Ms. Black weaves a tale of spies, seduction and love that teases and tempts you to keep reading.
Stories of misunderstandings, like this, always make me feel for the characters. Granted they usually get their happily ever after, but the misunderstandings make me feel upset for them. I usually have the urge to yell at the book even though I know it’s just pages.

Adrian is understandably wary given his past, which makes what he does believable and makes the reader understanding. If it wasn’t for this background, I would have really disliked him as a hero, but Ms Black makes it all right by giving us a reason. Helen is very naive, and just wants to do something more for her county. Despite Ms Black going through Helen’s thought process on this I was left wondering if a woman in this time period would really seduce a man like she tries to do for any reason. I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt since I’m sure people did all sorts of uncharacteristic things during war time.
Their confusion and interest in each other, drive the plot, making you want them to work it out. This story was very fast paced and it worked because this is just a few days in these characters lives. I would have liked to have seen the characters fleshed out a little bit more, but this works. With lies, spies and seduction you’re riveted to the pages wanting to know what will happen and if they get their man.
