They say a guy can never be too hung. Well, Harold Jacobs doesn’t know who they are, but they’re wrong. Socially awkward for as long as he can remember, Harold feels his enormous package is just one more thing to be embarrassed about. Especially once hunky and popular Owen McKenzie notices it in the showers.

Owen knows he’s bi, but he keeps that secret close to his chest. He likes Harold, and wants to help him shed his dorky image and maybe even find a boyfriend. Still, Owen can’t stop obsessing about Harold’s equipment. And as much as he doesn’t want to flip-flop on his sexuality, Owen does want to test-drive what Harold has between his legs.

Their friendship erupts into full-blown lust. But can Owen accept the loss of his golden-child status and be Harold’s boyfriend? And can Harold outgrow his insecurity in time to keep the man he loves?

When I read the blurb for this story I will admit that I laughed pretty hard. I went into this story expecting a funny tale, and it had its moments where at the beginning I found myself laughing, especially when we meet Harold Jacobs and his problem appendage in the shower. Then I stopped and realized just how embarrassing Harold’s situation could be to a guy in communal showers especially when he was in high school. I loved Harold for his internal monologue full of so much wit and humor that you have no choice but to love him. Then enters Owen who knows he likes guys but isn’t ready for everyone else to know. I was prepared to not like Owen because of this, since I’m not always sure how to feel about stories with seemingly straight guys who turn gay. Ms. Harris pulls this off beautifully, with characters so loving and human that you can’t help but be drawn to them. I was rooting for them the whole time. I loved that Owen was at first attracted to Harold on a purely physical and lustful level only to find that Harold was an interesting and fun guy to be around.

This is the eighth book in Ms. Harris’s Men of Holsum College series and I haven’t read any of the others but if this is any indication of how the others are written, I will definitely be picking them up. She presents a college scene that is very true to my own experiences and that makes the stories just that much more enjoyable. The men are hot and witty and I would love to have been friends with them.

Pick this up if you want an enjoyable story where the men are hot and they fall in love with enough humor to not take themselves too seriously. It’s a truly beautiful love story at the core of it all, and when you toss in hot men you can’t go wrong.

  1. I always enjoy Daisy’s Men of Holsum College books. They never fail to make me happy and the guys sound like people I would love to know in real life. Plus, she writes some good sexiness 😉

  3. I can’t believe I have never run across any of these books before! This one sounds really good. And both Owen and Harold are having real-life problems. I cdn’t wait to find out how they get through it. I can tell that I will have to pick up the whole series…. Thank you for letting me know about these books. Karen.arrowood@sbcglobal.net

  4. Thanks for hosting me on the blog today! Glad you enjoyed the book. 🙂

  5. What a thoughtful review. You’re right in that we might just think Daisy is writing this for laughs but teens can be so self-conscious, even ostracized, for being different (or extraordinary) in ANY way.
