My first thought after finishing Bound and Determined was this–if you’re a fan of the BDSM genre, this is one story you don’t want to miss. Jane Davitt and Alexa Snow have written a book that tackles the emotional aspect of the D/s relationship head-on. It’s effective and captivating, and ensures the reader doesn’t want to put the book down from start to finish.

When the journey begins, you’ll meet a young and impressionable Sterling. He’s intrigued by the BDSM lifestyle, but can’t find the right person to train him properly. He’s arrogant and cocky, aware of his good lucks and charm. You’ll sway back and forth, teetering on the brink of like and dislike for him, until you experience the hell that has been his life before he escaped a home consisting of a bigot father and a subservient mother. His homosexuality is difficult enough to reveal–and consequently defend–to those he loves without adding his need for total submission into the mix. Desperate to unlock his baser needs and desires, he turns to the one man he never expected to meet at a BDSM club; his one-time college Professor, Owen Sawyer.

Owen is the opposite of Sterling on several levels. The scenes with Sterling and his father will put you through the wringer, but are balanced wonderfully by the flourishing relationship between Sterling and Owen. Sterling is someone you want to nurture and protect, while Owen is a Dom you’d be more than happy to kneel before. By the time I finished, I loved them both equally.
