Reviewed by Morning GloryAnthropologist Spence Banning is researching the effects of primitive tribal music on the civilized human libido. Unfortunately, he lacks the perfect test subject to complete his work on sexual response.
When the primal beats pulse through the vents of her apartment in the middle of the night, Ivy Whitehall awakens in a state of intense arousal. Although she normally avoids confrontation, desperation drives her to seek out the source of the music and demand relief. Their initial sexual encounter is manic, mindless and nameless but afterward Spence convinces Ivy to be his test subject. Though the research is intriguing, Ivy finds her willingness to help is less for the sake of science…and more about strengthening a certain sexual syncopation.
The sensual thumping of a drum, the serpentine tune a pipe, and the sounds of a primeval jungle come alive in your head as you read this book.
Ms. Campbell offers up a tantalizing read. Dr. Spencer Banning is a sexy anthropologist whose studies disrupt his downstairs neighbor, Ivy. The wild jungle beats drive her undersexed body into a frenzy, making her a little crazy and she does something completely out of character. I loved how Ms Campbell used the music to get these two otherwise socially inept characters together. And when they got together they were like animals. This book made me want to try a few of my experiments of my own with the primal tunes.
The idea behind this story, that music can help influence our primal nature is something I found really interesting. I don’t know if it’s a scientifically proven concept, but it’s a cool idea. Ms. Campbell’s writing style is enthralling, descriptive, and hot. She lights up the pages with the erotic scenes, in this book. While there is a lot of sex, for the err… “experiment”, Ms. Campbell manages to work in a happy for now ending, and you get the feeling it’ll really be a Happily Ever After.
I’m so happy to see this book on here!! Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down!!! The chemistry betwen Spence and Ivy is super hotttt!!! This book makes me want to go back to school and major in Anthropology!!!!!
