Top Ten Tuesday: Picture Books We’ve Reviewed This Month

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Picture books aren’t just for kids! I especially enjoy reading them on days when I’m not feeling well or having trouble concentrating on longer works for whatever reason. They are often about cheerful topics, too, which is a refreshing change from the serious and sometimes scary stuff I typically choose.

Here are ten picture books that we’ve reviewed so far this month. I wrote this in advance for scheduling purposes, so there may be more a few great reviews from this genre on our site by the time this post goes live.

1. Mario and the Hole in the Sky – How a Chemist Saved Our Planet by Elizabeth Rusch

2. Thank You, Neighbor by Ruth Chan

3. Touch the Earth by Julian Lennon

4. My First Day by Phùng Nguyên Quang

5. Purplicious by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann

6. On Duck Pond by Jane Yolen

7. Dog’s Day by Jane Cabrera

8. Go for the Moon by Chris Gall

9. Cows to the Rescue by John Himmelman

10. I Am Quiet – A Story for the Introvert in All Of Us by Andie Powers:

I work with kids so I’ll definitely be saving some of these picture books!

  2. What a cute topic

  3. I love Jane Yolen! My first grandchild is just 6 months old, but can’t wait until she’s old enough not to grab for the pages!

  4. Carol @ ReadingLadies says

    I adore pic books!

  5. Pictures books are so much fun! I miss when my daughter was the age to read them.

  6. These sound really cute and fun!

  7. I Am Quiet sounds like such a great picture book, especially for an introvert like me 🙂

  8. This is such a fantastic idea for a list! As a mum, I’m always looking for great books to read with my kid, but it can be hard to find good recommendations. This has given me lots to explore! Thanks for sharing!

  9. This is a nice list to have. I still have fond feelings for Good Night Moon even though it’s a picture book for little ones obviously! Something just soothing and nostalgic about it though! 🙂

  10. Picture books are great and so many of them very clever and thought provoiking.

  11. Picture books!

Makes me want my nieces to start having babies.

    Such a fun list.

  12. My DIL just had a baby shower and she asked to be “showered” with picture books. It was so fun to shop for them and to see which ones she received from everyone. My grandbaby is going to have a great picture book library 🙂

    Happy TTT!

  13. Interesting to one by Julian Lennon. I had no idea he was also a writer.

  14. I read so many picture books when my kids were little. I’m more out of touch with the newer ones now, but I have been known to grab a picture book to fulfill a hard reading challenge prompt when I’m desperate. Ha! Great topic choice!

  15. There is something about picture books that remind me of more innocent times. Both of my girls are grown (21 & 15), but seeing picture books reminds me of when they were little.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

  16. I didn’t know that Julian Lennon wrote children’s books. This is such a cool list, and I really like the way that children’s books touch on serious topics but manage to keep them in an easy-to-understand and process way.

  17. I’ve been doing some deep cleaning and “unhauling” so I’ve run across some of my childhood picture books. They’re fun to flip through. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my website this past week.
