Glynnis is a werewolf who has made a huge mistake. She was sure that she’d already met the man destined for her. When that man walks away from her, she is devastated. Even worse, this means that she has been unfaithful to her true mate. I could practically feel her pain and loneliness as she howled her anguish at the moon. It isn’t long before Glynnis becomes aware that she’s not alone. Aric Sayer has been watching her. From the moment they meet, Glynnis and Aric are drawn to each other, but Aric isn’t an ordinary man, and his past is a mystery, even to himself. Is Aric her true mate, or is Glynnis making another mistake?

I’m glad I got to know a bit more about Glynnis. In the first story, Moonlight Becomes You, she seemed carefree and at peace with the family curse. However, this tale showed Glynnis in a much different light. She is a woman with a broken heart who longs for the peace she can only attain when she unites with her true mate. To make matters worse, her brother Lance has recently connected with his mate and they have a beautiful baby. While Glynnis is happy for her brother, she can’t help but feel a bit jealous. Glynnis is also very honest and straightforward, traits which made her even more endearing. When she and Aric meet, the connection between them is powerful, but Glynnis holds back. I was very pleased that she resisted rushing into a serious relationship until he knew about her curse as well as her previous relationship. I admire her courage at telling the truth even though it might mean she loses Aric forever.

Aric’s history is definitely interesting. I can’t say much about his true nature without spoiling the story, but I will say that he isn’t a werewolf. He’s a unique supernatural creature that adds an interesting dimension to the magic surrounding Glynnis and her family. Ms. Wiesner has packed a lot of information about Aric and his history into this short story, but it all fit together well and never felt rushed or overwhelming. I really enjoyed watching Glynnis and Aric discover the truth of his origins. This build up of information also led to a very exciting climax that had me speeding through the pages.

I‘m glad I had the opportunity to read Bewitched. Readers wanting to enjoy this great addition to the Woodcutter’s Grim Series should definitely read the first story in this “miniseries” within the overall series in order to better understand the Shaussegeny family. Once readers visit Woodcutter’s Grim, I have no doubt they’ll want to come back. I will certainly be reading the other stories in this series soon.

I do have to say that I found Lance and his family a little creepy. While they welcomed Heather and her son with open arms, I also got a bit of a cultish vibe off them. As Heather struggled to understand what was going on, Lance and his family simply kept telling her to “accept it.” I know they meant well, but I found the whole situation a bit frustrating. I kept hoping Lance or someone in his family would sit down with Heather and have an open, honest discussion with her. On the other hand, I have to wonder if Heather, who’s very stubborn, would have listened to what they had to say. In spite of this small issue, it’s clear the love Lance and his family show Heather and her son is genuine and unconditional.

I enjoyed reading Moonlight Becomes You. Woodcutter’s Grim is certainly scary, but also is an intriguing place filled with interesting characters. I recommend it to anyone looking for a frightening fairytale.

This is a well written, fast moving romance about a very damaged heroine who has, understandably, decided God has not been listening to her. The reaction of the church elders when he confronts them with their blindness is believable. I wanted to shake the elders and give Jay a hug. But the author raises an interesting problem here: how ready should we be to question someone else’s professions of faith? Do we embrace them with open arms, even if we have doubts, hoping that they will see the light, or do we hold them at arms length, questioning their faith?

I did find the author’s slipping a couple of passages of sermonizing in the guise of Jay’s journal entries ot be rather heavy handed, and Ashley’s behavior towards her therapist at the beginning of the novel reminded me of the actions of a spoiled child rather than arousing the sympathy it was doubtless meant to. Still, I found Ashley largely sympathetic, and the characters and the situations portrayed in the book are ones that I continue to turn over in my mind.

If you enjoy inspirational romance about serious spiritual dilemmas, you’re sure to enjoy this fine book.

Also, the beginning of the book – while very important to understanding what happens later, can be very confusing, and may need a few “re-reads”. Do it as many times as you need, the rest of the story will be your reward! In fact, this may be one of the books you want to buy in hardback and then put on your “keeper” shelf!

Mistletoe and Holly was my favorite story in the group. Meet a modern day Scrooge who gets snowbound in the vet clinic with one of Santa’s elves. Yes, it’s funny. And, yes, he mellows out a bit.

None of these stories disappoint. All the authors write well and choose interesting situations. Why not pick up a copy for yourself and read it by fire while drinking hot chocolate (or maybe a bit of eggnog)? You won’t regret it!

The attraction between Allie and Chance is fiery, but every time they have a moment to themselves to act on it, something always happens. There’s a bit of an added mystery to the plot when someone keeps watching Allie, and I wasn’t sure why. Chance annoyed me a time or two because of his outright distrust. Sure, people have a right to be cautious, but some of the things he thought Allie was doing got to be a bit outrageous!

This is a great contemporary read. The characters are friendly and memorable. They all have their good moments and their quirks. The pacing is great, and I didn’t find a part of the book that was too slow. It’s an all around fun book.

Ms. Cole also comes up with a very unique twist for the ending that amazed me, but fit well with the story line. Her imagery she creates for the good and fallen angel fight made me read closely and pay attention. This would make a great movie.

The story moves along well, you care about Whitney and her family and you’ll be rooting for the good guys to win instead of the demons, but it’s a close fight. Why not read it yourself and see just how close it gets before it concludes? It’ll keep you turning pages.

There are flashbacks that highlight choices and relationships that have a bearing on Jessie’s present day life. They do not detract from the story, but rather add another layer of understanding to the characters and the plot.

The pace really picks up part way through the book, and I felt it became easier to read. This was when I really began to enjoy the book. It became even more exciting when Jessie and Matt’s assignments started to have an element of physical danger to them, and Jessie needed to stand up for herself at a job she no longer enjoyed.

Jessie’s profession of photographer lends to beautifully descriptive passages, both of the beautiful and the “unsavory”. The writing could have glossed over this device, but instead, Ms. Masters chose to use it to it’s fullest, describing the environment, using the visual descriptions to evoke emotions, to portray what her characters are feeling. Definitely the best part of the book.

The Bridge Between is not what I expected. However, it was certainly worth reading. Not “fluff” reading in any way so be sure you have some time to devote to the story, and to enjoy the writing.

The plot had me intrigued and kept me turning pages, but it just didn’t fully reach its potential. I pictured more action than there was, and I’m not talking physical action between Maddy and Colin. There was just the right amount of that, and it was interesting to see how the dreaded curse would come into play in the physical scenes.

Filled with plenty of wit and charm, the book kept me reading and I did enjoy it. It seems stories with witches are really starting to come out into the lime light in the paranormal genre, and it’s always fun reading fresh new takes on it.
