The opening line of Spyder’s Web grabbed my attention right away. This book is told in Spyder’s point of view, and it reads much like a journal would. Spyder is cursed. She must have sex to keep her madness at bay, but her partners never make it out alive. I got a sense that Spyder was actually a very nice and good person before she was cursed by Galen. I found this plot to be interesting and unique. My problem was that it felt rushed. I didn’t get enough information to feel satisfied. I think that part of the problem was the point of view. We only get Spyder’s thoughts and views on what is happening. Often, those thoughts became a bit jumbled and confusing. If I could have been given an insight into James’ mind, and the plot could have been extended, this book would have been much more enjoyable.

That isn’t to say that this book was a total loss. The creativity was there. I liked Spyder and James; they were both likeable characters with whom I could identify. The descriptions of people and places were vivid, bringing the scene to life in my mind. The plot is unlike any other book I have read, and I would actually enjoy reading more about the Cursed, Scorpions, and Hawks.

I would recommend this book to paranormal romance lovers who are looking for something a little different. It will certainly make you think and heat up your afternoon.
