one problem—the intriguing form of young lab technician Leo Hannah, an employee of Benson Industries and a key witness, who appears to know more than he’s admitting to.

As the investigation progresses, James finds that his previously steadfast ability to separate personal from professional becomes increasingly unreliable. Can he get his head I the game before he compromises the investigation and his future career?

Any other time, FBI Agent James Solomon is all business. Until he meets a man he can’t get out of his head. He doesn’t have time for dalliances, he has a murder to investigate. But will he be able to keep Leo out of his head long enough to find the culprit?

James Solomon is good at his job and it appears that he even enjoys what he does. He’s precise and observant, picking up on things that others might miss. He’s also pretty fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the early interactions between him and his partner, Lisa Gibson. They worked well together and seemed to almost feed off each other’s strong points. So, when, approximately halfway through the book, James does something incredibly stupid, I had to pause for a moment. I found it a bit out of character for someone so dedicated to his job, so good at it that a higher-ranking agent points out how good he is, to do something that would potentially end his career. The temptation to do what he did made complete sense. But to act on it? That really threw me out of the story. Thankfully, I was engaged enough in the mystery to put James’ poor choices aside long enough to finish the story.

That aside, the mystery was solid and although you have an idea of who committed the act early on, their reasonings for it were a surprise. I also liked James, despite his bad choices. His calls with his sister were sweet, even if he wasn’t prepared to fully engage her when she called. Also, the strained relationship with his father added a bit of humanity to his character that gave me reason to empathize with him. I’d really enjoy a sequel to see ho everything shakes out for James, his family, Lisa, and Leo. In the meantime, I’m going to see what else the author has on offer.

This was a great and easy read, with Dixie and Cujo winning my heart. It was especially good to see Lisa with a heart, instead of the one-dimension ‘baddie’ you all too often see. Ace and Rachel are supported by a great cast of supporting characters, and if the author wanted to make a series, I would absolutely love to read Zane’s story! The settings were clear and the choices Ace had to make were exceedingly well-written. I could understand Rachel’s behaviour, even if I didn’t like it. My sympathies were firmly with Ace.

All in all, this was a great read that kept my attention. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

This tale had a wonderful sense of humor. Some of the funniest scenes involved Rose’s reactions to her visits to the past. She could scarcely believe what was happening to her! The things that flew out of her mouth as she adjusted to her scenery made me giggle every single time she realized she’d once again been pulled out of her perfectly ordinary life into one that she thought only happened in storybooks.

I would have liked to see more time spent on the world building. There were certain details shared about it that were mentioned briefly once but never fully explained. I was intrigued by the glimpses into this world and wished I could have known more about them. This was especially true when it came to the connections between Rose’s world and the one she suddenly travelled to. There was so much more that could have been done with those scenes.

Rose and Connor were both witty, personable characters who were well suited for each other. I enjoyed getting to know them and taking note of all of the ways in which their personalities and interests matched up. Not only did they have a lot in common, they genuinely liked one another as soon as they met. It’s always nice to see characters hit it off like that from the very beginning.

I’d recommend A Rose in Time to anyone who has ever wished for some excitement in their life.

This is an enjoyable and somewhat sweet romance that I really enjoyed. Axel and Cassie are both downtrodden in their own ways and I loved seeing them not just come together but build each other up and strengthen each other. That was really lovely and something you don’t often see in many erotic romances.

Due to the short length of the story, Cassie and Axel jumped a few of the normal “getting to know you” steps in a romance. And, while the author explained this well, I still felt like the story might have been richer and more believable had these early steps in their relationship not been so glossed over. I did really appreciate though how Cassie and Axel didn’t just jump into bed together or fall into insta-love. With Axel being a werewolf, that could have been one track taken and I was pleased the author avoided that cliche.

While Cassie and Axel’s growing relationship is the main thrust of the story’s plot, I was really impressed that what I thought would be a cliched ex-boyfriend sub-plot turned into something far more fresh and interesting. A part of me would have enjoyed it had the author given this sub-plot a little more time and room to unfold more slowly, but I felt this really added an excellent element to the story and made it much more than just “shifter meets and falls in love with girl” so it really helped round out the whole story.

With interesting characters and a few fresh twists to the plot, this was a really good short story that I enjoyed.

Finding love is hard—especially when you’re a demon and your potential mate is your sacrifice…

Sammy intrigues him from the get-go, and when Dre realizes that Sammy can get him the manga he’s been hunting for months—not to mention that he refuses a wish he offered him—the sexy demon decides to get to know this fascinating man better. Much better.

I have to admit I loved this plot and all the wonderful characters with all their different personalities. Also, most of the Demon lore that many authors use in their stories is not present. In fact, I don’t think there is a single one from other books I have read.

