Owen MacLaren is the Alpha’s son and the Pack’s second, and he has never been one to let anything get to him. So when a bunch of Rogues begin purposely dumping mutilated bodies around the Pack Keep, he is more than ready to deal with the Werewolves responsible. But one trip to a local strip joint for a colleague’s stag night changes things, and Owen soon discovers he isn’t immune to everything . . . .
After five years away, Clare Walker finds herself back home in Scotland, working in a strip club. The tips are decent, and she gets to dance, but it isn’t a place she thought she would ever be, let alone Owen, her Pack second and the Werewolf who broke her heart.
Although Owen is determined to prove he wants to be with Clare, things can’t go smoothly between them, not when they have past issues to sort out and a bunch of unusual ‘Rogues’ to deal with.
Owen MacLaren has never been more petrified than the day Clare danced her way back into his life. He stumbles and the suave womanizer disappears as his wolf decides to take control. Before he knows it, his world is turned upside down and confusion over his feelings and what is best for her are at war with each other. Now Owen is at Clare’s mercy as he struggles to make her realize that he’s changed, but so has she. The past has a way of coming back to bite and a nightmare look into Clare’s possible demise, gives Owen clarity and a new resolve strengthened. The Rogue threat is what ultimately brings them together and it may just tear them apart, but the question is what exactly are these Rogues?
She-Wolf is a combination of both suspense and drama with a nice dose of erotic romance. The power exchanges and dialogue between Owen and Clare are hilariously amusing and maddeningly frustrating, which just added to my further enjoyment of the story. Having the characters just hop into a relationship would have been less believable and I wouldn’t have connected with the character’s as well either.
However, there was some confusion surrounding how long Clare has been back in Scotland. It was mentioned a couple of times that Clare had been back for three weeks, but an employee of the strip club said Clare had been working there for two months. I am also not entirely sure why Clare decided to work at a strip club instead of finding some other type of gainful employment while waiting for her ‘big break’. Regardless, Clare and Owen’s unique reunion in the strip club makes for some fairly heated and intense exchanges between them right from the beginning of the story. Since the story is told from the points-of-view of both Clare and Owen, the reader is immediately drawn into the characters thoughts and feelings while the switching of the POV’s was smoothly done.
There is much potential for The Blood Series to continue momentum with the next installment after the cliff-hangery ending and fans of paranormal erotic romance will definitely want to check out this author. After reading She-Wolf, it is without question that I will be reading the next in the series, Cranberry Blood.
