Then readers meet the peddler. One can guess that there’s more to him than meets the eye. He has unusual talents and gifted insights. He says intriguing things to a variety of interesting people. The suspense here is in wondering where his brilliant insights are going to lead, but there are different lines of suspense being created in this story, which are overlapping.
The characters all have some kind of trouble, but hope is not lost. With a little bit of mysticism, help is on the way. Watching their predicaments unfold is entertaining. Readers won’t know what to expect because the strange and unknown are likely to happen.
