While Prince Jhoral, the heir to the Farsaean throne, leader of the Skyhawlk Flyers, visits neighboring Kylia, he’s invited to watch a special Empathic Melding Ceremony. He attends, as a courtesy, even though he doesn’t believe in it. But his whole world is turned upside down when stubborn, stunning Lanai chooses him to be her receptor. Their minds meld together in exquisite tenderness and passion and centuries of tradition are shattered in an instant.

Lanai has waited her whole life for the one person to complete her. But, unlike other empaths, she has always wanted more than to be a vessel for her bondmate. Adventure, excitement…even love. However, her dreams couldn’t have prepared her for the shock of mating with a dark warrior prince whose life is filled with so much violence, so much war.

Despite the obstacles, the two are determined to stay together. Will the melding of their minds bring their peoples to the brink of war, or will they together teach both countries and themselves, the power of true love?

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable.

They come from two different cultures. He is a warrior, the Crown Prince Jhoral Farsae, leader of the Sky-flyers. She is Lanai, an empath of great strength and promise, from a Kylian family. Jhoral is a pragmatic man from a culture that believes only in what can be seen or proven, and calls empaths and their like tall tales. He arrives on a visit to Crown Prince Dyas Kyl on a day when there is to be a melding ceremony, a highlight of Kylian culture. No outsider has ever before witnessed this ceremony, and although Jhoral does not believe, he agrees to go as an act of diplomacy. During the ceremony the unheard of happens, and Lanai and Jhoral mind meld, the first time ever that it has happened with an outsider or a male.

More Than a Warrior is a story of love and overcoming obstacles. Jhoral and Lanai must fight for what they want, and there are palace intrigues trying to block their way at each step. Add to the mix that Lanai has never been around others, because by the very nature of an empath every thought, every touch and every feeling causes her to feel strongly, sometimes painfully. There is rebellion and threats to both families, as well as to Lanai, and the lengths that some of the Kylians go to in order to try and force Jhoral and Lanai apart are great.

CJ England has written a powerful story of passion and love, and the struggle to overcome all odds to be together. I got lost in the story along the way, because it story is filled with layer upon layer of emotion and humor and joy. There are several surprises and twists in this tale, and the happy ever after is many times in doubt. Ms. England has given us characters with many dimensions, and I loved the way she allowed the story to unfold at its own pace. This is definitely a world I will come back to again, and I recommend this to anyone who likes their action fast, their romance steamy and their happy ever after hard won.
