Despite the fact this is set in Hell and a totally different world I was pleased that there wasn’t a lot of world-building that I needed to catch up on or understand, this made it so much easier for me to pick up. I was also really glad that even though this is the second book set in the world it stands alone completely fine just by itself – I haven’t read the previous book and while I think there was a reference to the two previous characters Griff and Sav are front-and-centre here and their story is the main focus.

The sex is hot and a little bit kinky – but should be suitable for all levels of erotica readers. There is some very light BDSM, but nothing too heavy and I feel even readers who aren’t usually keen on kink or BDSM stories should find this book light enough to suit their tastes. What I really enjoyed is the main aspect to the story was Griff and Sav exploring this new level to their friendship and relationship and exploring with truth and honesty what they each wanted and craved from the other. I found this to be refreshing and really interesting to read and I greatly enjoyed how much the two men cared for each other and how clearly they wanted to make this new level between them work.

I found this to be an interesting and sexy short read. At first I was a little dubious as to how much I’d enjoy Maxwell’s character. Dominant, powerful and extremely wealthy Maxwell initially came across not just as an over-achiever, but also just a little cocky. Handled correctly I can enjoy a strong alpha male character as much as any other lady, but it took me a short while to really get into the strength of Maxwell’s personality. That said, I adored Aaron right from the get-go and found him delightful and really easy to relate to. Young, still a little naïve, determined to reach his goals and forge a path of his own making his character really appealed to me and I was hooked.

This is the fun and kinky sort of story where you need to disconnect your brain and just enjoy the ride. When Aaron and Maxwell initially come together in the club there’s quite a bit of discussion, history-sharing and verbal footwork before they agree to try a scene out together. I was a bit torn about this aspect to the story. On the one hand I enjoyed really getting to know both Maxwell and Aaron on a deeper level, it helped me connect well to them both and feel invested in their story and the relationship they each wanted to form. On the other hand it really slowed down the pace of the story and I found myself initially skimming to get ahead and start some of the action and forward motion to their relationship. I feel some readers will really appreciate the added depth this scene gives both men’s characters, but I wouldn’t be surprised if plenty of other readers skim this to get to the hot stuff.

The chemistry between the two men is delicious, the kink is hot and well written and for a fun and quick read this story certainly fits the bill to my mind. There’s a number of mis-communications and rocky road that the two men need to travel, but their need and lust for each other is clear and steamily written. This was a sexy and hot read that I feel should appeal to a number of readers.

I also really enjoyed how this story stood pretty much completely as a stand-alone. While it’s part of a series (Nailz) and the friend – Rick – who set the hotel stay up for both Jared and Dorian is one of the main characters in the first story (Pierced), Jared and Dorian are both completely the focus of the story. I also was amused and appreciated the quick glimpse at Will, the piercer and Rick’s boy, which helped show that all was progressing smoothly between the two men. Readers can easily pick this up as a stand alone and see if they enjoy the dynamic of this sort of story, then go back to Pierced and enjoy that equally well.

This story isn’t dark – Bone has been in the lifestyle a while and Royal isn’t a virgin to these games. I found it refreshing that all of Royal’s experience with BDSM though had been undercover and therefore “not real” in a sense. This was a delicious way to have many things new and fresh for Royal without him appearing to be completely innocent. I loved that balance and found it really helped sell the story to me and I greatly enjoyed it.

Best of all the attraction and chemistry between the two men felt realistic to me and it was clear they were both completely into each other which was just lovely.

The premise grabbed my attention immediately. It included so many creative nods to other genres and writing styles that I couldn’t wait to see what the author would come up with next. She really outdid herself with all of her references. Honestly, the blurb didn’t even begin to describe some of the clever things she came up with. This was definitely one of those times when the blurb and the premise underpromised what they had to offer only to astound me with all of the delightful tricks they had up their sleeves.

I loved this book’s sense of humor. There were several scenes that made me chuckle, and many more that pasted a smile on my lips. By far the best scenes were the ones that involved Phyllis’ fairy ghostmother and her raunchy expectations for what Phyllis would do on past, present, and future Valentine’s Days. She was quite funny! I’d sure like to read more about this or any other fairy ghostmother if Ms. Gaines ever decides to write about them again.

