But the magicker world is far from safe, and Isadore is threatened from many who are jealous and distrustful. Temptations abound, but treachery is never far behind.

There is trouble in Philadelphia. The Council of magickers that Morgana Blackthorne is Master of is coming under attack. Isadore is a strong woman, much like all of the heroines in Ms. Roman’s Druid books. But unlike the others, Isadore is an innocent. She has never been loved or in love, until she meets James.

James is a strong and handsome man, and he works to win her heart as well as her body. His only regret is that he can’t seem to get a handle on what is happening in the town, and can’t stop the break-ins in time to protect his household. When Isadore gives in to the passion and takes James to be her first lover, she does it with abandon.

I loved the twists and surprises in this one, and I was truly sorry to see it end. Ms. Roman writes of her Druids with a depth and passion that I truly enjoy, and I hope she will continue to revisit them occasionally. Do Isadore and James have their happy ever after? Of course, but it comes with a few surprises by the end.

I heartily recommend this to any who enjoy hot romance and mystery with a historic flavor.
