Reviewed by HollyMandy is content with her job as a librarian, her longtime boyfriend, Martin, and the lovely home they share. So what if their sex life is vanilla? She’s not the wild type anyway.
But when she wakes up one morning—unsatisfied—from an erotic dream starring her favorite movie star, Mandy starts to crave sexual adventure in real life. Too bad Martin won’t oblige, because it’s not Tuesday or Friday. Then Mandy finds out what Martin’s been doing the other days of the week—or rather, who. And suddenly she needs to prove to herself that she’s not boring in bed.
Fortunately, there is no shortage of smoking-hot men willing to help her on her sensual quest: a nameless library patron who could be Brad Pitt’s twin, a coworker she suddenly sees in a different light, and the neighbor who usually rubs her the wrong way wants to show her he can rub her the oh-so-right way, too! Lucky for Mandy, her lovers are more than willing to share…
Mandy is content with her life…but bored. After a hot dream featuring one of her favorite stars, Mandy tries to seduce her boyfriend Martin, but since it isn’t Tuesday or Friday, he stalls. Then Mandy comes home early from her job as a librarian, and catches Martin just as his ‘other woman’ is leaving. Mandy tosses him out, along with the mattress that he cheated on, and questions her own sexuality, wondering why she wasn’t enough.
An encounter with a mystery stranger makes her feel alive and attractive so she embarks on a series of sexcapades, from sex on the job with Sean, a co-worker at the library, to sex in the park with the mysterious stranger, and finally, with her new roommate, James. She begins to realize she is out of control, but can’t seem to stop. When she realizes she has strong feelings for James, she tries to cut back her activities. Can she settle down and find happiness with one man? Can Mandy find a way to live her fantasies with James?
Shelley Aikens has written a hot and sex filled story of betrayal and discovery. The action is set off by Martin’s betrayal of Mandy, and leads Mandy to experiment with her sexuality in many ways. Mandy is an interesting character. She begins as a disappointed and slightly bored woman and after Martin’s betrayal, she seems to go just a bit wild. She feels lacking, and thinks the only way to feel better is to fulfill all of her fantasies. She uses less than good judgement, especially in her encounters with the ‘mysterious stranger’ first in the library, then later in the park. She finally gets her act together when she realizes what she really wants.
The men in Mandy’s life are all attractive, but each has a different way to treat her. Sean starts off shy, but quickly becomes dominating and demanding. The mysterious stranger floats in and out almost like a dream. James starts as a neighbor who offers a room to Mandy in exchange for dog sitting, but it is this man who helps Mandy come to terms with what she really wants.
This is a very hot book, filled with as many fantasies as the author could pack in here. I felt a bit overwhelmed at times by all that was going on. I was a bit uncomfortable in a couple of spots, but I did enjoy the happy ever after that Mandy finally found. This story is definitely not for the faint of heart, and the heat is high enough to singe your fingertips.
