She can’t understand why a high-born faerie she hardly knows would want to marry her because she certainly doesn’t want to marry him. The mortal world looks far more enticing.
Being a vampire bites. Crippled with guilt over his part in the death of his twin, Dominic is estranged from his family. When he rescues an injured werewolf on the run from his pack, he sees a kindred spirit in the damaged outcast.
What use is a werewolf who can’t scent or track? Victim of his conniving brother, Jay is viciously attacked by his pack. The wolves might not want him but once he’s living with Dominic, they won’t leave him alone.
After a night of passion with Dominic and Jay, Holly’s ready to move in with them. But their enemies are intent on keeping them apart and the trio of misfits find themselves in a fight for survival. If they can’t figure a way through the web of lies and deceit that bind them, they’ll lose more than their families. They’ll lose each other.
The Misfits combines blistering hot sex with a nice slathering of paranormal fantasy and mystery/suspense. You get vampires, faeries, werewolves, demons, different worlds…and just about anything else you could possibly desire. Just be sure to devote a slot of time to read this one, because you’re not going to want to stop once you get started.
The action starts as soon as the story begins, with the luscious werewolf Jay and his dominating vampire partner Dominic. They are as sexual together as they are loving; the perfect couple in search of the missing piece to complete their misfit family. When they meet the breathtaking Holly at a party, they can’t help but fall under her charm. The problem is Holly isn’t a human, but a fae, and after they get down and dirty…well, things get down and dirty.
I have to praise Ms. Elborg’s ability to create such a lush and vivid story, with so many characters and races, which never becomes taxing. Although there is a lot going on (and that doesn’t change as the story progresses) the reader is never overwhelmed. Rather than throwing all of the information about the protagonists at the audience, she allows the mystery to slowly unravel, and like a cherished present, it’s made all the more worthwhile for the anticipation. Tight writing and a brisk pace maintain the course, and the premise holds the interest throughout.
There is so much more offered than a mere ménage, and I couldn’t wait to see what direction I would be taken next. Holly, a fae who can’t fly and is laughed at by her race, is on the run from a malicious suitor in her world. Jay, a werewolf who has been taunted and teased and cannot smell, is on the skids with his former pack. And Dominic…well, to divulge more would be to ruin the story, and we can’t have that. Suffice it to say there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and once the tension and intrigue start, it doesn’t let up.
Fans of paranormal/fantasy erotica won’t be disappointed with The Misfits. There are enough blistering sex scenes to make the devil break a sweat, while the various twists and turns provide a welcome distraction when things cool down. I thoroughly enjoyed this wicked story, and I’m certain fellow enthusiasts of the genre will as well.
Thanks for the review. I’m glad you liked it!
