Legend says Grim Hammerhand is half wolf. Vowing never to marry, the muscular red-haired warrior saves his passion for the battlefield and the forge. That is, until the woman he secretly lusts after is abducted.
Asgerd has loved Grim for years, only to be ignored by the object of her desire. She has eluded the bonds of marriage, hoping that someday Grim will notice her, but her dreams are shattered when she is captured and defiled by the brutal warrior Stein.

After the king sends Grim to rescue his daughter and claim Stein’s land, the passion between the couple finally ignites. In the end, Grim’s mistrust of all women could destroy their one true chance for happiness.

Grim Hammerhand rides to the rescue of Asgerd and, even though he has vowed never to marry, he can’t help but protect her and offers her marriage. I enjoyed watching these two learn to live together and make their way to love.

This is a quick yet well fleshed out story, I understood what was happening in this book easily. I enjoyed the legends around Grim and how afraid everyone was of his fierce side, even though he has a very gentle side with Asgerd.

Asgerd doesn’t think she is worthy of love and marriage anymore after the way that Stein treated her. So she doesn’t believe that Grim can be any different than any other man, and through some misunderstandings they have a very rocky start, but they learn to love each other.

It’s definitely a hot story that is full of a lot of time spent in their bed closet and the scenes are very well written and they add to the story since Asgerd has to learn that not all men are brutes. It wraps up nicely and left me feeling very satisfied. I would easily read more books by Kate Hill.