All three of the sex scenes in this story were steamy and well written. Phyllis had excellent chemistry with all of her partners. While I immediately knew which one I hoped she’d end up with longterm, it was still a great deal of fun to see her try them all out and see who was most compatible with her. Sex isn’t everything in a relationship, but being compatible in this area sure is important.

I can’t recommend Valentine’s Ghost highly enough!

Readers who enjoy a healthy amount of plot in their stories should find that this short story really delivers on that aspect. Kelly’s family and Ewen’s grief over the loss of his brother are all tangled up into an interesting and complicated knot that slowly gets unraveled as the story progresses. While a part of me would have enjoyed if the plot had unfolded a little more slowly – I had to re-read a few sections to make certain I’d picked up some of the intricacies and was following along properly – I feel the author did a really good job making the moving parts all join together and work coherently.

Sexy and fun with some good chemistry between Kelly and Ewen, I found this to be a strong and enjoyable story.

Now, when I read the blurb I thought that kinda creepy, but it’s delivered in such a non-creepy way, I loved it! Rich KNOWS Diego is watching him, because he watches Diego too.

Both guys have a say, in the third person POV. Both Rich and Diego know they want something more than a quick fling, they want to BUILD something. It’s great reading, the way they both sort of dance around their feelings but know what they want!  Their chemistry is hot and heavy right from that first non-date, and it was great fun watching Diego introduce some new pleasures to Rich.

The danger to Rich is front and centre throughout the whole book, and it’s really well told, the way that sort of snowballs around him.

Most of the previous characters pop up in one way or another, or are talked about, and it was particularly wonderful to catch up with Lonnie and Parker (book 2, Copping and Attitude) I think they were my favourite couple!

It is a really great book, just a little on the sweet side for me, which was why I gave it four (good, solid) stars and not five. Still, I read it in one sitting on a quite afternoon at work, so recommend.

While on one level the story is absolutely revolving around Will and Rick getting to know each other and exploring their new relationship and the BDSM lifestyle, there is so much emotion and subtleties going on I really feel the story is so much more than that. I found a strong current throughout the book about two people learning to bounce back from pain and learning to trust again, to explore their own needs and desires. While there’s plenty of hot sex – and some of it pretty kinky to boot – I was delighted to find there is a strong element equaling this kink and heat of learning to trust again, to listening to your intuition and being strong enough to reach out and grab what you want.

As the title and blurb clearly indicates, there is plenty in the story about the BDSM lifestyle, about various piercings, toys and non-traditional elements, but I was really glad that even though these are all quite prominent, I strongly feel they weren’t added for shock value or to simply amp up the kink-value of the story. Will is clearly into the lifestyle and I found this aspect of the story to be tastefully written and clearly added with care. It won’t suit all readers, but I’d strongly urge readers intrigued or wanting to dab a toe into these sorts of literary waters would find this an interesting, realistic and tasteful place to start.

I also absolutely loved the very strongly written secondary characters. I have a definite feel that they will be highlighted in future stories – and I am eagerly waiting for just that. These characters – Kel and Nick in particular – added a lot of value to Will and Rick’s story, being supportive and needed in Will’s self-discovery and personal care. I was pleased how much Will’s friends added to his story and grew quite attached to them all.

Sexy and steamy with a delicious streak of kink running through it – this was a brilliant book and one I eagerly devoured. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Drake and Jeren are both interesting characters that I really enjoyed. They compliment each other well and this is evident in their near instant chemistry and the way they slot together so easily.

Jeren has a number of body piercings and both needs and enjoys the kink. Derek is a strong Dominant and between them they manage to burn the pages up together. Readers looking for something a little more gentle – or exploratory, rather than explosive – won’t find what they need here. Despite this I found the connection and need from both men to be really emotional and caring. I didn’t find their desire for BDSM or what they did together to be edgy or over the top. They were still both safe, sane and consensual so I feel readers wanting just a little more bite to their erotica should find this very satisfying.

With toys and plenty of BDSM elements this is a hot and sexy short story that I really enjoyed. A little harder than many styles out there this won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but I found it well worth the read and a great, sexy story with two interesting and vibrant characters. A great read.
