Reviewed by MistletoeOne impossible night, two young men made love in a magical Caribbean bay, only to be separated by a violent storm. Decades later Dave Riley still remembers and grieves for a love long lost. Forever drawn to the ocean, he never stops looking for the boy named Kai.
Kai is the descendant of a powerful Polynesian deity. His nomadic life was disrupted when he became infatuated by a young human… one who slipped through his fingers and into the darkness of a tropical storm. He should have been able to move on, but Kai’s heart is no longer free.
A good deed and some well-intentioned magic reunite the couple. After so many years apart, can an aging surfer and an immortal demi-god find anything other than heartbreak?
How can one memory last a man a life time? Dave has lived with the memories of his time with Kai for years now, and is unable to find happiness since that fateful night. Likewise, Kai has vainly searched for Dave all these years and never found his true love. Now fate stepped in and brought these two men together despite the interference of so many others. Their future now rests on Dave and his heart.
This book grabbed my attention right from the start. Dave is a wonderful man. He’s a man who cares deeply for others , always seeing the good in people and helping them when he can.
I found myself liking Kai just as much. He loves with all his heart, though he’s sometimes prone to do things without thinking out of love–and love Dave he does; more than life itself. The love the two share is immense and they both learn the depth of it and fight for it. Not only do we meet these two wonderful men in this story but we also get to visit with many other great characters. I loved seeing the tie in of Coco and her cousin. This was a nice way for Dave and Kai to find their happy ever after.Seeing how everyone is willing to fight for love makes this a wonderful read. The emotions are strong and the sex is hot. All of these things kept me glued to my seat and turning those pages to see what would happen next. Ms. McBride does a wonderful job of bringing a fantastical world to life and has me anxiously waiting a chance to revisit.
