Reviewed by PlumeriaJayne Sheridan intended to wait until her wedding night to give up “the goods.” One life-threatening illness and a decade later, she’s wondering if she’ll ever get married and if she shouldn’t just “go for it” now that she’s cancer-free. Her undeniable attraction to the town tattoo artist has her contemplating getting more than a tattoo.
Seth Carter has crammed a lot of living into his years and had his heart broken in a way that he believes is irrevocable. Jayne confuses and intrigues him but he doesn’t want her to look back with regrets, so he turns down her offer. He doesn’t count on the onslaught of jealousy when Jayne decides to take matters into her own hands. Jayne is his.
When the past treads on his doorstep, can Seth handle unexpected blessings and protect the ones he holds dearest to him?
Sparks flew when we first met the enigmatic tattoo artist and bashful librarian, but now it’s time to see what happens with the super hero and virginal heroine! This book picks up where Sparks Fly left off with our sexy couple Jayne and Seth. After a very sexy good night kiss on the Fourth of July, we find the duo are haunted by each other as their attraction builds.
We start out with Jayne deciding to move forward with her life, after she felt it had been in suspension during her sickness over the last ten years. What better way to do that then to let the studly Seth put his hands all over her. Well, putting his artist hands on her while he’s tattooing her that is. But she’ll take what she can get to start with. While her passion is writing sexy stories about sex, love and romance Jayne is lacking knowledge in the first department. Intending to save her virginity for marriage, things fall apart and she’s left feeling awkward about it at her age.
Seth is drawn to the sexy librarian who is exactly his type. She’s smart, funny and curvy for days. But more so, she pulls out his protective instinct. When he stumbles across her secret hobby, it makes his blood boil with the thought that he has the starring role in her written fantasies. He also finds out that she’s the virginal heroine in this tale. But when she offers him her most precious gift, he refuses her. He’s seen a lot of things in his travels, and regretted a lot of it and he never wants her to live with that kind of regret. But when she decides to take matters into her own hands, Seth has no choice but to claim her like he wants before someone else does.
Once the two come together, holy hot pages! We watch as Jayne turns into the sexy woman she was always meant to be with the help of Seth. And we see Jayne start to heal some of the hurt that Seth has held onto from the previous years. But when a big surprise is dropped into Seth’s lap, its an unanswered prayer for Jayne and instead of her pulling away from Seth like he expects, the situation brings them closer together.
With this 12th, yes 12th, installment in the Divine Creek Series by Heather Rainier, this is by far my favorite. I loved everything. I loved Jayne’s inner monologues and her humor. When she interrupts her parents on the “phone” I was laughing out loud. I loved her courage and her determination first during her sickness, but the end of the book really brought that home for readers.
Seth, oh momma. Seth is my new favorite male character ever. He was sexy, sweet, brave, and loving and every other fantastic adjective you can think of. His heart of gold was worn on his very sexy tattooed arm, and even though he felt weighed down by guilt for something that he couldn’t control he never let it control him. Seth is everyone woman’s romantic dream. My favorite part of him was when he let down his guard and let his true inner Alpha male out. And let me tell you, rawr!
In addition to the couple, the secondary characters were fun, and brought a lot to the page for what little time was spent on them. But the love that was shared between the couple, and their friends and family was wonderful. Ms. Rainier definitely has her niche with love being the star attraction to all her novels. She introduced a lot of new characters, and set up a few things to continue this series, and I along with many others are anxiously awaiting for what happens next in a little town of Divine.
Plumeria!!!!! Oh my gosh, thank you so much! Your review had me wanting to read my own book! LOL!
