Madison “Maddie” Lee, Southern debutante, headstrong female and newly turned werewolf, has met the man…er wolf of her dreams and is planning her perfect wedding.

Once Jess tells Maddie that Nicholi is missing, Maddie is determined to find her missing sweetie: after all, she can’t have this wedding without him.

Maddie and Jess get along like matches and gasoline, but they forge an alliance to find Nicholi. With the help of Jason, the King of the North American werewolves and Maddie’s half brother, they’ll have to lean to work as a team.

When the political undercurrents of werewolf society become involved, Maddie must learn about her heritage in order to figure out who wants Nicholi dead. Can Maddie and Jess find Nicholi without killing each other? And just what is going on between Jason and Jess?

Were the Moon Don’t Shine is J. Morgan’s second book in his Southern Werewolf Chronicles and it’s a fun filled, action packed romp. The world building is marvelous. Maddie is still the same sarcastic and self-centered Southern Deb, headstrong and determined to get her way. But once she decides to save her sweetie, nobody better get in her way. I love Maddie, and her self-indulgent diatribes. She is smart, independent and totally clueless when it comes to werewolf politics, despite her half-brother’s status.

This is a fast paced and hilarious romp with Maddie and company running all over trying to make things right, save Nicholi, and find the perfect wedding dress. There are a couple of big surprises here, and one involves the culprit behind it all. I love the interaction between Maddie and her future sister-in-law, the totally off the wall humor and the exciting race to stop the bad guys and save the day for all concerned. Do we ever learn what’s going on with Jason and Jess? Not here, but I hope to see much more of them in future books. This is a wonderful book for those who like sweet and silly romance with a bit of the paranormal to it.

Were the Moon Don’t Shine reads fine as a stand-alone but If you want to see how it all began, I recommend that you read book one, Were Love Blooms first.
