Reviewed by MistletoeThe game has always cast a shadow over Oriana Delgado’s life. She should hate the game. But she doesn’t. The passion and the energy of the sport is part of her. But so is the urge to drop the role of the Dartmouth Cobra owner’s ‘good daughter’ and find a less…conventional one.
Playmaker, Max Perron, never expected a woman to accept him and his twisted desires. Oriana came close, but he wasn’t surprised when she walked away. A girl like her needs normal. Which he can’t give her. He’s too much of a team player, and not just on the ice.
But then Oriana’s father goes too far in trying to control her and she decides to use exposure as blackmail. Just the implication of her spending the night with the Cobra’s finest should get her father to back off.
Turns out a team player is exactly what she needs.
Oriana has done everything all her life for her father’s approval–even dating the man he wants her to. That all ends when she finds out that Paul has been cheating on her–with her father’s approval. The act shows Oriana just how little she matters to her father after all. When Max and the other players find out Oriana needs help, many agree to come to her aide. Max has loved Oriana forever and waited for the right time. He brings Oriana into his world and hopes that she will not only trust him and the others but open up and allow all her desires to come true.
My goodness, there are so many alpha males on this hockey team and each one is a great man. I had a hard time choosing just as Oriana does. I loved Max, Sloan and Dominik just as much she does. Each man is wonderful in his own way and each needs and gives Oriana something different. Separately, they may make mistakes, but when they are working together they make a wonderful whole.
Watching each man give his heart to Oriana was a beautiful read. Sloan has built a wall around himself and his heart that slowly melts away with the help of the other men and Oriana. Max has loved her for so long he is afraid that his kink will frighten her away yet Oriana finds no fault in him and is more than willing to try. Dominik is the Master Dom of them all and tries to guard his heart but Oriana wiggles her way into it. Oriana finds herself falling for each man in return. As each man helps bring Oriana into the lifestyle and show her that what she needs and wants is more than just available to her.
As the four sort out all of their feelings they must also find a way to fix what’s wrong with the team. I loved watching not only the interaction of Oriana and each man but also the interaction between everyone. The camaraderie of the men was a nice thing to see. Oriana has a wonderful heart and it was nice to see her open up and grow with the help of her men. I’m glad that she and all the men find a happy ending. This book does include some extreme scenes and may be a bit much for some readers. I found this book a great introduction to the Dartmouth Cobras and this series. Bianca Sommerland pulls the reader into the world of hockey and brings these characters vividly to life. I cannot wait to see what comes next for this team.
