Review by HibiscusBeing bad always gets more press than being good.
Women’s pro basketball star, Taryn Belle scores baskets on the court and conquests off the court. Her reputation as the baddest of bad girls garners major publicity for women’s sports. Cody Brickman, a hotshot quarterback with a wild streak, falls prey to one of Taryn’s promotion schemes, and she falls prey to a night in his bed.
Cody suspects her bad girl image is an elaborate ruse fueled by a string of carefully crafted publicity stunts, especially after she publicly slams his sexual prowess. He backs Taryn into a corner until the only way out is to play the part she’s created by showing Cody how bad she can be. Jerome, Taryn’s long-time admirer and Cody’s teammate, will take Taryn any way he can get her, even if it means sharing.
How far will a girl go to publicize the sport she loves and maintain her bad girl reputation in a game where the winner takes all?
Warning: Not for the faint-hearted.
Inequality of the sexes in sports, salaries and publicity is not what I would think would be material for a romance story but I was wrong. I have to warn you that Winner Takes All is a very hot, very steamy, and extremely sexy story when all those things are combined.
Taryn Belle is a six foot one female basketball player. When I think of sports stars, most are pretty clean cut. Not so our Taryn. She is the epitome of the “bad girl” image. She’s been on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, posed for Playboy magazine and has been fodder for all the rags. Little does anyone know that this is the way she raises money for her charities since female salaries are significantly lower than male salaries. Taryn unfortunately picks on the male “bad boy” of football to pull her next money raising stunt.
Cody “The Brick” Brickman believes everything he reads about Taryn and is more than happy to go with her wherever she may lead. I knew he had Taryn confused when he made her lose control not only on the dance floor but in the limo as well. This drug is online viagra australia deeprootsmag.org known as the weekend pill. At six foot six, Cody thinks he is more than a match for Taryn until the newspaper reveals her tell-all.
This story moves very quickly. There are many deep facets to both Taryn and Cody that we slowly see as the story progresses. I loved how Taryn ripped Cody down just to build him up again–with a pool table no less. There is a cute scene with Viagra comments that eventually leads to a sizzling three way. And what can I say about her fantasy list except keep a fan near by.
There were many secondary characters that made this story a joy to read. I loved Levi, Mr. Conservative Cowboy. His use of a camera and other apparatus is amazing. Jerome is Taryn’s best buddy for the past ten years. His loyalty and willingness to do anything for her is shown throughout. But my all time favorite character is Boris. Nothing beat his nails in the chest among other things.
Winner Takes All is the first book in the Delectable Bad Boys Series. I can’t wait for the next book since I found Winner Takes All to be a winner in my book and I hope that you will agree.
