Hurt Me Good had a suspenseful quality to it. There was so much of the world building to absorb, at times, I needed to go back to the same paragraphs again and again to be sure of the scene and details. It only increased my interest and made me determined to finish the book.
Ms. Steele did a good job of creating this paranormal world considering this is a short story. I was sad to see the story end since I wanted more and more of the story and the characters.
This was the first book in the series though and I think the books to come could bring to light a lot of the answers to the questions I have right now. Miss Steele gave enough to spark my interest and yet, held back enough details to make me want come back to keep an eye out for the next book in the series.
There was passion, chemistry and loss in the story that would touch a lot of hearts.
One small issue I had with a character, Barringer had more than one nick name. It confused me for a couple of pages until I got a hang of it. I wasn’t sure if it was an editing mistake or on purpose and therefore took me out of the story for a bit. Not too long, though.
I loved reading this story because of the main plot. The twists and turns that led to the vampire falling in love with a demi and the demi finding out more about her past through one person that she never expected it from. The ending was very very surprising but I loved it.
Hurt Me Good is a cleverly written story with twists that kept me on the edge. A great read for any vampire lovers.