Sammy is a wonderful, quirky character that everyone who meets him can’t help but love. Unfortunately, he is incredibly shy, seen as a geek and has a bad habit of spewing strange facts when he is nervous, so his dating life is rather pathetic. His parents’ love had kept him going but he lost them a few years ago in a car crash and still mourns them. I love how he takes everything paranormal in stride, not seeming to mind the strange things that happen around him.

Dre is another wonderful, well developed character who does everything in his power to make Sammy happy. He also loves and enjoys the company of his family. When Dre is able to pay more attention to Sammy, they are almost instantly attracted to each other. Dre was struck by Sammy’s boyish, innocent face with bi-colored eyes.

I really enjoyed watching them go on several dates, going anywhere Sammy’s heart desired. In fact, their first date was to Rome where they went to Dre’s favorite restaurant which is owned by a witch and she makes it obvious that she approves of their relationship. Dre is able to create a hole that allows them to go wherever he wants in an instant. It was cute as they had a contest at each place they visited. Whoever could name the strangest facts won.

There is only one thing I wish could have been changed. The romance took a rather long time to develop. I loved these characters and couldn’t wait for them to express their love on a deeper level.

I adore the fun and adventure that goes along with the obvious connection between these two characters. A wonderful paranormal romance with lots of funny moments and geek trivia thrown around.

Everything is better at Christmas time.

Reece and Callie had fantastic chemistry. They might have seemed to be polar opposites at first glance, but they shared much more in common than I originally assumed. Figuring out what those commonalities were was a great deal of fun, especially once they began to slowly draw these two lonely souls together. The more I learned about them, the stronger my hope became that they’d figure out a way to find their happily ever after.

While I generally wouldn’t expect to see as much character development in a short story as I would in something full-length, it would have been helpful to have more character development here. Everyone felt a bit flat to me, especially when it came to Reece and Callie. They both shared information about their pasts and personalities that piqued my curiosity, but there simply wasn’t enough time spent developing those parts of these protagonists in order for them to come alive for this reader.

The Christmas spirit was strong in this tale, and I’m not talking about decorations, presents, or delicious food even though there was plenty of that stuff to go around. Callie and her grandmother truly understood what Christmas is all about on a deeper level. I can’t go into too much detail about how they convinced me of that without giving away spoilers, but I can say I was pleased by how these characters demonstrated their genuine love of this time of the year.

I enjoyed the different powers that each Kilfane character possess but we don’t get a lot of examples of what they are. It was really interesting watching Hami falling in love with Earth and I can only hope that Amina falls in love with his planet as much as he did with Earth. It isn’t always immediately obvious who might be soulmates.

There was a scene early on that made me chuckle. Let’s just say that Hailey’s behavior when someone sexually harassed her while she was trying to relax and have a good time was as on point for her personality as it was surprising for this genre. I was proud of how she handled that situation and immediately interested in getting to know her better.

I would have liked to see more time spent resolving the conflicts between Hailey and Clark. They definitely had chemistry, but their previous experiences with each other had caused so many bad feelings that I was expecting a longer period of hashing things out. They both had good reasons to dislike and mistrust each other. I needed more evidence that they’d fixed those issues before they moved on to anything else.

One of the most refreshing things about this story was the way it compared life in a small town to life in a big city. The characters all had different preferences about where they’d ideally like to live, but everyone expressed those views in a positive way and without putting down others for wanting to live in a smaller or bigger place. They also were quick to acknowledge the benefits and drawbacks of either choice. This nuanced approach to deciding where to live is something I love seeing and hope will become much more common in the future.

Thanksgiving Dinner should be read by anyone who has ever wondered what their cute high school classmates might be up to these days.

I really enjoyed this slow-paced and romantic holiday romance. I loved the buildup between Oliver and Noah – the fact they didn’t just eye each other off in the train, fall instantly in lust and jump into bed. Oliver was shy and very lonely and Noah might have been successful in his career but he wanted to be liked for himself and not his bank balance. I was pleased that each man was realistic, relatable and the author gave me enough time to get to know them both independently to want them to come together and see how they could form a relationship together.

I felt the conflict in the story was a little cliched but enough of the surrounding sub-plot, who Oliver and Noah both really were and their deep and genuine attraction to each other, managed to carry the story through this roughness. Readers looking for a fresh or unique story-line won’t find that here, but I was really pleased both Oliver and Noah’s characters were interesting and relatable. The sex between the two men was equal parts tender and hot, and I was really impressed that the author didn’t rush to have them jump into bed or fall in insta-lust.

With a good pace, strong characters and a lovely Christmassy setting this story had a lot going for it and overall I really enjoyed it.
